It's great when you have sponsors that can provide you with that equipment
Everything can be replicated mate, if these products are too expensive just price out a setup that works within your budget đI had too many cheap products let me down when I was younger. These are the ones I personally trust and use which is want I wanted in this build because Iâm giving it away
Could you do a 40-50k build? Way more realistic for young fella's who don't want to take out a bank loan.
Definitely mate, will be coming down the track. But this build could be achieved for that price with a slightly older car with more kms + some cheaper product options. Or, just be more selective with the mods you put on based on the trips you do!
Broke the budget for most people after buying the car in the first place đ
50,000 new ones sold in AUSTRALIA last year. We wanted to show a quality build on a dual cab 4wd đ€ definitely in a lot of peoples budgets
@@theexplorelife need to see another budget cape York build!! đ€
Also no labor included.
Yeh but most of them are loans that they wonât pay off for a long time
Hang on let me just sell my house and ill be back
Awesome content mate. Donât know why people need to whinge so much about pricing. If ya canât afford it, itâs not your money⊠move on. I for sure canât afford it right now but love to see the quality products and engineering in these builds đ€
Cheers mate!
Well done @explorelife keep up the great work! Love this build mate
Awesome build but were is the snorkel
definitely needs one! Staino or Safari?
Safari â@@theexplorelife
â@@theexplorelife Safari I reckon
A black one
Safari definitely Matty đ€
Well done @theexplorelife
Proving, that if you want something bad enough and you prioritise/work hard enough you can have an Australian lap ready vehicle for under $100k
You donât need a brand new 79/ram/300 with everything on it to see our beautiful country
Better off getting a battery from custom lithium. Twice the capacity for the same price, great company and service
Nah you donât need to buy redarc batteries plenty of other brands that are way cheaper and do the exact same thing and my set up proves that
great work mate, glad you've got a good system! plenty of good brands out there
Hey can I suggest even though you have a tail gate having removable stainless steel covers over the draws so there is table space for food preparation and other activities, pull both draws out you have a full platform flat surface for maybe doing some bush mechanics or whatever....also maybe some storage solution in the tailgate it self with accessible flaps for like recovery gear....
great idea mate!
Awesome build love the tub and cannopy setup. Next build Jeep Gladiator Rubicon itâs one of the most slept on trucks. Full lockers and SFA from factory. đđ»
I would love to see the new prado set up for touring. That would be great episode's to watch. đ
All you need now is diff/transfer breathers, a snorkel and some slider's/ sill protection then and only then the lux will be truly cape/high country ready. I needed all 3 of those items when i did my cape/high country trips in the past.
Id love to see what you would do with a mid sized wagon like a prado.
Thanks for doing something a little bit different and giving inspiration for a reasonable build that "an average bloke" could possibly do.
Love your work matty đ€đ€đ€
Love the build, excited to be in the draw as a member to win it.
Two things Iâm surprised you havenât gone with, especially as youâre making it Cape York Ready, is a set of sliders for protection and a snorkel for the water crossings. Iâm sure who ever wins it wonât have an issue with adding them seeing as they get a car for free, but really thought it would be included, seeing as they are about as needed as the underbody protection plates.
Good luck to everyone in the draw to win an amazing car.
Good old Evans head, good little spot down there. đ€đŒđ€đŒ
Great job Matty. How about a snorkel and rock sliders/side steps
He only paid $36k for the ute. Which is totally reasonable for a used dual cab. I brand new dmax is about $65k and itâs crazy how many of them you see driving around town. I think this is a way better âbudgetâ build than the $5k unreliable shit boxes that has been done before. I enjoyed those videos but that kinda $5k budget is more realistic for young lads who just want to get out wheeling.
And this kinda build is not something you have to bang together in a month, spend all your cash so you have a full on tourer. Itâs more reasonable that someone would put this together over the course of a few years and then do a big cape York trip etc.
You wouldnât be complaining about whether itâs a budget build or not if you won it đ
Definitely mate, the longer you spend in between doing mods the better you understand what you want and how much you'll actually use them
Wish there was something similar to what you do in the states. Seems like some folks don't understand that budget doesn't equal cheap, but it would be cool to see an ultra cheap build as well. The Hilux is sick, if I could, I would've built a very similar truck.
What about some sort of side step or protection for the sides, great episode
So $37k to buy the car, then another $30-$40k in mods. Not so realistic for the everyday person.
Sorry but rubbish. I earn an average wage, my partner is a stay at home mum and doesnât work and I have managed to be able to spend 35k on it setting up my car. I still enjoy dirtbikes and other things. If youâre smart with money itâs easy enough.
Iv been pretty hard on explore life but this is a normal build for most. Remember he has the funds to do it all in one hit. Most build a car up slowly over a couple of years. He needs to do it quickly for the sake of content đ€đ»đ€đ»
Unfortunately itâs just not a cheap option to have a very reliable off-roader
@@georgeparis6729 all relative though. Food isnât cheap either these days but the point is this is perfectly obtainable. Yes his massive ram builds are not but give credit where itâs due.
