2022 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone | The Italian Bonneville!

- The 2022 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone is a middle weight modern classic motorcycle, in competition with the Triumph Bonneville T100 and Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
The Italian version of the classic British Triumph Bonneville, the V7 Stone is often overlooked. With its unique and characterful V-Twin engine it is a special ride and in my opinion right up there with the best in its class.

Great review. My V7 is my mental health lifeline. The character of the engine makes it feel alive and willing to take you where you need. It's not the best bike in any one area, granted, but it is a real all rounder, like bikes used to be before they became specialised. Amazingly nimble in town with that low centre of gravity, and the incredibly comfortable seat you can adjust your position on is great for longer journeys. It feels solid and well built and has gorgeous looks that will never fade. All in all a very lovable machine.
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the review 👌 Such a great feel good bike, it really does fill a whole (so to speak). The character from the V Twin and just the whole package oooozes character.
Very well said, great all round bike that can do everything. Keep it simple and soulfull! Cheers and enjoy the ride
Yeah I really want one. There's always one parked outside my local Halfords and it just looks perfect to me.
Are you the one who gave Pandora that box???
Could not have said it better myself. Great breakdown. I love my 2021 V7.
She's my Italian therapist. 💕
As far as Italian bikes, I have owned a ducati 860, moto morini 500 camel, laverda 3cl 1000, cagiva 650, and currently have a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT 1000 and a 2013 Moto Guzzi Stone 750. Have owned several German bikes to include BMW and Zundaps. Grew up with British bikes--meaning Triumph and BSA. Have never been interested in Harley. Owned several Suzuki's to include 2-stroke models and the Wankel rotary 500. The Moto Guzzis have been my favorite above all the rest. Quirky, reliable, tractor-like in that the Japanese "refinement" is not there--but if you love just being connected to machinery and sound--Moto Guzzi!--mike battle
Sounds like you have experienced a lot of different bikes 👍 Great to hear you love the Guzzi's so much. I can completely understand why, they have a character and charm of their own!
Really like they they are sticking with a V-Twin as well. Cheers
I’m back to biking after 13 years away - waiting for the kids to get older. I’ve just picked up a new v7 stone in grey. I loved the ride home. Absolutely raw motorcycling but refined and with style. I fully recommend this to new and returning bikers.
Welcome back to biking 🤙
Moto Guzzis are really solid, maintainable bikes made for riding around. The v twin, in addition to character and usable torque characteristics, makes valve adjustments very convenient. Plus there is a shaft for those of us that want that. At a good price. Its a wonderful thing, all together.
A great simple bike that has all the character in the world 👍 Love the shaft drive as well!! Cheers
Hi! Can it be serviced without having a dealer?
@@tgs8459 it depends of course on how experienced you are mechanically. If you have some knowledge/ history then yes, mostly. There are complete shop manuals from Moto Guzzi on line, at least for mine and I am pretty sure all of them. It’s a little wonky but it’s complete and all that. It’s good to have at least some awareness of the the most conveniently contacted dealer for parts and stuff. I’m lucky to live about 40 miles from a dealer. Not next door, but not terrible . Basic maintenance is not complicated and you can do it. That’s 98% of the issue.
@@Simulera Thank you for the answer, my friend! I have already talked to several workshops in advance, who said that there are no problems, only spare parts and consumables will need to be ordered in advance. In general, few people know MG, they are not even on the secondary market. Of the official brands represented on our market, there are only BMW, HD and DUCATI, all other brands people order either from Europe, or from Japan, or from the USA. What strikes me is how such an old company as MG with a rich history has a poor dealer network even in Europe itself, not to mention the world. After all, many potential customers are deterred from buying these beautiful bikes by the lack of a dealer network. Thank you again, Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Have a V7 Classic and don't really see too many of them here in the US (starting to see more new Moto Guzzi bikes as a whole though!). It's just such a fun and relaxing experience. Rolling on the throttle sounds like a small block chevy engine with the stock factory Lafranconi exhaust. Nice sweet mellow rumble without sounding obnoxious or ear splitting. The whining from the straight cut gear transmission is a nice bonus too. Any Moto Guzzi bike I've ever ridden feels like a gentleman's bike, but when you twist the throttle, there's no doubt you can feel the racing heritage of Moto Guzzi kick in. When you show up on a Moto Guzzi, you're making a statement. People look and gasp with excitement!
👌 They are such great relaxing bikes thats for sure, and they are full of character! Fantastic riding experience
I have a 2020 V7 and in my life I have only seen 2 Moto Guzzi. I live in Maryland and have only seen 1. I get alot of positive comments on it
What a warm, genuine review made all the better with the addition of your personal reasons for riding.
Thanks so much I really appreciate that 👍 Glad you enjoyed the review
Surprisingly, there’s a Moto Guzzi dealer in town here in Tulsa, Oklahoma where I live. No Triumph, no Kawasaki, a joke of an Indian dealership, but we have a Guzzi. I absolutely love the way these bikes look and I’m adding a second bike to the garage sometime this year to go with the Harley. This is definitely on my short list as it’s just the kind of bike I can appreciate.
👍 That is great to hear! They are such special bikes and are full of character.
