I love that the Emperor is drawning a line in the ground with his staf. It makes me think of " drawning the line", with other words he is placing a boundarie. He does it in a gentle way but do not cross the line with him. This clear communication of boundaries is something i link with the Emperor. Lovely done, beautiful artwork, thank you for the video Lisa!

Loved this walk-through, Lisa. I'm a huge fan of this deck, pretty much drawing from it every day. I think it should be noted (and applauded) that the crone figure who appears and reappears in this deck (Hierophant, Judgment, 8 of Pentacles) always is teaching. Even in the Judgment card she's having a teaching moment (and I think the child actually connects to the child offering a pumpkin in The Death card). This is a wonderful -- and unfortunately rare -- acknowledgement of the importance of the elder, specifically the crone elder, as teacher, mentor, and wise one. This isn't something we see in decks. Also, do you think the belt on The Magician looks like the elemental sign of Water? The way it's illustrated I can't help but think it is. Love your comments, I learn so much. Btw, Sasha Graham was on Jonathan Dailey's channel discussing this deck. It's a good interview. Thank you, Lisa.

It's great how the child is handing a pumpkin to Death, an autumn 'fruit' which says it's natural to enjoy the bounty and beauty of autumn but it naturally leads to winter and the end of life. Glad to see Llewellyn trying something new with cardstock, but couldn't they get over the shiny thing? And, as I can't riffle shuffle, their thin cardstock is totally wasted on me!

I love your deep dives. It makes me focus on the cards in a way I usually don't and so many new things pop up. RE: The Witches Garden --
    1) The line that The Emperor has drawn in the sand below his feet! 2) The Hermit's hand is on the door, as if about to open it to an introspective comfort zone! (Very fun observation for me). 3) The 8 of Pentacles is surely the Hierophant, making another appearance, working and teaching! 4) The hornet's nest hanging in the shadows of the 9 of Swords and the swarm it has produced above the person's head. Eek! Lisa, you are a gem. Thank you for sharing all of you knowledge so openly. I love the card stock too except, dang, it chips... a lot. I edged mine in a deep green so touch ups quell the appearance of them. I had no weird creases in my deck, thankfully. For a 1st "linen" shot by Llewellyn, I simply cannot complain. I look forward to many more. I adore this deck! ❤

I love, love, love the Tarot of a Witches Garden. The comfy cozy feel of the deck, the storybook type imagery is totally up my ally. I appreciate decks that are smaller like this one because I have small hands. I love Lewellyn Decks in general, I like that they are smaller decks and I actually like the thinner Lewellyn cardstock because I am no struggling to handle the deck, I can get my hands around it with no issue. While Lewellyn cardstock is thinner, it’s in that sweet spot for me, it’s not too thin and it’s not too thick, it’s a cardstock that’s going to hold up. I have the Legendary Ladies Goddess Oracle and the cardstock on that deck is way too thin, it’s literally like paper, you can almost bend it in half.
To me, the fact that the woman in the 8 of Swords is hovering just above the water, speaks to the mind. She’s so in her own mind, so stuck in that cycle of anxiety that her feet no longer touch the ground. It speaks to being so swept up in the mind that you become disconnected from the world around you. As someone who suffers from severe anxiety, I know this feeling well, to me it accurately depicts the feeling of being so swept up in your mind, in your anxiety that you’ve disconnected yourself from reality, you’ve blinded yourself to the world around you. In order to get herself out, she needs to get out of her head. She’s not actually that high off the ground, her feet aren’t bound, she just needs to put her feet back on the ground and she will be able to free herself. If she gets out of her head and reconnects to Mother Earth she will see that it’s not as bad as she thought, and that she’s actually in a safe space, because the environment around her feels quite peaceful. It doesn’t feel as though she’s in any real danger in this card, it’s all in her mind. I kind of get the feeling with this particular 8 of Swords that she’s actually trapped herself. I may just be relating that to this card because I’ve been there a lot through my experience as an anxious person.
For me being a person who suffers from severe anxiety, I am extremely particular about the decks that I choose to buy, which is why I love tarot tube because I can look at the cards. Decks that are more shadowy such as the Deviant Moon can be too confronting and intense for someone like me who does suffer from anxiety and is more sensitive, because it can be triggering to us or make us anxious. A deck like this which is more gentle and supportive, decks that would be considered in the hug deck category, is what someone who is more sensitive or going through anxiety needs, because it’s not going to trigger their anxiety. Just something to think about for those professional readers out there, If you have clients who are sensitive or suffer from anxiety, pick decks that are more friendly and approachable ie-imagery that is not jarring or confronting, a deck that has a more gentle and supportive approach to the tarot.

US Games knocked it out of the park with the Fiodor Pavlov deck. The perfect balance of card stock quality and the rest of the components. I genuinely don't understand why Llewelyn insist on investing so much into full color books (wonderful option but not necessary) and worst of all, those unwieldy boxes that a lot of people throw out because they take up so much shelf space. It's such a waste, when that money could have gone towards a more sturdy, quality card stock. It's a double shame because so many of their decks feature absolutely stunning art, like this one. Playful Heart uses the same stock as Uusi for their decks like Pagan Otherworlds, and that stock is absolute gold standard. I'd never expect a mass publisher to use that kind of stock, but surely Llewelyn can do better than what the offer now if only they reconsidered their priorities.

Thank you for your indepth and beautiful walk-throughs. I'm a beginner tarot reader, and before I purchase a deck, I like to hear your thoughts, first. This one is currently sitting in my Amazon basket.
The eight of swords card has me intrigued but that's because I'm still fluid with the actual cards meaning. I loved this card because I could relate to it.
Me, having a nightmare, feeling powerless and not knowing it's all an illusion.
Eventually, I'll awake and realize it was only a dream.
I had the power all along. I have now practiced Astro traveling and can control my dreams.
    It's so much fun!
I just need to remember to do it when I'm dreaming. 😁🪄🛌

That Llewelyn proofers could make such a mistake with 10 and 11 in majors and also not put a core in the cards is so disappointing.
The creators did an exceptional job in creating a beautiful deck.

    • @Lisa_Papez
      @Lisa_Papez  Před rokem +1

I don't think they forgot the core or skipped out on it. Cored cardstock for tarot decks is not actually very common and, when it occurs, the price point reflects it - so it's not something you'll typically find in mass market tarot decks. :)

The art is beautiful but I can not handle glossy linnen cards. It makes it impossible to see the images clearly in most lighting. I'm actually not a fan of linnen stock as a rule because of how distracting it can be to my eye and don't use Tarot of The Divine because of that.
The art is beautiful though. Love the subtle details and seemingly small changes the artist made. It looks really well thought through. I can see why so many people love it.
