- A few locations in the Mach Loop over a couple of days bagged some USAF hardware out of RAF Lakenheath along with an Airbus atlas A400M from RAF Brize Norton and a Chinook out of RAF Odiham.
Next week I should have some footage from Zigairmeet 2023. The line up looks great as does the scenery.
Thanks as always

When I’m really depressed I like to watch jets take off and land….reminds me of my Dad and husband!
How
I bet these fighter pilots really enjoy their jobs. I have met fighter pilots in the past at Nellis AFB here in Nevada where their Fighter School and Red Flag exercises are held. They are very dedicated people indeed. I remember the most was a National Guard F-15 fighter pilot I forget which state but he was a professional lawyer in his civilian life, was former active duty and flew during the First Gulf War and the No Fly Zone after. Became a lawyer doing criminal defense, his prior life as a fighter pilot on active duty gave him the character to be the best at his profession. Flying jet fighters was his only escape either on training or deployments he kept his mind focused on every mission. He fulfilled his dream as a fighter pilot since he was a kid.
I live ten miles due west of Nellis and in the morning, many jets are heading out to play about four miles north of me. When they're done with their exercise, they return right over my house a thousand feet or two up, headed back to Nellis. I can watch them pass over as a loose flight of four and then as they approach Nellis, tighten it up to a precise group. Most of my neighbors call that Freedom Noise!!
@@VegasMikeP229 I remember when I worked at Nellis with Air Force Security Forces Red Flag in the Spring and Summer and Aviation Nation in the Fall was great.
@@reddevilparatrooper We've probably walked past each other then. Been going to AN for years now. Last year sprung for the VIP seats and found them to be a great place to watch. So what does Nellis do? No AN this year...argh!!
@@VegasMikeP229 Honestly I don't know? I noticed when I used to work at the Cannery on Craig the Air Force have been doing bomber squadrons in the Fall. I see the unit and squadron patches along with fighter squadrons as their strike package escorts.
How'd you get past the artillery?
Nothing like the Roar of these amazing aircraft. We just had our annual airshow here in Milwaukee, Wisconcin, USA last month, Blue Angels were on point as usual. Thanks for the Helo, that is were i served in the U.S. Marines CH-53E.
Love the plane-spotting doggo.
So good, thankyou! The amazing stills in the video and (of course) the pure sound, just amazing. The slow lumbering hercules and chiook against the F35 I loved.
Glad you enjoyed it Anthony.
Many thanks for watching.
Thank you once again Dafydd for going out and doing this I love it I really do. My ex hubby was in the military and every day watching the air craft flying over it was heaven I loved it. But my health is deteriorating now so I'm stuck in all the time but when I can see these it brings back happy memories so please if you can keep doing them. Those pilots are brilliant.
Many thanks Michelle and sorry to read about your health. I’m Happy my videos bring you some enjoyment😎
Cheers Dafydd. Looking forward to the Swiss stuff, love that location. ✌🇦🇺
Thanks Pete. Can’t wait!! ✈️✈️👍
The hillsides of that valley would be a wonderful place for a little retirement cottage. Of course that cottage would need an observation deck with a comfy recliner.
Indeed ✈️✈️👍😍
… and triple glazing for days you want to do indoor stuff. 😊
... and a portable fridge or cooler by the recliner loaded with local beer! Watching those aircraft raises a thirst! 😋
These guys buzz my roof in Penrhyndeudraeth on their way to the loop and it gives me tingles everytime... awesome footage Dafydd as usual 😊
Yes we occasionally hear them call in from the lleyn, trawsfynydd then loop. Your in a great spot up there 🏴✈️👍
Thanks for watching
Diolch
Super amazing 😍 greetings from Ecuador 😊
Thank you! Cheers!👍
BRILLIANT 👌🙌🙌🙌
This has to be on my bucket list list to visit this place one day 💯👌👌👌👍😎
Happy you enjoyed it. Hope
You get lucky when you visit ✈️✈️✈️🤞
superb photos and video😁😁😁
Many thanks
Magnificent photography and videography!! Nuff said!!
Thank you kindly!
Another excellent video Dafydd. Perhaps one day you can document your journey from the parking lot up to the viewing spot. It looks like quite a hike. 😊
Thank you!, I have a plan to do a short vid showing a few bits of what I do soon. 👍
Hats off to the ground crews who make those birds shine!
Looked like a Very fruitful day! Even doggo got into the spirit. 😁
"Lemme go, I can get it I can get it I can get it!"
Great shots as always, brother! Thanks for the upload!
Any time, thanks for watching
Wow Dafydd, you've done it again. Fantastic footage and love the way you intersperse with still shots. 😀
Many thanks!
The Atlas is big and slow, but it's still pretty cool in it's own way. I wasn't a big F-35 fan, but thanks to your videos and amazing stills, it's starting to grow on me.
Thanks for watching!
Appreciated. 👍
I get chills watching a video! Can't imagine actually being there.