Original V7 was 1967 rather than 1976. It's a great bike!!! I have a V7iii and love every minute of it... Benefits over the T100: shaft drive, 6th gear, mine has analog clocks, simple maintenance, more character
Apologies did I say 76!! Also forgot to mention the shaft drive, that is a big benefit in my opinion 👍 Completely agree with all your points and yes much prefer an analog clock! Cheers
Thought it was the 60ies.
I used to live in Southampton and ride in the new forest alot, it's great to see you enjoying those familiar roads on a beautiful bike! Great content, thanks.
Thanks so much I appreciate that, really glad you are enjoying the content. The New Forest is just beautiful, such a great feel good place to just cruise on your bike 👌 Cheers
Got one of these 2 weeks ago..absolutely love it..cracking review of a great bike 💪
Many thanks I appreciate that, glad you liked the review. Congratulations on your new bike 🥳 Brilliant motorcycle, especially love the V-Twin! Cheers
Great review. I have the Special and just keep piling the miles on it. Worth mentioning that long distance pillion riding is excellent too. My wife has suffered some good, indifferent, and terrible bikes in the past and she says that this is without a doubt the most comfortable and a clear favourite. The characteristics of the engine and the overall balance of the bike means that there really doesn't seem to be any handling or feel difference, apart from more cautious braking, of course.
Thanks I appreciate it and really pleased you enjoyed the review 👍 Great to hear that you are enjoying it. That is interesting from a pillions perspective, of course a very important factor if you are riding two up! Definitely another bonus of this bike. Cheers
Agree its a great review of a good bike , always love Moto Guzxi , had a Cali years ago . Really important mental health message because when you are struggling you think you are on your own . Keep up the good work pal it's appreciated 👍
Tanks so much Lewis, I appreciate it and really pleased you liked the review 👍 Nice , would love a ride on the Cali!! Bet that engine had some character to it.
Absolutely, must talk about mental health and help people be more open about it. It can be very lonely, but so important to know that you are never alone! Cheers and all the best
Really enjoyable video, thank you very much. Saw one of these bikes yesterday parked up and thought it looked really nice. Your video was at the top of the screen and I enjoyed your smooth interesting delivery. Your exactly right when it comes to motorcycling bringing people together, how many times do you see two bikers chatting at a set of lights, not the case with cars. You can't beat it. I will be tuning in to your videos from now on, stay well and stay safe.
Hi, thanks so much I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 The V7 is a great bike, so much character and soul to it. Much more fun than the figures suggest!
Absolutely, the bikers bond is strong.
Great review, nice chilled style! lovely bike. You have inspired me to go and look at one today! Must get across to New Forest looks great. Really impressed with the shout out for mental health - so important. Cheers.
Hi, thanks so much I really appreciate it 👍 Very cool bike and I hope you enjoy your test ride
My blue V7 Special arrives next week, stunning bike to look at!
Great review, keep up the excellent channel.
👌 Congratulations on a great bike. Love the look of the special, especially in blue! Many thanks I appreciate it.
Thanks for your review, really enjoyed it.
Hi Mark, it is my pleasure. I appreciate it and really glad you enjoyed the video. All the best
Nice review Angus, you clearly ‘got’ the bike. I have one and it’s lovely,, very relaxing , very soothing to ride. Lots of sensation with rumbles, thuds, whirrs, clicks and shimmy. 👌
Thanks 👍 Glad I could get the feel of the bike across on camera.
Great review! Thanks for sharing your mental health struggle, i used to think that i was alone and blame myself for my weakness. After watching you and BaronVonGrumble opening about it , made me change the way i used to think about myself and mental health.
Motorcycles also make me look forward for the ""sunny days".
It is my pleasure and so good to hear you find motorbiking helps you as well. So many people suffer from mental health you are seriously not alone!
I am learning self compassion to be a huge benefit for mental health. Blaming yourself is a slippery slope, but you must try to stay out of that trap.
All the best to you and happy riding 🙌
Very great show. Thank´s a lot. Just bought me a V7 Stone. Only could drive her for some 40 km. Now I´m waiting for spring. Greetings from Bamberg/Germany.
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Congratulations on your new bike, they are great fun and so characterful. Roll on the Spring! Cheers
Thanks for the excellent review. I bought a V7iii this summer. These days you have to buy a bike without a test ride so it was a leap of faith but I really needed something for my mental health. I love it more each time I ride it and the smile starts when it stirs to life! All that characterful sound and vibe! It’s my motorcycle soulmate LOL!
It is my pleasure and really glad you enjoyed it 👍 A great decision, your leap of faith has paid off!! Such a brilliant feel good bike and all that character just makes you feel alive. All the best and enjoy your riding.
Great review. I thoroughly enjoyed your comments and scenery. You just gained a new sub!
I took my Piaggio scooter to the dealer today and it just so happened that they were preparing a brand new V7 for delivery. I hopped on the sit for a bit and I immediately fell in love with the bike without even riding it...
Thanks I appreciate it and welcome to the channel 👍 They are such cool and characterful bikes. Highly recommend a test ride 😁
Great review and great message, thank you.
Thanks so much I really appreciate that 👍
Fantastic review I'm interested in this bike and this is the most informative video I've seen your relaxed presentation is refreshing 👍
Thanks so much Glenn, glad you enjoyed the review and found it useful 👍 Cheers
Thanks for a great review, bike looks awesome and excellent value for money.
