*DEAL ALERT* ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Q410VA ($549 Best Buy): howl.me/cjK1vNaklhH $250 off!!
Dropped a like and a comment because I loved the summary section, allowing me to save time. Thanks!
Andrew, a while back you promised me that you would review the ZenBook and you came through for me. Thank you. ExMcellent video, as usual. Will look forward to your full review, once you get the US model, preferably one that is a little higher up the product line: 16GB RAM, Core i7, perhaps 1TB M.2 drive.
that 8gb soldered ram is a deal breaker
Agreed, I would be willing to pay more to have stronger specs to match that beautiful display
Spec’d out w 8gb? No thanks.
As I stated in the video there are models with 16 and 32. I have one coming next week stay tuned.
I have the 8gb 2022 version and haven't really had any issues for my use case, which is just movies, word, excel, teams, browsing, etc, obviously if you are doing more than that, I can see why it would be an issue.
@@Chelo167 i have 6gb ram in my laptop(2gb preinstalled+4gb configurated). I open 2 browsers with multiple tabs, a pdf reader, dictionaries ,and many other apps simultaneously with no problems so far. So 6gb/8gb is highly sufficient for normal mustitasking.
Asus just recently announced a 2023 refresh of its zenbook lineup with a 15" inch model equipped with Ryzen 7735U(a rebranded 6800u), 16GB ram, 120Hz OLED screen, 67Whr Batt, Hope andrew can get this particular model for review.
Thanks for the wonderful review Javier Bardem ;-)
8 gb of ram in my opinion is a deal breaker. I feel like they could sell so many more units at 16 gb or even 12 gb of ram.
Great unboxing as usual Mr. andrew!! Wondering how this laptop has so impressive screen and thinkpad still has that 1080p 65% sRGB and cost twice... Either Lenovo is asking for a high price because of the branding or Asus is cutting price in the manufacturer process...
Hey Andrew, big fan of the channel. I have the ASUS vivobook pro 16x oled m7600 of last year, with a 4k 60hz display and a ryzen 7 5800H. For the display, mine is meant to also hit 550 nits, but I was informed that it will only get that high in HDR. Notebookcheck and other review websites got around 430 to 479 nits for SDR brightness. Is that in line with your model? Although with yours being the newer one with the intel/thunderbolt variant it might be slightly better display tech.
All in all, my first proper $1000+ laptop and it gets more right than wrong. Pleade review the newer 16x model if you get a sample.
Thanks
I think eliminating the ergo lift is terrible. It not only breaks the typing angle fix but decreases airflow -- which is critical when PCs lack cool chips like Apple Silicon offers. The good news is that Amazon (and AliExpress) offer inexpensive stick on feet. I got a metal foldable design that lifts when you want it and folds when you don't, but even folded offers a half in lift.
have they fixed the screen door issue? i had to return last year's model because i couldn't believe how bad it made the screen look - hopefully you can talk about this in your full review
this is probably the best quality webcam and mic i have ever seen on a laptop for this price.
14th gen meteor lake with a380M level of performance as the igpu shud be a gamechanger for budget laptops like this
I hope they maintain this price or be even cheaper if Intel can get those XE MTL be 1650 class
Thank you, Andrew, for this first look review. Since the live unbox, I have checked out the ASUS USA website, the site has changed, it is very informative and the graphics are very impressive. From your comments, this would be a good laptop for lightwork, students, non-business consumers. Looking forward to the full review. I assume ASUS will just send out a non-EU Electrical, Charging Cord, instead of having the consumer having to send the whole box back to Best Buy or ASUS. Thanks.
Hope you'll get hold of the 2023 Zenbook Pro 16X OLED soon.
"Not the fastest Gen4 speeds we've seen" is a huge understatement. It doesn't even come close. -- Looking at all the laptops from this year, I can only hope that we will get to see some All-AMD ones soon.
It’s very cheap bro
Waiting for the 2023 edition of their Vivobook 16X 4K OLED. Unfortunately, didn't have the money when the 2022 model went on sale for $999 CAD.
Tnx maaaan for ur review❤
Nice display and features like the numpad and camera. I could get by with 8gb, in fact I am on my Surface. Looking forward to your review.
Waiting for Acer Swift X 14 2023, it seems to have the same display and RTX4050, the only thing missing is an IR camera
Great Review!
How convenient is it to use the sensor and pen if the opening angle is 180, not 360?
Is there a full reviews of this exact laptop?
Excellent PC, super light and perfect for everything, editing and even gaming, thanks to the fact that it has Thunderbolt 4 connection you can connect an eGPU and have all the power of a desktop computer in your home and the portability of a laptop on the street
Great review like always. Are you gonna get the new Lenovo slim/yoga pro 7 in?
Just came in to the studio. Stay tuned.
This channel is great. I subscribed.
Thanks really appreciate it!