Matt's not going buy a shitty Hilux with over 250Ks and some rust off FB marketplace. This is a classy channel lol!
Another amazing built may the best person win
Great looking touring setup...I'm in the States so the only thing missing is the gun rack for hunting đŠđđ
surely to be cape ready needs a snorkel, Would like to see some bush proofing items, Fuel filter, Catch Can, Diff Breathers, Rock sliders or steps. Good series though stepping back into achievable builds for majority
Yep I want it
Hey Matty, are you gunna throw a snorkel on it. Not a Cape York ready rig without a snorkel. đ
Must not have found a snorkel sponsor yet
Itâs the Bluetooth model
Nice matty
hi Bud great build, one extra i can think of is some anti thief system or kill switch or something would be great. special with youth crime as bad as it is
We need diff locks diff breathers snorkel and solar panels
Diff locks yes...can't use a snorkel anyway with all that gear sitting low in the bed so this truck is water to the axles only.
Read diff lock comes standard
Can we get a rundown of that 2500 Ram at the start đźđź
It's a complete build series of it, just look it up.
Needs a compressor thrown in there i reckon especially for a cape trip, btw redarc are good, i love their bcdc charger, mine is a 40ah and didnt cost that much more, but 2k for 100ah battery⊠geezs, they really need to adjust their pricing a bit there, eventually people will just tune out and get something else no matter the reputation.
I'd be AfterPaying 1 accessory at a time
Add another 10k in labour for fitting everything professionally i reckon.
I'm from south Africa and there's no ways I can afford the membership to enter this raffle, but WOW this car is so sick. Hilux or cruiser have to be my dream cars
Fucken love it mate, canât wait to win it, love the channel, keep em coming.
Oh yeah, just chuck a rtt on it for me as well mate.đ
If it were mine I'd want to add rock sliders, rear step with rear quarter protection, snorkle and fire extinguisher.
great ideas mate!
The lights and grill are from a newer one than before, did you change the front end?
yeah mate! full runthrough at the end of the video
I would at tailgate flip out table
Great car, at least it wonât just fall apart half way through cap York
Dream build.... if i won lotto thats what i'd do. Best of luck to whoever wins it . Great job guysđđ
Where are the rear lights from?
Epic truck
Definitely needs some side steps to protect the seals
Build a defender 110 2016
U and Nav are right.. should of kept the Lux đđ
What boat is it?
Matty, make a Nav fourby. I vote Delica :)
Can you bring back the nissan gu with a different set up
nice đ
bahahahah! lmfao "...which is a disgrace!" :D
Snorkel and side steps or sliders.
I think people need to understand to spend within means and modifying any vehicle is an expensive hobby. I have a mn triton and ran the dobison 2 inch lift and had some others total build was nearly 50k. Bought the car for 18k.
You should get a mahindra pick up s11 or do a review on it and test it out
Would be interesting!
@@theexplorelife yea
@@theexplorelife and show everyone you donât need a big 4x4 with everything on it show I reckon you should
Wouldnât it be cheaper to buy a camping trailer and tow it? Compared to doing a build like that?
could be mate, depends on the trips you want to do
Still blows my mind that people like this still think 70k is "super achievable for every day Aussies. It just isn't not many people have that laying around the normal Aussies would get a loan for the Ute then spend next 5 years saving to get it to that stage I'm 4 years into building my dream cruiser and hole thing only owes me 30k and it's built cheapest as possible
Definitely mate! We build these vehicles quickly but the idea of staging the build out is to represent the modification stages most people may choose over several years of ownership.
Needs wheel flares, and a blue tooth snorkel.., just joking nice work
Should build a new gen ford ranger for your guys channel as a tour vehicle
I decided to use msa drawers in my cruiser, because they were suppose to be the best, i didnt care how much they were because i wanted the best, they are crap, they rattle on the guides and it drives me nuts, i contacted msa who ignored my problem with it, i wish i had of used drifta
Buy a new SR5 or go grab a Dmax or Ranger for the camera crew nav etc. tax write off haha
A UHF will go a long way?? đ€
Come on Matto, seriously??đ
5-6kms ain't a long way bro, especially when your in dusty flat remote outback country and the rear of group slows and you loose Coms as the rest drive off, one then starts to panic!đź
STILL fit your UHF...BUT ALSO as extremely cheap insurance, fit a backup coms, best being a 'HF' - AM/SSB CB, (27Mhz) for when one is way out remote bush, one of the vehicles (film crew) go a little too far, turn off or go AWOL and get lost OR the last person in the convoy stops for dust or emergency, having a AM/SSB CB you will ALWAYS reach each other in the convoy - period!
You still keep and use your current UHF as per normal...but once you DO loose signal or group contact on your UHF, reach over and pic up the AM/SSB CB mic and call out - you will make contact with them as well as all others around you in a 30km+ radius with AM/SSB CBs.
Just on 'AM' alone, you get up to 33km! Go press the SSB button..you then have a 15watt HF COMs for contact up to and over 80kms! (even some certain nights, you can get well over 4000kms!)