Its my pleasure and glad you enjoyed it 👍 It's a cracking bike!
Great review and spot on your point about it being a great bike for ones mental health. A ride on my V7III Special is good for my soul.
Thanks 👍 Yup the Guzzi's are just so full of character
I absolutely applaud you for your candid remarks about your relationship with biking from a mental health perspective. My prize possession is my 2019 V7 Special--you'd like its analog speedometer and tachometer. My Italian grandmother taught me what real food is all about; I personally think Moto Guzzi teaches you to pay attention to what made you fall in love with motorcycling in the first place. Comfort to my uneasy soul.
Thanks so much Peter I really appreciate that 👍 Motorbikes have really helped me so much with my mental health and continue to do so! I love the Special model, such a great specification. Absolutely great analogy, Moto Guzzi's just feel alive which in turn makes you feel alive. All the best
Just got mine here in the states yesterday. Haven’t ridden in 30 years and this bike is so easy to ride, as if I never stopped. Excellent character and easy to maneuver.
Massive congratulations on getting back into biking and receiving your new bike 👍 Great choice of bike to start riding on again. All about that characterful V-Twin.
20 years for me this is an amazing bike with a unique personality
Really appreciate this review. Looking at a Stone Corsa. This review sold me!
Hi, thanks so much it’s great to hear you liked the review 👍 Such great soulful bikes
Excellent review bro! You nailed it 👍🏼
With you 💯on the analogue dials, far better than the one you tested.
Our local dealership in Wales are hopeless so we’ve never ridden one.
💪 Many thanks I appreciate it!
Yup would love to test the special edition, looks beautiful with the dual dials and chrome etc... Lovely bike this, really like the V Twin and proper characterful feel to the bike. Cheers
Nice to see u watching this. I tried to buy one 18 months ago. In the end I binned it. The dealer was abysmal
Thanks Angus, another good review. I love the look of this bike and having ridden it it's a really enjoyable bike. It's a reminder that having fun on a bike isn't really about power, to me anyway. I like the engine noise, and the feel of the shaft drive. All subjective, but I would buy this ahead of a Triumph T100, though I also like that bike. I have been going up the tree in terms of weight and technology, but there will come a time when I want something different, and it looks like the V7.
👍 Thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed the review. I am surprised but yes I would definitely consider this on pair with the T100. Just the V Twin engine is so special and characterful. Would be a great choice to go back to pure and basic riding. Cheers
So my first dealer made shenanigans with my Svartpilen order, got cold feet and decided to walk away from it. Only to find myself at a local dealer that sells Honda products, Aprilias and Moto Guzzis. There was a base 2022 V7 Stone sitting there with a 3000$ discount since they wanted to sell it quick. Had a test drive.
Honestly, I was so charmed by the engine’s character. I struggle to understand how you can be pushed away by the V-Twin rumble when you push the start button. That’s still giving me the biggest smile.
I say “still” because yeah, I ended up buying the bike. It’s fantastic. If you’re as tall as me (6’4”), just get an OEM windshield and it’ll create a nice bubble so you don’t fight the wind too much.
That seat is so comfy, I love that thing. Any tailbag will be easy to strap on it.
Love, love, love the bike. I don’t think it really needs an exhaust upgrade as the stock sound is very appealing, but you can easily make it sound like a badass Indian or HD.
Great, great bike (I probably sound like Alec Baldwin impersonating Tony Bennett) that costs pennies to insure for some reason, even with that 850 engine.
🙌 so good to hear you enjoy it so much. It really does have so much character and charm. A great buy.
Cheers
I've stumbled upon some videos on YT of MG V7 with Zard slip-ons installed, and the sound is sooo pleasant, rich to bass, rubmling - I now consider getting one myself.
@@dkarbaev It is sound porn, indeed. That being said, in person, I’d say the no db killers Agostini sounds even better. The Zard is deafening, while the Agostini is a sweet melody. Very important difference.
Excellent review. Back into biking after 20 years (kids older now) and picked up the stone here in the states. Always rode the Japanese bikes before, but there is something so unique to the Guzzi that it brings a smile to me every time I’m on it.
Thanks so much I appreciate it 👍 Yes this is the first time I have ever ridden a Moto Guzzi and they are just so much fun and different to anything else! Cheers and welcome back to biking
You sound like me. I feel the same way.
Love the Moto & your video !!! Subscribed !!!
Hi, many thanks really pleased you enjoyed the video 👍
A great involving ride as well. Big Guzzi fan
Great review! Really want to take one for a test ride. Currently riding a street triple which of course is something completely different but i think i would really enjoy this beautiful bike with its v-twin vibes. Ps. There is nothing better for my mental health than riding through beautiful landscapes.
Thanks so much I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Yes the V7 is very different to the street triple! It is great fun and a really involving ride. Thanks for that, I find motorbiking so good for my mental health 🙌 Cheers
Love hearing the touchpoint on mental health at the end. Talking about it should be distigmatized and helps all involved. Cheers.
