Paradise has such good visuals in the songwriting, it has such good imagery where it paints a picture in your mind. It’s just remembered for having an elephant riding an unicycle.
You haven’t seen the full music video clearly it’s about animals rights
@@icecreamy521 I have watched it and even with the message of animal rights, it doesn’t work. The song is written from the story of a girl/young woman wanting to break away from life’s pressures into paradise.
No. It's WillyRex's song
I love that song
I thought the song was about the elephant in the room. Suicidal thoughts.
Truth be told I love the Paradise video by Coldplay. It weirdly fits meaning of the song with trapped soul trying to escape into its own paradise. And it is much more interesting to watch than majority of videos with singer doing the sexy dance for a camera.
Ill agree its more entertaining to watch a sexy human in a elephant suit than a sexy human
I agree! It really spoke to me and made me cry the first time I watched it. I'd rather all music videos told a story like this instead of showing an army of scantily clad girls gyrating around the lead singer.
I am totally agree 🤗
Yeah, I thought the same
Same
I was an absolutely HUGE Michael Jackson fan growing up, and the Liberian Girl film clip always made me laugh. It's so awkward, and MJs film clips were usually so spectacular, it was like, how did he drop the ball so bad in this one lmao
MJs team made literal movies for these music videos, Liberian Girl is just what the hell. Smooth Criminal is so good, and then this.
idk what happened with that one especially since it's the bad era where he created a whole movie for the album 💀
I like it! I think it was just to show how powerful and almighty he was, to have all those big names in one single video, not even being paid just there because it's an MJ video. It's not the best, but once in a while it's just nice to see something not as produced. Honestly, I thought they'd put the Eddie Murphy video, that one is super cringe haha but Michael looks super relaxed as usual 😆
@@xprrj I actually thought Michael looked uncomfortable as hell in that one. Murphy definitely couldn't keep his hands to himself there...I've noticed that him and Quincy Jones were always a bit too touchy-feely with MJ and he didn't look comfortable.
I think MJ just simply didnt have the time to make a great music vid for every song on the Bad album, he was on Tour. That would explain why he was only at the end of this vid. Bad and Smooth Criminal was done before the tour which is why theyre so great.
Paradise music video is one of my favorites. It looks cheap, but I feel like it’s kind of the point. And the ending when the elephant returns to the wild and sees the others was always emotional when I watched it as a kid
The paradise music video is wholesome. It's about fitting in and finding where you belong.
In the music video Chris/Elephant has escaped the zoo and is trying to find his home and shows his journey getting there and in the end he finds his bandmates/elephant friends and they are happy, hence it feels like paradise. I think it's nice.
It’s very wholesome just doesn’t work with the feel of the song
Even though it's cheap, Paradise is an iconic masterpiece, it perfectly represents the message of the song and it's so universal exactly like Tom and Jerry. As a kid I always wanted to know what is like to be an animal. The video perfectly shows how animals deserve freedom in the wilderness the same way as we humans need to connect with nature where true peace belongs.
yeah i thought paradise fit the vibe perfectly and i liked it a lot when it came out because i felt something for the elephant
"Liberian Girl" is such a great melody and sung so well......with such a distracting video. But to get all of those A-list stars in one place at he same time is incredible......that was the power that MJ wielded. then.
MJ fan over here. I have to say Liberian Girl is actually my favorite song from the Bad album. The video is really weird but I can't help but loving it. Just having all those celebrities and then Michael's perfect smile at the end is enough to make me happy
Liberian Girl is one of my favourite too! And I agree with the video!
i'm gonna go obvious and say that my favorite is "Smooth Criminal", first time i heard it and saw the video i absolutely lost it, never had seen something to that level in music before
Before they actually showed the Gwen Stefani one, I was like "oh is it just a close-up of her singing? There's lots of videos like that, it can't be that bad!" but then she didn't even lip sync, she just sat there lmao
It's because she was so hurt by her divorce she just let her feelings into her mind and didn't care if it was weird, it's raw. And she does lip sync in some parts
I just wonder, how did a human being think that Ellie sexually harassing an old man in the first scene is even an acceptable idea
It's in like every movie ever. I just rewatched Just My Luck and there's an entire montage where she goes around kissing strangers.
