Had my RS since last year and I totally agree with your "hardness" comments. I just contacted them about it. They are offering to "core" the foam to help break it in and make it softer.
Thank you!! That was very informative!! Enough to make me look elsewhere for my 08 Street Glide. The fit alone is bad enough , but who wants a rock hard seat and the backrest shows to me the shoddy engineering that went into this so called Road Sofa. Thanks again!!!
Thanks for this review. You are correct, their is little of any review info out there about this seat. I have been researching seats for my 2017 R/G special and have tried so many the list is getting long, I ordered a CVO R/G special 2018 seat set that looked fantastic but was sooo uncomfortable, then a H/D Tallboy seat, then a Mustang Super Touring seat, which I have to say is very comfortable but is made for a bigger man. It is 19" wide and about 2" back from stock. It absorbs bumps well, I just sit to far back and 19 inches wide is way more than I need. Was really hoping the Saddleman seat was going to be the answer but just the poor fit that you show would drive me nuts. Thanks again for the great review
Thanks for the honest review! I’ve heard mixed things about this seat, and I’ll probably look elsewhere thanks to your input. It definitely has nice lines and looks pretty good, but it seems there are better options for the long haul!
Great review! Crazy they call that seat the Road Sofa! I would have thought it'd be cushy and soft with that name! Guess I can cross a Saddleman off my list!
Thanks for the review John. I agree it's tough getting independent advise on any seat. I was seriously considering the Road Sofa from Saddlemen but your review has turned me off. Thank you for this. I'll keep looking
future reference saddleman's tend to be a bit more stiff than Luckydave's and HD seats.....however, after a month or two it does soften up if you're a daily driver.....
I don't understand you saying your seat color was grey I have one and it's blaCK and yes it IS STIFF Don't like how the backrest falls forward and the seat is not that comfortable I'll probably be replacing it sometime down the road
Thank you for your review! This seat should be returned to the distributor due to defective design flaws. It clearly does not fit your vehicle, hopefully you submitted the correct year make and model on your order. I am also in the market for an upgraded seat for my 2018 HD Street Bob so far Lucky Dave's is in the same China quality as the seat you have from Saddlemans. It is a shame that manufactures like to force upon consumers their poor workmanship standards from non experienced workers with, "the once you install the item and find it unacceptable due to poor workmanship and fraudulent representation you can not return due to their return policy". Will they will not have very deep pockets for long American consumers are filing class action civil lawsuits as an inexpensive way to fight back against fraudulent manufactures misrepresentation of their products with there unbelievable clauses which consumers believe are legal. Making America great again is an inside job!
Been riding for 30 years and logged a ton of long distance trips. Too soft OR hard is no good. Firm is great if the seat is contoured to your body just right. I could tell this seat wasn't perfect for me.
Have you done much long distance riding? Harder seats are generally better for that sort of thing. I noticed you said you went 90 minutes without butt burn. In a firm seat, if you sit upright, your weight is mostly on your seat bones where it belongs. A soft seat evens out the pressure more (which feels good in a showroom or on a short ride), but the rest of your bum ain't made for it. Blood pools, skin gets irritated etc. The issue isn't that a firm seat is bad, it's that the crappy "slammed" shocks that Harley puts on those bikes simply have too little travel, spring rate, and damping. Consequently, their prone to bottom out, leaving your backside to absorb the energy. Is a shame about the floppy backrest, color, and poor fitment.

They also state the seat will be firm at first and it will take about 500 miles to soften and it will go down 1/2” - 1”.

Can't the backrest bolts be tightened?

Wow! Thanks for the review. Now I don’t know what to get. I’m in search of a long distance seat for my street glide. What seat did u buy next?

this seat it fit for street glide 2014?
I bet if you install the backrest correctly it will work better. I don’t have any problem with mine.
It just clicks in the slot there's nothing to install.
Great review thank you
Thanks for the review. I think the colour contrast looks ok but that's just my opinion.
What did you end up going with??
Did the seat get softer??
So it’s uncomfortable ?
thanks for review, been looking for a seat but def turned off from this one.

You still have the seat? Did it break in or something?
Sent it back and now I have a CVO Solo seat and it fits like a glove and it's surprisingly comfortable. Check out my review on the Seat and Backrest.
Well done John. Good info!
You didn't even get the 5lb backrest weight?! WTH!😳
Did you end up keeping seat? Did it get any better comfort wise?

Honest review. And overvall a bad 1
I don‘t know if it is comfortable but shure enough it looks horrible
I was ready to throw down the cash for one of these. After your review I am going back to look at Mustang's instead.

You do realize that there is a “break in” period on those seats, right??....come back in 2 months and do a review