Thanks so much I appreciate that 👍 Absolutely the more it can be openly talked about the easier it is to overcome. Cheers
Thanks for posting! The next time I am in the UK, I'll be sure to check out the roads of the New Forest. It looks like a bikers paradise! I've recently returned to motorcycling and am beginning to understand the attraction of the Moto Guzzi brand. If you want a machine that will get you to a destination in comfort and with a degree of riding pleasure, this is for you. Fast and furious, perhaps not, but in the way a Patek Phillippe watch "Also tells the time" this is a machine for the "Rider less ordinary." They would appear to be hewn from Italian Granite and their longevity and simplicity are the stuff of legend. With our ever increasing controls on speed etc, the Moto Guzzi motorcycle make a lot of sense. Thanks again. 👍👍
It is my pleasure, and thank you really pleased you enjoyed the review 👍 Yes the New Forest in one of our beautiful National Parks, great biking roads, but definitely have to watch out for the wild horses!
I have been riding for 7 years and have just stumbled upon the Moto Guzzi brand. You summed it up brilliantly, great build quality and a pleasure to ride. Not all about the speed!
Thanks
Hi Angus
Always wanted one these but each time I bought, somehow this wasn’t in my thoughts. Need to correct that one day. Great vid as always. We stayed in the New Forest earlier this year and loved it. Will go back many times methinks!
Den
Hi Den,
Glad I could remind you of it! So pleased I managed to get a ride on one, such a great bike and often too easily overlooked in my opinion. Really recommend a ride 👍
Absolutely, wish I could test ride all my rides there! Beautiful place, just watch out for the horses on the road! Cheers
I had a 2020 V7 rough, had Pirelli knobby tires, an upgraded Agostini exhaust system. A great bike, very unique looking. Engine really smoothed out at higher RPMs. I didn’t mind the low RPM shake and twist. Can it use better brakes and suspension, sure. But for the money spent it’s a good setup, bonus is a shaft drive. Always a conversation starter. My opinion 😎.
👍 I completely agree about the shaft drive being a bonus. I forgot to mention it 🥴
Lovely looking bikes, yes I actually enjoy the V Twin vibes at lower rpm. Then being able to smooth it out once on the move is great. Never mind the brakes and suspension, I want one haha
Hi Angus, good to see you out on a Guzzi. I have the V7iii stone and looks like they have updated the 2022 version in the rights areas, apart from the clocks and the headlight. These Guzzis definitely get under your skin as they are different than everything else out there. I love mine, even though it’s not perfect. Raising the forks through the yokes by 10mm helps the front end steer quicker. The engines are nice and simple to work on and the build quality is good, apart from the suspension. Very reliable and 300 mile range on a tank makes this viable tourer. Love your work young man, keep it safe out there brother…
Hey Jez, thanks it was a great ride 👍 Really liked the V-Twin instead of a parallel! Soo much more character to the ride. Yes shame about the dials. Take a look at the special model, now that is a beauty!!Many thanks I appreciate it and really glad you are enjoying the videos 👌 Cheers and same to you.
Agree, l'd buy the previous version, l don't like the headlight but the display is a deal breaker. It's strange, it's not only Guzzi who provide digital displays on "analogue" bikes, l just don't think their target customer wants them. Great bikes!
great review .lookng forward to more .
Thanks so much Alan, I really appreciate that and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Cheers
Great review, great scenery, great midweight bike.
👍 Many thanks I appreciate it. Great characterful bike
Great review. I bought a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 in January. But, I wish I would have had a chance to look at this Moto Guzzi. I really like the look of this motorcycle!
Thanks so much I appreciate, Really glad you enjoyed it 👍 I am yet to ride the Meteor, however have ridden the Classic 350 and Himalayan, both great bikes.
Yes this Guzzi is brilliant, different price range and power to the Meteor. Perhaps a next bike when the time comes! Cheers
What a great looking bike, reminds me of the BMW rNineT - one of my favourite bikes
👍 it does look very cool. I must say it is not on the same level as quality as the R Nine T!
I have a 2022 V7 Special and it is a joy to ride. I do mostly town riding and run the V Twin in the 2500-3500 RPM range and it chugs along happily without complaint. I find the bike nimble and easy to ride, it does vibrate a bit at higher revs but that's to be expected with the V Twin engine. It has the right tech, ABS and Traction Control but doesn't pretend to be anything but a fantastic modern-classic motorcycle. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Love the look of the Special and I would definitely spend the extra money for it, looks stunning! Really enjoyed the V7, especially the V Twin. Really makes the bike something unique. Thanks and enjoy your ride 👍
These things come alive after 4,000 rpm. Vibration smooths out and the gearbox whine kicks in. Really fun.
I have the V7 Centenario and I love it !
A beautiful bike 👌
Thank you for the review. I've had six of the modern V7 versions and a 750 Breva. I may be going to get another (I agree, digital clocks on a bike like this is not fitting although the tubed tyres on the Special means I may go for a V7 111 - again!). Stay safe, Peter
Hi Peter, 6!! Nice sounds like you have found the bike you love and are sticking with it 👍 There is not much else like them. I would personally go for the Special, just love the look of it! Thanks and same to you.
What a nice ride!
👌 Fantastic bike, often overlooked I think. So refreshing to have a nice classic V-Twin!
What a lovely bike!!!! Guzzi's bikes are so amazing!! Thanx for the excellent review 👍 I enjoy very much. It is my favourite for my age and personality (50 years), to have chill and relax rides with class ✌️. Do you thing it is beginner friendly?! Thanx and cheers mate ✌️
Cheers glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Yes they are such great and characterful bikes, love them!