Either way, even if it doesn't change the fact that you probably shouldn't do it, most people probably won't get any type of trauma from simply being kissed by a stranger - if nothing else happens. _Most._
Edit: Oh yeah and they also made a whole song just for the scene lol, but it's really good.
@@althealligator1467 considering you don’t know peoples experiences with sexual assault, you can’t say they won’t get trauma from being randomly kissed by a stranger
@@lexdraws1729 That's why I specifically put a lot of emphasis on "most." Let's be honest, most people, at the very least most men, would absolutely enjoy it.
@@althealligator1467 true but in the context of this clip the man was clearly married and it would mostly likely lead to a big argument or worse
@@petercooper903 agree
I think you guys should do a compilation of best songs that aren't about love. I feel like it was more common back in the day to write about other things but now it seems like the radio plays exclusively love songs and all artists are just releasing albums jam packed with songs only about relationships ya feel? I'd love to see some more recent songs that break this mold :)
Some I love are
5SOS: 2011
BTS: Yet to Come
Panic! At the Disco: Viva Las Vengeance
I like this idea!
How have you said “back in the day” and reference P!ATD and 5SOS?😂 So “back in the day” means mid-2000s apparently…😂makes me feel so old.
@@GroinStrain_ "I'd love to see some more recent songs that break this mold" and then I name some more recent songs that discuss topics not about love.
@@libertoad22 i think it's because your looking at the pop genre specifically. Rock and rap aren't as centered about love as pop
castle on the hill?
Actually, the reason Liberian Girl has that music video is quite literally because Michael didn't want to film a video. That's the reason MJs only in it for a few seconds, it was taken in one shot and he instantly left afterwards
The Bloodhound Gang, and the Bowie/Jagger videos were incredible.
Gwen Stefani did a really good bella Swan impression
Not to shame her (I would if I could afford it) but having a music video focused on you making facial expressions you probably shouldn't have botox in your face to prevent your facial movements.
"This looks like a YT video." I remember a yt video where these guys ran around a city in furry costumes....👀🤣
but the costumes weren't furry ones
I remember that video also!! 😍👍
@@aliceramdom.s Not actually, no. But they are the same thing in both videos. The irony made me chuckle. That was my point. If I offended anyone I apologize. (Genuinely.)
I actually like the Liberian Girl video. I think it's more nostalgia for me, seeing all of those celebrities back in the day. I wouldn't say it's the worst. Sounded like it could have a 'Remember the time' theme to it if they properly did it.
Gwen Stephany's video feels like she was just told to cry and we see the attempt for 3min 47 seconds
Bro i love liberan girl but, the MV is definitely a product of it's time, unlike Billie Jean or Bad. You can just tell it's from the late 80s. I think it was good but I'm very biased, I'm like the biggest Michael Jackson fan ever
Yeah, I still like the video for nostalgia. Just seeing all of the big stars at that time. I think it's sort of in line with who he is as he was the biggest star at the time so having all of those celebs there just showed her big he was.
Agreed!
*its
Dancing in the Street is one of my favorite music videos, the energy is so good and I find really fun to watch it! I'm still sad many people voted as bad 😭😭😭
Same!! I knew it was low quality but I never by any means considered it bad
I suppose that everyone who voted it down thinks that Ariana Grande's videos are masterpieces
I think this was "poor" because it was rushed so they could use it in LiveAid. Initially, they wanted to do the song live with Mick Jagger in the US and David Bowie in the UK but they realised this was impossible with the time lag. They only had 1 night to rush the video so they could do the song in LiveAid.