For a while now, all the pro 4x4 touring guys, have a AM/SSB CB hidden away usually under their seats (due to sponsorship commitments)
for contact when they are way out on outback remote roads.
Even GC from 24/7 a while back saved a guys life when he used his AM/SSB CB to call out for RFDS assistance during a remote trip where due to the heavy rain depression cloud in remote Australia after a cyclone, where they couldn't get any satellite signal locks on either their Satphones or PLBs!!
YES - 'AM' CBs are legal and why many off-road and 4x4 pros are using them again, not just for the guaranteed coms between each other, but chat is alot more professional and serious as there is WAY less swearing and Yobboism! đ
Ebay has second hand 'AM' CBs for just $25-50, or Uniden do sell brand new $120 'AM' (510/520xl) or $220 AM/SSB CBs ('980 SSB') for those serious 4x4ers who always want Coms with the rest of the group no matter how far you stray or when all others in your group slip away.
Just a little bit of free advice for everyone..hope this helps those 4x4ers with 'communications anxiety' when travelling remotely. đ
Cheers đ»
I'm for South Africa can I enter in this .
Aussie residents only sorry mate!
It would be awesome if you could let us kiwis enter these comps
Snorkel, slidders to protect door seals
Great ideas!
Polls have suggested most 4x4ers spend less than $10k in mods.
đđ
No water tank?
Jerry can in the back works fine đ
Snorkel?
Wow it's a Fortuner haha
Bro is sick of seeing people getting themselves into massive debt for a rig that depretiates the instant it drives away from the lot.
"You can replicate a lot of these other products with cheaper, umm, products from other shops."
37k for an SR5, how many 100âs of 1000ks does it have.
Had 160k when we got it! It is an SR model
go the Roofy
It's all good for you. You will sell it on for a profit.
How many people? What % can afford that? Your selling dreams and merch.
This build came in at the price of a stock new Ute. You can build them far cheaper than this but Iâm not going to promote rubbish products that are going to let people down
â@@theexplorelifenot going to go against your sponsors and promote better products
@@danielpetersen753 Mate we only run good products unlike other people we pick our sponsors mate if I want to run other gear I do đ€
why didnt you go for a safiery/victron system in the big ram? no offence to redarc, they are a quality aussie brand and i rate them highly, but they are not at all high end or market leaders in my opinion, they are on the same level as enerdrive, projecta, intervolt etc... not meaning to sound like a wanker but if your gonna invest the amount of money you have into that ram i honestly would have thought you would have put a much more serious and capable system into it
90amp charging, 3000w inverter and 400ah of Lithium should be more than adequate for what we're doing. Redarc make a quality product, are aussie made and helps keep jobs here.
@@theexplorelife I'm all for the Aussie jobs bro fully agree on that one. Just saying if your building the ultimate rig you gotta have the ultimate electrical system. 160amps of bidirectional charging capability yeeww
@@ulehuleh yeh mate I think Iâve used Redarc for the last 10 years itâs never let me down itâs more than whatâs needed for a 4wd and I know I can trust the system 100% in the heat in the cold on corrugations. It works flawlessly so I have no need to change đ€
@@theexplorelife fair call bro well enjoy it...the truck turned out mint
Snorkel???
Surprised you spent so much coin and didn't go a snorkel
Yes, you can. Just purchase a 2006 4x4 Ford courier with a toolbox on its tray and turn it into a camperised ute for under 15 thousand dollars.
You beauti.đ
shaaaaaaweat!!!!!..
đâ€đ
Do you need 100k just to go to Cape York ?
Definitely not mate, can do it in a stock rig if you wanted! This is just a comfortable, rugged setup to do it in
Hilux with that new canopy would do me just fine! Swag in the back and hit the road!
@@jasonclark950 some of the best trips are in simple set ups đȘđȘ
Hong Kong Taxi Drivers have had PTT on their radios for the last 15 years welcome to the normal world.
Shes beautiful no doubt đ
First comment
And it was pointless. Congratulations
You say it's Cape York ready but that thing wouldn't do any of the iconic tracks, first water crossing car wrecked
Just triple the price for the USAđą
Did the costs include installation
Nah mate, i mention this at the end but a lot of these mods you could do yourself to save coin
He's lost touch with the common man đ
How so mate ?
I blame the 80s porn star Moe
Itâs a Ute not a truck
Maaaate
Awesome build
Awesome channel
Cheers to everyone who put that vehicle together đș
How accurate is the fuel gauge with the new tank
now, how we can make money
You can build a quality 4wd yourself and save heaps of money unlike the majority of youtubers with builds done by 4wd companies with freebies. Some of these products being promoted can be done cheaper with as good or better options. Some of these added options aren't required like msa dropslide, expensive seat covers, floormats and the brown davis tanks are absolute rubbish. Failure upon failures with cracks and fatigue.
I'm no expert but so many overrated products.
brown davis tank defo your weakest link
that bad boy will crack
I think you are loosing me as a follower, I loved when you travelled to remote places, we watched every week. just my option thou.
Weâre back to travelling full time soon mate! But thanks for the feedback
Inverter??
Snorkel ?