Yup for sure think this bike would be quite good for a beginner, nice amount of power but not too much. 👌
Love the review, as always. Every video has me go check out what's for sale, lol! Also, and I don't usually ask: what motorcycle jacket is that? Looks great!
Hi James, thanks so much I appreciate that, really glad you enjoyed it 👍 Haha good to hear that the videos can spark some inspiration!!
It is a Merlin Chigwell Light, great mesh summer jacket. Cheers
Somewhat late to the party, but great review, Angus. You've captured the essence of this bike perfectly with your commentary. The 90° v-twin is without doubt, the perfect configuration for the motorcycle and has an abundance of character.
I agree wholeheartedly regarding the instrumentation. They should be analog and the speedo and tachometer separate. Luckily, the Classic version has that together with chromed, spoked wheels and exhaust. Lovely.😊
Never too late, welcome 👍 Thanks so much I appreciate that. Yup the Classic is so much nicer, really worth the extra cash.
Cheers
I own one of these, even the same colour. I agree, it certainly does pack a punch in the character department… 🙂
👌 Great spec choice! Haha yup I can't count how many times I said character in this video, but its a lot!! Love the V-Twin instead of a parallel. Awesome bike. Enjoy
Very good video explained the bike very well.
Regards barry
Thanks so much Barry 👍 Appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers
thats a nice mention at the end there. I sold my bike a couple years ago and soon fell into a negative spiral. I learned a lot about myself and am going through a divorce now so very soon looking into bikes again and this is on top of the list because of simplicity and the shaft drive. as my mum recently moved to 600km down into France. so couldn't imagine the chain maintenance for those regular trips.
very nice video, i've never seen you before and you earned a sub from watching this one video.
Thanks 👍 Biking is such a great form of therapy, really helps clear ones head. Yup I am very keen for my next bike to be shaft drive!
Welcome to the channel and all the best to you
I agree 100% about the lack of a tachometer. It seems like manufacturers are cutting costs in the wrong places.
While it doesn't have a separate tacho unit, the LCD shows engine revs around the top of the dial. I've got a Stone similar to the bike tested, and while I prefer the looks of twin-clocks the single LCD displays the same info as the twin-clocks on the Special models and is easy to read.
Cracking review yet again! 👌🏻
Moto Guzzi, they always drop off my radar but I like them. This one seems to be a pretty good all-rounder. I don’t like the off center instrument cluster though but you mentioned that there is a remedy for that. From the eagle logo in the headlight it’s only one small step to Batman’s logo! 😃
Another topic: didn’t you want to do a detailed review of your HJC helmet?
Cheers!
Thanks so much, I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed it 👍
This bike is often overlooked! In my opinion it is well up there with the best in its class. Love that they have stuck with a V Twin instead of a parallel! Yes the remedy for the lcd instrument is called the Special model 👌 Beautiful!
Hahaha it is very close to the Batman logo, good point. I like that!
Yes I was going to but! Think I will schedule in a video for it. I have gotten used to it now, took a while to get used to the extra wind noise from the flip up section. Have to wear ear plugs for any longer rides now. Cheers
My V7 ii is a lovely ride, not the fastest, not the most powerful etc, buy it always makes me feel good. If I was to replace it ( well I wouldn’t I’d keep it as well ) it would be with a newer 850 version. They are also very very nice to look at and also to modify, mine has a screen and panniers for the distances here in Australia. The only downside is the lack of dealers and factory support, my nearest dealer is 300 klm away. So many are wary , let alone getting to see or test ride one. I fell in love with the V7 sport in 1972 and have lusted after a Guzzi ever since. Great review, thank our.
Hi Paul, many thanks really glad you enjoyed the review. Exactly it is not the fastest bike but speed is not always what it is about. Love the character these bikes have!
The new 850 model is no slouch though. That is a long trip to your local dealer 🥴 I can understand that putting some people off. A shame.
Enjoy your ride
Thank you, great!
My pleasure! Really glad you enjoyed the video 👍
@@redangrevival i sure did! 💫🎉
Hello - Thanks very much for presenting such a great and frank review.
I'm sold on the MG V7 based on your video and having test rode a V7 recently.
Can't make up my mind whether to go for the stone or the classic 🙂
The V twin transverse engine is something else, feels and sounds great.
Thank you...
Hi, thanks so much I really appreciate that 👍 Such a characterful bike, I personally love the Special model
👍👍👍👍👍👍Thank You very interesting
Just bought a V7 Stone a week ago, I think I might prefer it over my T120 I used to have. Perfect bike for me at this stage in my life, and being in the States, it’s nice to ride something unique that you just don’t see around here.
👍 They are such cool bikes. Really unique and different. Great choice
Most complete motorcycle I have ever owned. I buy and sell bikes as a side hustle ("flipping"). Been doing that for 10 years now, soon to be eleven. I ride 30'000-40'000km per year and I ride anything from 200-2000 cubic cm, except for modern super sports, with a tendency towards long distance cruisers and older motorcycles, my 2021 V7 being the only motorcycle I ever bought new (mild regret, coulda gotten it 30-40% cheaper if I was willing to wait 6-12months, for sure).