Can't wait for the full review. 8gb ram is the deal breaker you need more RAM in this day and age.
Is the display 1080 or 2K 4K?
A great review. ❤
I appreciate that
Does the screen also 'suffer' by the digitizer layer similar to Lenovo Yoga 7 please? (On that one with white background use cases the raster ia quite visible, ruining the OLED display experience imho)
How are the speaker?
I hate that almost all laptops go for face unlock instead of a fingerprint sensor. I feel that the fingerprint sensor is more deliberate instead of it automatically scanning your face.
Great video! Love Asus they always tend to feel bang for the buck!
Yes sir!
Should I buy this or thinkpad e14 gen 5? I am a cs student so I need it for programming purposes, might even run a ubuntu virtual machine
If they make 16GB Ram variant it's a Steel even a $100 Increase will make it worth it. Loved the H series processor and affordable OLED Laptop atlast!!! Great JOB ASUS
I was one of those lucky people who managed to get this amazing laptop on sale, $200 off!
This laptop with a ryzen 7000 phoenix would be a complete beast, I argue the only all rounder I will consider against the macbook air
Which is better this zenbook 14x or vivobook s15 regarding both have same processor and ram
Thanks for the review. Just a question about the screen. Is there an option without a touch screen?
Doesn't matter, you can disable it in the user interface menu. Right click the windows icon>device manager>human interface devices>touchscreen-right click and tap 'disable'. No more touch screen.
I just bought it but it had overheating issue. I just opened 4 browsing tabs and it got super HOT, much worse than my old laptop with i5 11th generation. The battery is low as well. I want to love it because the price was good for its specs. But I ended up returning it for overheating issue.
Any heating issues is there or not sir??
Where can you buy this in canada?
Great value for money, no doubt about that.
great mic and camera FHD . BUT charger on the right sight is a bad feature .
Definitely a nice laptop for the price. Camera and mics are good. Display is excellent. This would make more sense if it came with 16 gig of memory. Even though it has a nice display using this for intensive applications with ony 8 gigs can be a challenge for some people. The one other negative you did not point out is there is no SD card slot which might be a negative for some users. Still for the price it is still a good buy especially when Best Buy includes the correct cord for USA users. Great "First Looks" review.
Yes, thanks for point out no sd card reader. I will address that in the full review.
Go on ASUS!
Just picked up my Zenbook, love it so far. It feels like a windows alternative to a Macbook Pro. Very well made laptop.
How is the experience now? Is it good for an it student??whats your views on this?
@@ashim844 returned it, speakers were awful and battery life wasn’t very good, do yourself a favor and just buy a MacBook Air
This $800 SKU is the kind of SKUs that lures people into looking at this laptop, but isn’t actually the one that people should buy. The RAM is simply not enough for productivity down the line. People tend to keep their laptops for many years.
The more interesting thing on the motherboard are the empty solder pads for a dGPU. Unfortunately, there is only one fan. Therefore the optional dGPU in this chassis is not a very good idea. The HP Pavilion 14 Plus, with a very similar feature set and price point, is a much better choice for a dGPU. The HP simply has 2 fans.
Since 99% of people use their laptop for basic office or school work,
8GB is RAM is just fine for the vast major of latop buyers.
Is it a plastic built? Or aluminium?
It sound as a good laptop, I will wait when Best buy returns it for sale.
You do get a lot for $799. The fact that you can't get it right now at Best Buy due to the fact that they received the European batch by mistake is pretty weird though! Your review is excellent once again Andrew. Thank you. 👍😁
Yes, in Europe it comes with Ryzen 6800H so they probably sent those. Although in Europe it is $1500 with 6800H, 16GB and 1TB on sale with 3 year warranty.
Will there be an AMD version later this year
With the 120Hz oled screen paired with a 13th gen H series processor, I'd reckon the battery life on this would probably not be the best though.
yeah, I don't get standalone H-series CPU w/o a GPU
Will you be reviewing the LG Gram Style anytime soon?
If LG sends me one to review I will.
Zenbook 15 flip 2023 with RTX GPU & letest specs. Please make Unboxing & Review Thank You.
Compare this to the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 pro!!
I'm buying a laptop soon for programming and ngl i'm kinda lost
Will i get the MS office lifetime subscription for free along with it or will have to buy it seperately? please somebody answer it.
Here waiting for Marc to do Lenovo dual screen laptop
Like to see the UX3404 32gb get reviewed.
Expecting it next week.
Is his battery good?
Great sir. You have 450 laptops. That's insane😱😱
Not quite but a lot for suire.
The naming gets confused... Is it correct to assume that if you want an higher tear model you'll have to buy the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED UX3404 ? Very confusing compared to Q410VA... And still then the TOUCHSCREEN seems optional :( As always, we love your videos !
You are correct 👍
@@andrewmarcdavid Thanks!!!
