In this video I focus on the tear down portion of my 1968 ford shop truck, pickup a utility box for the trucks new bed, and eventually get the body of the truck off of the old frame. This is video number two of an ongoing series. The last video I starting my auto Fusion series where I am taking two completely different platforms and using the best parts of each on to make the perfect shop truck. Yes, this is a chassis swap, v8 swap, suspension swap, body swap, and much more. I did not know exactly how to describe the process so we are going with platforming as well as auto fusion. This is a 1960's ford truck going onto a Lincoln Town car chassis. This is a lot more common with the crown vic, but it is all the same stuff. I don't think this gets said enough! But you always have some fire music in your videos. Also you probably should have let some air out of them tires before you pulled that truck in the shop. Tight fit!
Dude!!!! This is the same bed configuration that I’m doing to my truck that I swore I would get you to eventually paint!!!! That’s so awesome. Mine will be a reading tool bed on a 72 F100 pickup.

In the body swaps I’ve done, I remove the cab or body by pulling the chassis forward or body backwards. This allows me to not have to clear the engine. 😊
If you need a few more inches to get the cab higher and make it easier get 4 large wood blocks. You can cut a slot on the top that sockets the wheels.
or also deflate the tires to 10 psi as well
CBS Blocks and 4X4 more is better

Those gantry A lifts are good investments. And from the looks of yours it's a good quality one. So A+ for forward thinking. But if it's made of steel I suggest painting it with rust proof paint to keep it sturdy specialy because it is outside. Keep up.the good work 😀

I have done that with a crown vic chassis only I did not use the firewall on the dashboard I don't know why people are stuck on that scenario I only use the frame in the wheel and deal from there if you want the little Crown Vic engine go ahead with it but I wanted to chassis for a pickup I did what I wanted to do and put what I wanted on it and does it run great it actually runs excellent

That's an ambitious project. A bit confused though. Are you building this as a replacement to your shop truck, or just for coolness and looks? If it's still going to be used as a truck, the car suspension will not be very usefull for hauling stuff. Just wondering.
The old truck was so old and worn out I wouldn’t use it for more than running up to the home improvement store 5 minutes away. This will become such a better vehicle for me

Good video. I think I need to buy myself one of those gantrys ? Helps for you to explain and being honest about how this this is no easy project. Take your old cab and make a C-cab out of wood like it was from the teens or early twentys when they only sold a chassie and you built your own body. You will miss the usefully of the truck till you rebuild it. Will be watching

I’m doing this now (1985 squarebody cab to a 2010 Tahoe chassis)… I got it as a basket case, and it’s been a challenge to say the least (im a complete amateur)
Just saw a video on a body swap to diffrent chassis you guys did. I have a 93 E150 Club Wagon Van 5.8L and was wondering, can I get a wrecked truck with modern/newer chassis,better TRANS and motor to do the same,AND if so,witch truck would be the one to get.?
P.S.
I don't want to have to modify anything, would just want to take the body off my van that's in Gd condition, AND put on the newer truck chassis.

gantry crane is verry usefull , though if you had spend a bit more money you mightve been able to get a (used) 2 post lift and that wouldve been a lot more usefull (probably couldve mounted it on the slab behind the shop ) and do the same things the gantry could (lift stuff off trucks and things like that )

I just dropped a 2005 box to a 2016 E450 chassis. Trying to get the lights to work on the box but the connectors on the old truck are circular 4 pins and on the new chassis they are 8 pin. does anyone know if there is a harness for this or do I need to start splicing wires and stuff?

I just skipped through all the boring parts of both videos and can say this is going to be a great truck but also very interesting because I don’t think many people chop the truck cab up to do a frame swap