Great bike, I was really surprised at how much I liked it. Has its faults but they are character in my opinion. Love that they are sticking with a V Twin a well 👌 I bought a 2016 Honda Africa twin new, will never buy new again!!
However if you cannot wait then its the answer!! Cheers
A very interesting bike. Whenever I see them in the flesh, I like them more and more. Character, yes please. Cool details, yes please ( that headlight 😍). Fine looking, classic, slightly impractical, oh yeah! Seen one where they replaced the seat with a velveteen bobber seat 😄
Have a confession to make. Had a head cold this week and had a hot whiskey toddy for two nights to help me sleep. Couldn't even finish the first one. Back on the straight and narrow now. Have to be honest about slip ups 😏
👍 absolutely such an interesting one! Really hits the spot this bike, loved it haha. Just has all the good bits and so much soul. Can definitely see myself owning one of these 😁
Nice bring on the bobber seat.
No worries at all, thanks you for confessing 😉 Think we can let you off for that one, more of a medicinal drink than anything else! Thanks for being honest 👍
I am still going strong and honestly feeling better 😁 Next drink cider to celebrate the CBT?
Hope so on both counts. If I don't pass the CBT on a two day course, I'm getting a 50cc scooter and learning on that, on my car licence 😂. But I AM going to pass👍🏻
@@lilynorthover8378 No probs, you will 👍
Thanks for the video. I’ve been eyeing this bike for quite some time… I’ll go test ride the v7…check out its’ “character”. Lol.
👍 It is my pleasure. Yup get some of that character in!!
Late to comment as usual but here it goes: A few days ago I put a deposit on a V7 Special. I am changing from a chinese CB500X clone that was bought with the mind, not the heart. I had the chance to ride the "sporty" version with the factory Arrow exhaust and I can definitely tell you, this beauty needs a little louder voice!
Somehow this bike is much more than the sum of its parts. Modest HP, budget suspension, skinny tires (yes, I was educated in the colonies 😄) no fancy aluminum frame, shaft drive etc. But if you tell a first grader to draw you a motorcycle I bet it will look a lot like this one.
Let's say I can't wait.
Your shout out to the fellow humans that are struggling with mental issues has earned you my subscription. For my part there is no better medicine than a ride. Sometimes slow, sometimes fast but in the end when you part your ride at home and look back at it as you walk away is where it is at.
Congratulations on your order, such a stunning bike. I hope you really enjoy it and have many great times 🙌
It is all about the character and feel of the bike! Welcome to the channel and all the best to you. Happy riding
Best bike ever. I have the same but the centenario model.
A stunning looking and riding bike, love the Centenario model 😀
When my son was looking to purchase a new motorcycle a couple years ago he looked at quite a number of mostly Japanese bikes. I suggested he look at the V7. So he went to a dealer that sold Moto Guzzi and Ducatti. Once he sat on the MG he knew he found the bike he wanted. I really like taking the bike out for a ride. It is such a pleasure piloting this motorcycle especially around the hills and backroads around where we live. He got the all black V7 and it looks great. I am not as fond of the Special version; too much chrome, spoke rims are a pain, and not as fond of the dual analog gage cluster. The simplicity of the V7 but with nods to modern convenience make for a great reliable fun to ride package. Many of us older riders remember old classic bikes and yes they were fun, down to earth machines. But you were always working on them. These new bikes just run well. Do your routine maintenance and enjoy riding. I actually have my eye on the V85tt. Same motor with higher output tuning in a more upright adventure touring chassis.
They are certainly a different vibe to the Japanese bikes! Just sooo characterful, I think your son made the right choice 👍
BIG kudos for mental health support! It’s a huge and growing issue.
As for the V7, my ocd is stabbing my heart every time I see this dash not aligned in the center 😱😂🫣 I could maaaaybeee live with the LCD style if it would be centered. But mount two analog with some digital help and it’d be perfect!
Thanks I appreciate it. Biking is such a great form of therapy 🙌
I recommend taking a look at the Special V7 model, much nicer. All the best to you
I like these better than the other so-called retros all of which are now sporting Morris Minor like radiator slabs or oil coolers. The Guzzi is authentic.
Agreed I think the Guzzi is the most authentic of the lot 👍 So much character and soul
Great video,Shout out for riding a bike good for your well being all round. I've owned a T100 for 5 years and love it but fancy something different. Im looking at RE 350 classic or an interceptor. The V7 is on radar too, what would you choose having ridden all three for some local chilled riding and occasional pillion? cheers.
Thanks, really glad you enjoyed the video 👍 To be honest I would probably go with the T100. Best quality ride.
Cheers
The Bonneville parallel twin is unequivocally more smoother this Guzzi. The Bonneville feels like a precise watch. I rode the 2022 V7 850 took it to 70 miles an hour and it was still somewhat vibrating. Guzy does have stunningly gorgeous looks from every angle. I get the uniqueness of the shaking but the question is can you deal with it all day long. I love the modern - instead of the dual clocks it fits the bike better the bike is very edgy and that single dash cluster compliments the bike design nicely. The brake pedal looks the same as the clutch with the rubber pad I’ve never seen that
Yes a parallel twin will nearly always be much smoother than a V Twin. That is what i like about Guzzi, they are not trying to be smoother than Triumph's. They have a character of their own
A little late, but I simply had to respond to your comments.