The "DANCING IN THE STREET" video is famous for like being a one shot affair. They had just recorded the song and went out to the backlot of the studio they were in and shot it in like 10 mins! Still a banger of a tune though.
It is a good song, I remember an episode of Family Guy playing what feels like the entire music video as a cutaway gag, I always try and skip that part
I think the video is fire
I think it was filmed to be shown at the live aid event. I remember seeing it during the event, and I thought it was a fun video. Who doesn't like just seeing Bowie~haha!
Their version of the song is my favorite and I love the video because they just look like they're having fun.
idc, i'd love to watch david bowie jump around for 3 min straight
The Bad Touch is supposed to be like that, fitting the satire and the "badass" era
Might be a bit of a case of "didn't age well."
As a dude who was in high school at the time, it gave me a nostalgic chuckle.
@@Essex626 Exactly! I'm not exactly part of that generation, but my mom is
So yeah lol
@@yesidthecolombian bro, I'm only 36, don't go making me feel old like that!
@@Essex626 oops
@@Essex626 Nah it's just that new generations are just too soft.
I don't think the coldplay video is that bad. It's not a super deep song, it has two notes of escapism and wanderlust, and the music video hits the same two notes of escapism and wanderlust. It's not super engaging, sure, idk that a music video always has to be though
Dancing in the Streets without music is an absolute stellar parody, I also think that someone said Bowie himself has seen the older version of this parody (with only a bit of song) and found it hilarious
Nice vid as always, Roomie! Keep it up, proud of you.
Dancing is the Streets was a HUGE video release during Live Aid in 1985. They wanted to do a like duet with Bowie at Wembley Stadium and Jagger at John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, PA but the technology of the satellites was not ready yet and would have been too big of a delay. So pretty much put together that video at the last minute for Live Aid.
Tbh, the Paradise video stuck with me after I saw it on Vevo. It creeped me out and I had nightmares about it, I'd cry every time I heard the song on the radio. The music video gave me the sensation of dying and moving in to the unknown, which was helped with the song of course. But, I love the song now and it stuck with me for years. I'd say they did something with this, and it paid off
I would frickin love a Roomie music video in a similar style to Dancing in the Street 💃
I'd pay money for that
Get Jonas in it too and that will be even better!
I don’t know, they could have done something deeper and higher quality for Paradise but it fits to me. I mean the message of the song is present and the video and it shows off the actual personality of the band, particularly Christ Martin, by being goofy and not taking itself as seriously as people often assume about Coldplay. It’s instantly recognisable and incredibly endearing.
I love this. This is the kind of cringe content I want to see reactions to 😂. Keep up the great content 👍
Actually ironically I feel like the Paradise music video fits the vibe exactly. Sure, the chorus is the word "paradise" over and over again, but the lyrics of the verse basically say that the "paradise" dreamt of by the main character was just a unattainable dream by someone drowning in daily life. The imagery of Chris Martin in a dirty elephant costume being out of place in an enormous landscape devoid of life is fits with the theme of feeling alone and isolated.
Daily videos again? Love it! Don’t get tired too much
Huge respect to the editors for making a solid 14-minute video from at least an hour long uncut version🤝
You could do a video of “random songs” songs that are literally quite random with changing parts, “Big Enough” by Kirin J Callinan and “Next Level” by Aespa come to mind. As well as “bohemian rhapsody” of course. You could assess if you think it works or not.
I have watched very few music videos to tell you the truth, but I definitely get the feeling that Paradise is all about that dissonance/contrast of the song and visuals so I can 100% appreciate it artistically.
Edit: Also Dancing in the Street is amazing, I love it. Iconic.