It’s a great buzz, thanks for watching
Great action over there Dafydd, always love this scenery in your videos 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks 👍
Just Brilliant Dafydd. Thanks as always matey.😃
Cheers frank 👍
The fighters are ok , but the air trucks are more fun to watch cruising through the mach . The last sequence , wow . Well done Dayfdd .
Thank you Jon 👍
Wow. The hi-res photos are stunning Dafydd. Thank you for bringing all this content to us!
Another Best from Dafydd. Thank you
Thank you too!
One of the few remaining joys of modern life is watching and hearing these tremendous machines. Somehow, I don’t think watching horse drawn carriages in the would have given me quite the same thrill, no matter how fast they were going.
Brilliant photography, as always, Dafydd.
Many thanks 👍
Dafydd, excellent videography and as many have noted, incredibly detailed “stills”! Hard to imagine being so close to the action. Looks like chilly weather….
Thanks for the work you put into sharing these
Many thanks Tim. Appreciated
My dad retired from active military years ago. I was born on Pease AirForce base when my dad got home from Okinawa in 1975. My mom was a nurse in the AirForce. He retired but he was always able to pull some strings. We lived in the base for a few years. so as a baby I was around some pretty cool stuff and some awesome people. I’ve got some great photos from that era. Thanks to all
Epic mate
Great footage. Especially of the Chinook and the C130 . Brilliant stuff buddy
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Neil.
Thank you for posting this!!
Thanks for watching Paul 👍
Great Filming better than any airshow
Omg the noise is incredible. Makes my hair stand on end. You’re so lucky! I seriously need to move to the Mach loop!
Happy you enjoyed it! It occasionally can be good ✈️✈️👍
Rich variety.
Love the flight of the F-35, looks cool and nervous in its flying sure sign of a phenomenal opponent in a telephone booth knive fight.
My dad flew fighter jets in the Air Force. Amazing pieces of machinery
I know it probably never happened but being an old Tomcat maintainer, I would've loved seeing them flying The Loop. What would've really been beyond super cool is if you Dafydd, had been able to film or video it.
I don't know about anybody else but not only do I find your videos top notch, they also help really relax me. Thank you.
Many thanks. I’ve asked a lot of old schoolers and no one knows of a tomcat ever visiting the loop. Star Wars canyon would of been an everyday occurrence back in the day.
Yes, Star Wars canyon would have definitely been the place. I have several photos of them there, along with some A-6 Intruders and a couple of other types.
Ah, but still, to dream...
Thank you for confirming with the old school folks. Give them my thanks if you will please.@@DafyddPhillips
spectacular again! Thanks!
Thanks again! 👍
Amazing photography of awesome planes
Những người phi công bay biểu diễn rất ấn tượng và hấp dẫn. Bạn rất tuyệt vời 🇺🇸👍
What was the RAF cargo plane? I thought it was a C-17 when it first entered the loop, but then saw it had turbo prop engines with a high T horizontal stabilizer. The first time I saw this plane. Your videos and photos give me the FIZZ. Retired USAF SNCO. I never served in the UK, but I did serve 6 years with the 366th CW from 96 till 02. The Wing had a squadron of KC-135s, a squadron of B-1s, a squadron of F-15Cs, a squadron of F-15Es, and a squadron of F-16s. The wing has a rich history and earned the nickname of GUNFIGHTERS for their actions during the Vietnam conflict. The wing flew F-4 at the time which did not include a canon. The pilots wanted a canon, so they had the crew chiefs and armament personnel attach a gun to one of the hard points. The mig pilots got a big surprise when they discovered the F-4s could wax them with a canon of their own. They became known as the gunfighters and have carried the name ever since. I always enjoyed seeing the wing fly their one of a kind Gunfighter Formation at regional air shows. "The Drive" has an article dated Jul 27, 2018 titled "Remembering When The 366th Wing Was An Experimental Rapid Response ‘Air Force In A Box’" where you can see pictures of this unique 8 ship formation all of the wings air frames with MO painted on their tail. Sorry for rambling. Thank you for sharing your work.
It’s an Airbus a400m. Thanks for watching and your interaction. 👍
Very cool thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching
We can not wait to come down again in 2 weeks' time. We are staying in Barmouth, so it's near the loop. Hopefully, I'll see you there. Graham and Sonya.
Thanks Graham. Be great to catch up 👍✈️
Động cơ máy bay chiến đấu, Nghe rất khủng khiếp. Những người phi bản lĩnh 🇺🇸👍

Thank you.
Amazing....tks
Thank you too!
Great as usual. How about a little bit of your hike up the mountain from parking lot. I would love to see what you do to get to the photo location.
I would set up a comfy recliner on that hill top and watch allllllll day long.
I like the Stills. Incredibly detailed
Thank you.
Secretly the best fighter ever created
Superb and marvellous 😎🤩
Thank you so much 😀
@@DafyddPhillips ahh you are gladly welcome sir especially the ferocious condensation from the F-35A Lightning II and F-15E Strike Eagle 😁👍
F15s are badass where ever they go!
Agreed! 👍
Top video Dafydd, thanks.