A parallel twin, be it 360°, 180° or 270°, is NOT inherently smoother than a v-twin. I have no idea where you got that from. The reason your Triumph appears smoother us soley because of the addition of balance shafts. The engine that is fitted to the Guzzi is a 90° v-twin, that means it has perfect primary and secondary balance and has no need for balance shafts. If you were to remove the balance shafts on your Triumph, your teeth would shake out!
With respect, please do your research before commenting complete twaddle.🤦♂️
Great review. Would you mind sharing the brand and model of your jacket? I like that as well!
That is I appreciate it. Yes it’s a Merlin Chigwell Light. Great mesh summer jacket
A prerequisite on these V twins is a good set of engine bars 😊
Gotta look after those engines 👌
Great review. Tried many bikes in the last few years and the Guzzi 'character' wins hands down. Am enjoying the V7 850 Special so much I bought a 2015 'Racer' ( just for posing )... this old fella's pension fund rapidly shrinking, so unlikely to add the Mandello........alas ! 🙂
Thanks so much I appreciate it 👍 Yes the Guzzi's really do have a character of their own! Haha everyone has to have a poser bike 😎
Very nice bike in my opinion. I also think the Bonnevilles are more iconic and Triumph plays a better marketing and branding game to attract modern classic aficionados.
Yup really enjoyed the ride, so nice to have a V-Twin instead of a parallel. Yes Triumph put some weight behind their marketing thats for sure, and the Bonneville's are beautiful bikes. I really would consider the Special version of the V7 Stone over a T100!
More iconic but less authentic.
Nice video. I had a 2013 Stone and traded it for a 2017 Bonneville T100 (which I subsequently sold and bought a 2018 Triumph Tiger 800). I liked both bikes, ,but yearn for another Guzzi! My local dealer has a V7 Centenarrio in stock which I find very attractive. I also like the dark blue special and can't decide between the two. I agree with you on the dash. I much prefer the old analog-style gauges. And, there's really no excuse for not including a gear indicator and fuel gauge in the cluster nowadays. I'd be more than willing to pay whatever extra cost this adds to the bike.
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 They are great bikes, the Guzzi's just have a special something to them. Perhaps the Moto Guzzi V85TT may fill the gap! Yes I love the look of the Special model the most 😁
I am torn between the V7 and the V85TT. Which bike do you prefer? How do they handle in comparison to one another? Love all of your reviews!
This is a great review, and those roads really look awesome for a ride. I had the V7II and changed to a V7 Centenario. The clutch is a great improvement, same thing for the rear shocks and the tires (the previous Pirelli were terrible when cold, the new Dunlop gives you more feeling and confidence).
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Yes some small improvements that make a really nice difference, but still retains its classic Guzzi character!
I love my V85 and I'm glad to see coverage of these bikes. They're so much more than the spec sheet and you need to have a test ride before you really understand them.
By the way, what jacket are you using? Looking for some good gear over the winter to use next year.
The V85 and the V7 are both great, such involving and characterful bikes to ride 👍 It is a Merlin Chigwell Light, great mesh summer jacket

Nice Review! 😀
I just want to point out that the engine is actually longitudinally mounted, not transversally as you mentioned. It is the direction of the crankshaft that dictates that, not the position of the cylinders. 😉
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Yup thanks I have since learnt this and I appreciate the heads up! Always learning 👌
Hello! I really liked your video. I have a question for you, is it possible to service MG without having a dealer, it's just that these are so unique and distinctive bikes that I just don't see an alternative to them? For more than a hundred years, bikes have been produced at the same factory, almost manually, who can "brag" about it now. Thanks!
Really enjoyed video.too bad I didn't find this out before I bought my Vulcan s.dont get me wrong the Vulcan is a good scooter.i just like the way those two cylinders stick out.
Thanks, really glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Yes these Guzzi's are unique bikes
The clock is ok but needs to be in the middle, not cocked to the left side. Otherwise a great bike and great video. You forgot to mention the wonderful shaft drive!!!............Sal : )
To be honest I actually did not notice the offset positioning with the clock to start off with!! I agree centre would be better, and analogue. Take a look at the special edition, lovely analogue dual clocks.
I know 🥴 As soon as I finished the review I remembered forgot to mention the shaft drive!! Big bonus. Cheers
Great review, really informative, thanks. What would you suggest to a new rider approaching 60 years, 6"1" who's buying his first bike to use on nice Summer days - some city and country side - have tested the Guzzi and love the feel, still to test the T100 (and may be T120 but think might be too big first out). Will look out for more reviews. Cheers.
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 It sounds like you are on the right track, the T100 is definitely a consideration, I highly recommend trying the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 as well.
More modern style, take a look at the Suzuki SV650 or Triumph Trident 660. Good luck and welcome to the motorcycling community. Cheers
@@redangrevival Thank very much! The interceptor's on my list too. And the new 2023 ducati scrambler nightshift. I'll chekcout the others you mention. It's been fun researching and looking fwd to owning! thanks again.
@@SWH-ch5tf My pleasure and good luck with your search, no rush, its great fun!
Nice one! And yes, if you want/need something new in your life...get a motorbike! Not just for the bike, but for all that follows.