I JUST got the previous model that was bestbuys top search and now they have a better one with touchscreen and without the ergolift? 😢
I bought this Q410VA, but it shows a different model number inside. Anyone knows why?
You didn't review the display other than restating the specs of it? Does the display have PWM? Can you take a short video of the video with a slow motion camera (slow motion phone camera is ok) to see if its strobing at various brightness levels?
This is not the full review as a I stated.
@@andrewmarcdavid ahh true I missed that... Hopefully there'll be a PWM test in full review :) lots of people looking for that
I hate laptops with soldered RAM
why does it cost 2.2x times the price in my country though....
Where's the AMD version?
Did you noticed a red grid on white backgrounds?
I've a lenovo yoga pro and they have this particulary problem on their oled touch devices.
I will take a close look and report my findings in full review.
I find I can see a grid on the digitiser models, but not necessarily on the ones without pen support. Would expect to see it on this one...
Link to best is not working Most if not all, price tag in the video is way more cheaper than the real and true price in the market.
Watch the video. Best Buy received the wrong batch so they pulled it.
Am I the only one who's laptop blacks out for a moment when I plug and unplug the laptop charger? Is this normal?
***UPDATE*** ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Q420VA is now available at Best Buy for $999, Core i7-13700H, 16GB RAM. 512GB SSD: howl.me/cjJcCCbbaYm
Bestbuy also has it on sale as of 6/30/23 for $799 which is a steal IMHO
I got one for $699 this week!@@elliekim6666 i7-13700H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD!
On sale for $500 at Best Buy, is this laptop good for highschool? I’m concerned about the 8gb of ram.
I would recommend 16GB if you can get that model. But at $499 this is certainly tempting
To the people who are complaining, this thing costs just 799$.
Yes 👍
I like it, however the 8gb RAM non-upgradable is a dealbreaker... it would be perfect if it came in a 16", 16GB package for those who want to pay a little more
I have a sku of the 14X OLED coming with 32GB RAM hopefully next week. Stay tuned.
Since 99% of people use their laptop for basic office or school work,
8GB is RAM is just fine for the vast major of latop buyers.
Much rather they increase the ram to 16GB and keep it at 256GB storage. That way the upgradeable part is the one that isn't a permanent option. This for $550-600 dollars on sale is a steal. Still a great value at $800 but I would've paid an extra $100 to get an extra 8GB of ram. It's unfortunate because it's so close to a perfect mix of features/specs both for now and in the future. At 8GB it can feel limited (Though my experience with the 14 OLED from last year has been great so far despite the 8GB ram). The ergo lift hinge also allowed 180 degrees.
Since 99% of people use their laptop for basic office or school work,
8GB is RAM is just fine for the vast major of latop buyers.
It's $499 right now at best buy... GETTING!
If only this thing supported linux better. Audio does not work with any linux distro
Is this laptop ever comming with 3050 and 16 or 32gb of ram ?
Yes, I have one from Asus hopefully next week. Stay tuned.
so it's still 10nm CPU, compared to AMD's 6nm, so worse battery life?
I wonder why asus ditched ryzen this year.
Where is the review videos of this laptop?? 🧐
Released more than a month ago
@@andrewmarcdavid I can't able to find , could you please share it
Is the RAM upgradeable?
nope
Laptop looks good but for me 8gb ram... For my work it is not enough, i need a minimum 32gb ram. GPU doesn't matter, but RAM.
I have a version coming next week with more RAM
Did Asus not get the message about people, at least here in the US, wanting and willing to pay a bit more for the SKU with 16gb of ram in their ZenBook range?
Like people in the comments are saying not being able to even upgrade is baffling
I have one coming next week with 32GB supposedly
@@andrewmarcdavid Ah good to hear, hopefully they offer the 16gb as well, Thanks for the video
Link to best buy doesn't work.
If you watch the video you will know why.
@@andrewmarcdavid Yeah I'm not watching a 15+ min video to get the scoop on why a link doesn't work.
@@NicolasNoble Good
8gb of ram for 800? total rip off.
I think this is better than xps for your wife 😅
Giveaway this laptop
500 dollars ok?
AMD better spec
These companies should be sued. 8GB soldered laptops in 2023 are nothing but e-waste and these companies are just adding to our overall carbon footprint. What nonsense!
Another idiot who thinks he is smarter than a multi-billion dollar company.
Since 99% of people use their laptop for basic office or school work,
8GB is RAM is just fine.
1) to make the screen like macbook (less reflection)
2) latest ryzen H or U version with rdna2 or rdna3
3) 16 soldered ram
4) optional fingerprint sensor.
And price under 1000. Ehhh... maybe in the next life) sry for my english level
@andrewmarcdavid I just this exact Asus Zenbook at Best Buy a few days ago for $493.97 before tax as an open-box in excellent condition. I absolutely love the the Asus Zenbook especially the price, haha. What a blessing!!!