Many thanks
Throwing an airbus around like a cork in bathwater - but with exquisite control!
Great camera work! And the still shots are awesome!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you. 👍
Pretty cool !
A few have flown overhead recently, but with low visibility .
Fantastic spluffage Daf !
Thanks fred Cheers!👍
Top notch...best wishes from the wirral....E...😊😊
Many thanks 🤞
The vapour trails from the wing tips - wow, wow!!! The best yet?
Respect
I love seeing the Chinooks come through...they absolutely steal the show! Those F-35's look so cool when they go on a knife edge turn. The silhouette of the airframe is gorgeous.
Thanks for the videos! Could you include your lens and settings for each photograph in the corner please 🙏🏻
Many thanks for watching. I occasionally put the setting in the corner of the pics. Will do on the next one!
Appreciate the feedback 🎓👍
Great footage! Love the props!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Thanks!
Your welcome
Only can a beautiful woman can create this much wood!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice selection of aircraft 👍 F-15 through Cad 👌
Many thanks elwyn. Looking forward to next week 🇨🇭✈️👍
There truly is no better airforce than that of the USAF! Wow!!
THANKS
You're welcome!
Saw a couple of these flying over Tregaron earlier this afternoon, unfortunately my camera with 150-600mm was not at hand, great to see, just gutted not to have had camera at hand.
I believe a couple dropped into
Low level just south of Tregaron and headed north into the loop
Today. It’s a wide valley up to bont so not sure where would be good to look down at them in that area.
Just found your site. Unbelievable. The photography, the order of attack jets followed by guad engine turbo prop larger aircraft followed by large support/rescue helicopter is so explanatory is awesome. Thank you! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Many thanks Stephen. Happy you enjoy my channel 👍
Mackloopchinook 😳 🚀
Great !!!
Thank you.
Am I the only one that thinks it would be super cool if a Harrier or a F.35-VTOL would hover for a photo shoot? :D
Only in an airshow I’m guessing

Was that Chinook filmed around Wednesday? We were in Shrewsbury mid week and one flew overhead in the direction of Snowdonia. PS. Are most of your shots in this video from Cad West?
This was Tuesday. There where chinooks about all week. Only the first clips where from west.
@@DafyddPhillips I guess it could have been Tuesday that I saw it going in that direction but I thought it was the Wednesday. I only saw that single Chinook flying over all week, and its an aircraft that you know exactly what it is before you see it. Could be different routes I guess.
Can’t wait for our F-35s in the RCAF. Hopefully it’s going to still have a false canopy. So glad we aren’t getting that boring Saab.
my dream is to come into mach loop
Fun fact: that big ass double bladed helicopter (Chinook) is the fastest US military helicopter. Even faster than the Apache 😅
I like science fiction. I like video games too. And I'm a software developer. For some time I've been thinking about making a science fiction historical game which in it players can teleport very advanced equipment to distant past! For example, imagine if you would teleport a F-15 to middle ages how it could affect the affairs back then!
.......this has been a thought of mine .....................and what would the people make of modern Tech ??
That would be cool!,, keep me posted on any developments. I’d love to see it!! 🎓👍
@@DafyddPhillips Thank you brother. Your enthusiasm and other brothers support and energy is the reason for earth to rotate around sun!
I used to live in Norfolk, England, back in early 90s and the planes from Lakenheath and Mildenhall were so low you could see the pilots face and scared the crap out of me as a kid I got used to it as I got older,I know the pilots got alot of telling offs so they cut flight paths and low level fly bys
Must of been great times Andy, thanks for watching
How do you find out when the flying times and dates are?
Me gustaria ver a un F 14 TOMCAT con las alas en flecha 😊
Yes please 👌
Top video again👍👍Dafydd
Thanks John.
What are you at for shutter speed on those stills, about 1/1000?
1/800 here. Sometimes down to 1/250 but rarely above 1/1000. The prop planes will be 1/80 or 1/100
Is that a f-35 lighting 2? It's very pretty.
Yes
Do they have to turn at this point or they do it because of the photos to get better angle of the jet.
The pilots do they’re turns where they have to. We go to those locations according to light etc.
@@DafyddPhillips thanks
Pilots enjoying 30 percent and other 70 percent steeped in responsibility
What’s better axalp or the Mach loop? Take in consideration cost, location and accessibility.
Mach loop is on my doorstep so very easy. Axalp has its logistical hurdles but we’ll worth a few days of the year ti see the dynamic flying in the alps
What months are the most active?
Just like Beggar's Canyon back home.
I’ve heard so many comments of beggars canyon. Would love to try it out ✈️✈️👍
Hello from Ukraine
As always Brize putting the “Low” in low level.
Reminder that the F-15 was first flown in ‘72
And still looks great today ! 👍
Hi Dafyd what location did you take these from please? I’m an ex uk pilot and would like to see this for myself.😂
Mach loop.
Imagine the letdown stepping back into your car or truck after going 500 plus mph! Bummer!
So is this just showing off or is there an actual purpose to these airplanes zooming through the Mach Loop?
Thais is low level military training.
