    I love the story about your Dad and the difference in types of strength. I very clearly remember the day I realized that my father was a very different type of strength than I was. I lifted all the time through highschool and college, and then one day was helping him around the house, moving furniture, taking heavy items into and out of the house and garage, and while I was huffing and puffing, my Dad, who didn't seem like he had muscles as large as mine, was just working away in this relentless fashion. Years of working in a factory and his economy of movement vs. my way of doing things really set us apart. Years later and now as I am focused on my middle-aged health, I try to focus a lot more on training for the kinds of tasks I'll do all my life, so that I can replicate the strength that came so naturally to him.

    I just wanted to give the four of you a huge thank you. My mother has been going through a rough patch in her life and just by doing the at home maps anabolic program, her doctor has never seen the strength she has acquired by doing so. She is now extremely proud and protective of her new "arm bumps" as she calls them, thank you mind pump!

    This is one of my favorite ways to train, especially through physical labor. I've moved a number of times and I've helped a number of friends of mine move, too. I'm usually the one lapping other people carrying boxes and requiring way less rest time, too. I think this is largely because I always enjoyed this kind of activity.

    This info is so true. I've cycled through Anabolic twice since the spring and each time when I move to the second phase, I am much stronger. Additionally, I have improved on the number of pushups and dips that I can do. Most importantly, I swear I recover faster and eat more without putting on the pounds. I always placed a focus on hypertrophy, but you guys through programing and podcast have shown/proved that strength is king!

And chasing him around with protein shakes. He appreciates lifting now after a couple months. Now he's coming around to the nutrition part finally. Counting his protein at least. He's lean so I'm not concerned about his carbs.

    I think it’s important to cover as many forms of athleticism in one workout as possible. I do it in 7 stages; warmup, max strength, stamina, tendon training/bulletproofing, flexibility, grit/endurance, and recovery (usually a massage), in that order, I feel amazing. 20 mins at each stage adds up to about two hours though, beware

    32:45 could that different look be due to the fact that strength training also builds connective tissue and ligaments better than bodybuilding training over the same period of time? I don’t know if that’s actually true, but I know compound movements do more to strengthen connective tissue and the big three for instance, are hardest at Long muscle lengths. No scientific basis for what I’m saying, just wondering

    Hey guys question.. do you guys listen to Dr. Mike Israetel? He’s recently had a couple topics that conflict with what you guys say.
    One is that timing rest periods doesn’t do anything. Not that you guys preach that they do but in your programs there are specific rest periods for each phase. What your opinion?
    Two is that if you are working out for hypertrophy, then there’s no point in switching to a strength phase. Also when in a strength phase it’s better to stay there for 5ish months. What’s your opinion?

    • @lisahickman4631
      @lisahickman4631 Před 10 měsíci

      Maybe it's the recovery time during heavier lifts(2-3mins) that allow you to get back at it and build strength. Or shorter time(30sec) that provide hypertrophy when lifting lighter in the 15-25 range.

    • @christopherbenoit1002
      @christopherbenoit1002 Před 10 měsíci

      @@lisahickman4631 this was my understanding for quite sometime, even looking at any of Mind Pumps programs (which are amazing) they program with this in mind. However Dr Mike is implying that the rest period doesn’t matter. For example if you’re doing 60 second test periods for hypertrophy and haven’t fully recovered for the next set and are slightly out of breath still, then don’t lift.

    • @lisahickman4631
      @lisahickman4631 Před 10 měsíci

      this is an interesting take. Sounds like Dr Mike suggest a more intuitive approach. I wonder why he feels one should stay in strength phase longer. It would be great for the Guys to weigh in. @@christopherbenoit1002
