As much as I complain, I have to admit, while living in the US, I would have never imagine living and loving the things I do today.
Talk to locals, get to experience the real local life.
Serbia has wonderful cities, but the villages are magical and you should not miss them when you come to Serbia.

You are back in Serbia again👍 and now you discovered the true Serbia. The Cityes are more Westerneyzed, yes some % autentic, but that was 100%autentic.

Whenever someone visits Serbia it is Belgrade or Novi Sad. You guys discovered beautiful things even to average Serb 😊 btw, I'm a Roms Gypsy but love my country, Serbia, and sometimes miss it bcs I live abroad for more than 4 decades. Serbia has special warmth.
Yes, Belgrade and Novi Sad are great but there is a magic in smaller towns that cannot compare to the city life. Two years ago we went to Negotin and loved it. Hope you get to come back to visit. Thank you for watching us 😊

My father belonged to labour class and at least my surrounding didn't steal nor were beggars. Nowadays my grandchildren listen to black metal, and it's terrible. You should better look into your yard, you will see a lot of bad things. I helped many Serbs, Croats and Bosnians to find a job here in order not to starve from hunger or to be thieves or beggars. In what country? Ouf! We could be sitting talking for hours! On the top of my head, I think of Ha Giang in North Vietnam (and a few more villages where the famous motorbike loops goes through).
In India, some parts of Goa... The hill stations in Kodaikanal and Ooty...

I was on a camping in Balta Berilovac with my parents a loooong time ago. Beautiful nature and beautiful village, you can catch like a real part of history there. You can almost drink water from stream how clear it is. And just now I got back from Sokobanja (close to Rtanj and Ozren mountains). Pretty same story, very hospitable people and really beautiful serene nature. Serbia's beauty is in the small villages and communities, and not in big cities, I cannot agree more. I wish you good time in Serbia, and check some other places too, you will not be disappointed.
That is exactly the town we were in. The stream wasnt very clear this time, but they explained it was because of the recent rains that have moved the mud too much. But indeed, was wonderful! We are taking notes about Sokobanja. I see there is a hammam there. We will be here for another 6 months or so, and looking forward to seeing more and more. We lived here before and got to go to Negotin, Subotica, Novi Pazaar, Uvac, Mokra Gora, Sombor, Novi Sad and Backi Monostor. But we have an endless list of places, now adding Sokobanja. Thank you!

This reminds me of when I travelled through rural China alone, people were so friendly and would invite you in for food. Much more enjoyable than big city travels.
I agree 100%. Its so sad to see vast majority of tourists just visiting the same sights in same cities while its the rural Serbia thats the most beautiful and unique. You should visit caves, our caves rock. Pun intended :P And yes, if you ever feel hungry and find yourself in a village, you can always count on a hospitality of the locals, so dont be afraid to ask, they will feed you, make you feel loved and enjoy it even more than you will :D
"Our caves rock!" We will def want to see the caves! Every recommendation is welcomed. We don't want the small towns to be filled with foreigners either, that will kill the magic of it though. We want to help preserve the beauty of it. But def more people should venture to see the beauty of this country.

I have friends in Belgrade and Novi Sad but always enjoy getting on a bus to a small Serbia town. I remember visiting Lazarevac which is near to the site of the Battle of Kolubar River (sic). A nice, laid-back place and people were friendly and hospitable. On another occasion I visited Smederevo and got chatting to a local who remembered the UEFA Cup game between the local side and the team I support, Ipswich Town. Although some people may be deterred by the very flat landscape the Vojvodina has some fascinating places to visit. In addition to the Serbs there are Hungarians, Romanian and Slovaks among others. A bus from Belgrade via Pancevo will get you to Kovacica which is an ethnic Slovak village. Your advice about visiting Serbia applies to any country; get out of the capital and visit smaller settlements and the countryside.

Slowly but surely, we are getting Lieles to do more walking, yay!! One day, we will go to the Philippines. We were with the family who adopted the doggie we saved two months ago, they are Filipinos and they always bring us some sweets and food. Last time was binangkal, and this time a big cake she made. We live in Belgrade, so we have gone through the last few storms, last week since we were in Stara Planina, we were lucky to just have a couple of rainy days. The first storm about a month ago was crazy for sure, trees on the floor and more. Which one is your neighborhood?

There was a really big one on 1st or 2nd of August, strucked Kalna and Babin Zub area pretty hard, with wind , and hail, and thundars shaking ground... I see now you were lucky to miss that "pleasure"... because you would not call it a "rainy day" :)

I'm Serbian and I'm most proud of the openness we have but sadly only in villages where old people still rule 😂 and it's the same in our eternal enemy country, Albanian village people at least in some parts have the same kindness to everyone and kind of pride in the being a good human

Like you say go more to the small village in Serbia..i was born in the South of Serbia (Kruševac) when we make some Hollidays like last year or maybe this year we dont visit Belgrade any more,for me and my Family is the smaller Citys or Village perfect for me and my Kids. So much love in this little Citys 😊

As he gets older he should really get an hour of cardio per day just to be safe. I do and that's good because it beats diabetes meds. Type 2 is actually easy to manage with exercise - you don't need anything else.
Thank you! Yes, he was treated for Diabetes type 2 and was able to regress to pre-diabetic levels. He lost 30 kilos just by eating healthier and doing some exercise. Thank you for the advice, he plays basketball often, so that helps, but he should walk a bit more for his heart. Thank you!!

Absolutely! We are lucy we have friends here that take us and translate for us, but we traveled southwest two years ago, and even though we didn't speak any Serbian, we were able to communicate somehow and it was a wonderful experience.

It has good side's definitely, u almost can't experience anything bad in cities here, but country side is cheap, authentic and beautiful. But u need more time. I have been living here 25 years, still haven't explored a lot of places

@@mihajlojovic8631 I don't mean to say anything bad about the country, I am a foreigner, my wife is Serbian and I actually plan to move long term to Serbia, but something I have noticed is that it isn't necessarily uncommon to experience bad customer service with seemingly rude/aggressive recpetionists/etc and people may appear a little more 'cold' than some other countries (little to no smiling/greeting you on the street when walking past, etc)
I have only been really to two big cities in Serbia and not really anywhere else in the country, so there is that.

As far as I understand the national costume and Serbian customs, especially since I live in eastern Serbia, I would say that the costume that grandmother dressed you in is a Wallachian national costume. Women look very beautiful dressed like that, especially with a flower in their hair!