Thanks so much I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 100% very well said, it is so much more than just the bike! Some many good things come with it! Cheers
I’d like the analog dials too wonder if it can be ordered separately for a bike without them on. The Special is sweet but the Special Stone Edition is even better apart from not having the analog dials.
Yes a good point, as far as I know I don't think you can order the analogue dials separately. That would be a great option though 👍
Excellent video, thank you.
Can I please ask how tall you are? I'm 6ft 4" and concerned that it would be too small, with such a low seat height?
Thanks I appreciate it, I am 5'9"
Perhaps a bit low for you, however its a pretty normal seat height in this category of classic modern bikes
Nice review thx! Also, really like the jacket, what is it?
Hi Johnny, many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 It is a Merlin Chigwell Light, great mesh summer jacket.
@@redangrevival thanks for getting back! Looks like it would be a great one here in Texas - thanks again!
I love any twin but v twins are proper bikes, says me riding a Ducati Multi V2S. I’d love a V7 too or maybe the new V100 Mandello. The 23 litre tank means it has a long range too, met quite a few owners touring in Europe.
Can't beat a V-Twin for character and raw experience. This new engine in the V100 Mandello is a beauty 👌
Moto Guzzi owners magazine-Gambalunga= Long legged. Says it all.
👌 That is brilliant!! Really explains the long legged feeling! Cheers
always to see you pop up on my feed you're doing a grand job there, yeah lovely bike just no like the digital clock
👍 Thanks so much Stanley, I appreciate that and great to hear. Glad you are enjoying the videos. Yup I would definitely go for the Special model (stunning)
@@redangrevival Where are you my friend I hope you are well, I placed a depoist on one of these delivery end of month by which hopefully sunnier weather be good to connect and ride
@@stanleylawson9015 Hi, apologies I have been so busy working recently. I will be back on YT as soon as I get the chance. All the best to you and enjoy your ride 👍
What jacket are you wearing? The bike looks GREAT! And the price is right!
It is a Merlin Chigwell Light, great mesh summer jacket 👍
Will always be GUZEE to me , regards Richard London UK 🇬🇧 old biker
Haha was to me as well! Hard to stick with it when everyone picks you up on it on CZcams!! Cheers
Nice review, Angus. My only small comment is that the Stone version could be compared to the Triumph Street Twin (a.k.a. Speed Twin 900) rather than the Bonneville. On the other hand, the Special seems to align better with the Bonneville.
Thanks so much I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Yup I suppose that could be a better comparison.
I definitely prefer the special model. Cheers
Really enjoyed this video. Looking for another ride after selling my 2018 mid range GS. Was not a fan of the parallel engine in this bike as it felt like I was starting a singer sewing machine and the engine idle and throttle was irritatingly annoying. Moving components inside engine were never smooth. Apparently BMW’s engine in these bikes are now sourced from Chinese origin.
Thanks, really glad you enjoyed the video 👍 This engine definitely packs some character and is great fun and involving to ride
Actually, the engine is mounted in a longitudinal configuration - just like a BMW 5 series' engine is also mounted longitudinally. Otherwise, nice relaxing review. Thank you!
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Yes I have since learnt this! Cheers
Hi just got one is the knocking when changing gears 1 to 3 normal thanks
No that doesn’t sound normal to me! I would consolt your dealership
Yup. They clunk when you shift gears with the lever. I assume that’s what you mean by knock.
Could it be possible to swap the display to an analog system? There's an option on the same bike and most analog speedometers are controlled digitally anyways nowadays. I am not an engeneer or mechanic but that's what I think when comparing the special to the stone 😅
Have to be honest, I don't know haha. I guess it could be possible. I really like the Special model
Love the sideways reaction at low revs. That character has been bred out of BMW boxers. Shame. Agree on the clock. Has to be twins.
👍 It is such a great feature, adds so much soul to the bike. Yup I would go for the Special edition
The V7 has been my poster bike ever since I began bimbling around on a 125 scooter four years ago - no wait, correction - ever since I had a book of motorcycles as a nipper. So when I passed my bike test a year ago, bearing in mind I live 10 minutes from The New Forest and 20 minutes from Dierden’s, I bought a Yamaha. I don’t know either…
haha! The reliability and performance of Yamaha's bikes often win people over. Hopefully one day you will find a time to own the V7 👍
@@redangrevival Ha yeah, you’re right - I was weak! Before summer I definitely hope to swap the Yamaha for something that I can park up, be it on the driveway or outside a café, grab a coffee and just stare at for an hour - V7, Z900RS, Bonneville, etc - all different and unique in their own way, but all lookers. And not a ‘telescollop’ fork in sight ;-)✌️
Maybe I missed it, but did you mention it was a v twin...?
Like you, I love these bikes but I'd have the Special model. Not only do you get the nicer analogue clocks, but also wire wheels, nicer paint jobs, and a passenger grab rai. The only thing that's our me off buying a Guzzi in the past is the sparsity of dealerships in my area.
Just love the looks of the Special model, and think it is well worth the extra cost 👍 Reliability and dealer network can be an issue, but hopefully not enough to put you off the bike.
@@redangrevival Nearest dealer to me is 160 miles, so yeah, I won't be getting one.
@@robertbrandywine haha fair enough!!