One of the best channel on youtube ... I wonder how you come up with a new ideas every time
Paradise had an amazing video and it has a deeper meaning when you understand the lyrics. It's really interesting to use an elephant but it shows how the journey to paradise the elephant is going on. The Gwen Stefani music video could have been better however, it shows the confusion and anger she feels from her past relationship
I don’t have a seizure disorder but got a terrible headache just watching the few clips from that Beyonce video. 😥
I have to say, Joel looks really good with a mustache
I think that he looks really handsome, he's hot!💯
Appreciate the sound effect from Crash Bandicoot for the Joel as a caveman edit 😆
I absolutely love the warning you gave about flashing lights ♡
And I love the video
My mom actually likes the first music video, she finds it funny and it makes her happy. She sent it to me when I was feeling down. So it has a special place in my heart!!
5:38 "C'mon look at the freaking penguins!"
Lol.
I can tell you that all of us MTV babies from the 80s were jazzed when we heard about Mick Jagger and David Bowie teaming up. Then the video was shown. I can remember thinking, "that's all you got?"
The Bloodhound gang video isn't bad. Its exactly as Joel described and very much a product of the time and a parody.
LETS DO IT LIKE THEY DO ON THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL
i love that song and video
They should watch the video for Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss
It's just a proof that this generation has gone soft.
I wouldn't say that the Bloodhound Gang video is bad. If you watch it with the sound muted, then the video shows how we humans takes wild animals from their natural habitat and train them to do as we want them to do. And when an animal is hit by a car, often the animal is just left by the road, with the driver just leaving the animal without bothering to check if the animal is dead or to even pull the dead animal to the side of the road.
I feel like everyone is misunderstanding that Coldplay video. The juxtaposition of the visuals and the audio is the point. The song is about paradise, while the visuals are as far from that as can be. Given the melancholy style of the song, I actually think it works great.
Dancing in the street is iconic and a masterpiece. You can’t change my mind on that
The weirdness of the paradise video actually fits it in some weird way
THANK YOU for the flashing lights warning !! You would not believe how appreciated that is from those of us who need it. It gave me time to look away - thanks🙏🏾🙏🏾
I'm thinking that paradise has actually a deep meaning of an mv.looking for a paradise, from an elephants vision,I'd say this can be such a painful story in the mv
I do have very fond memories of the paradise video. It was one of the most memorable videos of my early childhood for sure.
Keep up the great work
I was just singing one of your old songs in my head livin’ for that
NO, come on! "The Bad Touch" is literally one of the best music videos ever made, so iconic!
Great video as always. I recommend watching “musicless music video - Dancing in the streets” It’s absolutely hilarious!
It is sooo funny! I’ve seen it so many times and I laugh so hard every time 😁
@@asaboge8363 me too, and both versions are super funny.
Pixies Veloria is the exact demonstration of opening too many apps on a smartphone
Love you guys at Roomie- just hilarious reactions and comments 🙌🏽💕
I agreed with everything except jagger/bowie- this video plays in my head every time I hear this song! It's so much fun! They had so much fun!
Roomie with a moustache doesn't exist, he can't hurt you.
Roomie with a moustache:
Yes bloodhound gangs music videos are a joke but it was very deliberate
One of there albums is literally titled "hooray for b**bies" so that should tell you exactly what to expect from them
the fact that paradise was filmed an hour or two out from where i live and i had no clue? legit filmed on a road ive been down lmao
I honestly love the 'Dancing In The Street' video because it's just them pissing about and having fun.
When I watched the Shred music video to dancing in the streets, it all I can think of everytime I hear it
The Ellie Goulding video is actually a short story and, to me, is very moving, you have to watch the entire thing! It's actually called "Tom & Issy" here on CZcams, a Roger Michell film starring Ellie Goulding, the music video of How Long Will I Love You is actually just snippets from the 11 minute video 💛
The sound effects are stellar in this one!
There is a way to use a lot of cameos but good. Best example for me would be A Day To Remember with "All I want".
Finally he acknowledges his amazing mustache
Ohhhh yeah been waiting for this sequel
aww Bubbles being in the mv is so cute
I think most music videos have their very own magic, that only lacks if the video is too simple
Liberian Girl is such a banger,as well as the video, come on man
no
@@aliceramdom.s well, people agree with me so far,so whatever you say. Respect opinion though
I think so too. I just think that people don’t understand Michael’s mind as usual. I think it is a very sweet video and when he appears it always makes me smile 😃 but everyone has the right to it’s opinion. We love it and some people don’t. It’s ok 🫶🏻
I agree, it is one of my favorite songs!

Aww I really like the Paradise video, precisely because it's different 🤗. Btw Jonas, there are already two of us, I don't know how to vote in the polls either 😮💨
I love the art of music videos. Unfortunately many music videos for songs are not creative.
I don't mind Dancing in the street's music video. It's kinda charming having two massive superstars of their era just goof around and dance. Nothing to write home about, but not terrible, I say
Would love to see more of this series
joel should check out the singer alec benjamin
Indeed
Yes, please!
Lol I never thought the Paradise music video looked bad. But now knowing that it wasn't planned to be that way, that music video looks awkward as well.
in the paradise video the elephant is on a adventure to his paradise after escaping the zoo. In my eyes the video fits fine.
One important thing about Dancing in The Street is that they're dancing... but it's inside, not in the street. I mean, does it change later on in the video? I don't think so, lol.
I think they dance outside later. But I'm not sure that's a street 😂
Love them to bits, but there's something about a few of Daft Punk's music videos, that makes me think they deserve a placement. (Prime Time of Your Life is prime example, pun intended.)
That Bloodhound Gang video was HUGE when it came out.
I never found anything wrong with Paradise. I just remember my 12 year old self with my cousins running to turn the music up when we all saw the elephant on the screen.
1:12 someone on genius pointed out that she's "singing" the song with her facial expressions, like how she looks confused and then angry when the lyrics express those emotions.
I want to see you react to the top 30 trending songs...
9:41 what you see before you get mugged
I actually love "What Lovers Do" and the video, especially the animations. Am I alone with that?
I feel like the explicit video on patron is Girls Girls Boys by P!ATD 😂😂
I used to get up early in the morning to watch the paradise music video. It was a big part of my childhood.
The first one came to my mind is Almost over you by Sheena Easton, the music video is so completely off to the song.
That was a very long drink of water❤😂
Nah, Paradise video is iconic for people of our generation.
YOUR MUSTACHE IS NOT TERRIBLE. ITS BOOTIFUL
3:31 this is the end is Fing funny as hell man
I think the Liberian Girl one isn't THAT bad without context. Celebrities for celebrities' sake is still something that people do and get away with, like that one dumb lil Dicky video(at least he incorporated them into the song too I suppose), celebrity culture is pretty obsessive in the US, so there's a significant audience for this kind of silly stuff unfortunately lol.
But when you consider that Michael Jackson was pretty much THE GUY at the time. THE king of pop, THE golden standard of music videos. Idk if people under 30 can fully understand just how big of a deal he was, you had to be there
For virtually any artist ever, it'd just be "oh how fun, look at all these celebrities", and then you go about your day. But when it's Michael Jackson publishing it, it's like Gordon Ramsey serving microwaved store-bought cup noodles at his restaurant. It's disappointing even if you enjoy celebrities or cup noodles on the reg
the bloodhound gang video was a classic! its supposed to be cheap tat lol
12:12 someone made a naughty comment in chat so they had to blur most of it...Cue Kim and Kanye...******* on a motorcycle. Lol
I recognize that blurred image! It’s from how does it feel - D’angelo
Dang, there is a video on yt about the Dancing in the Street video where they removed the song and just made breathing-sounds. Hilarious! 😆
We're past middle of 2022 and Joel is still using traffic cones to watch videos. Not that I'm complaining 😬
Seeing this music video from Michael Jackson makes me convinced that it was Depp's inspiration for Willy Wonka
