  • So I saw this really cool idea to make a DIY Super Clutch on a Guys Channel other day! Link below! Really neat idea but had some flaws! So I broke out the few brain cells left up there in the noggin and went to work making the idea function like the bought ones you see! Anyhow this will be an ongoing test subject on a Minarelli build. If you have any questions feel free to ask leave them in comment section! It's a Fun project for people with Mid Range skill levels in this sort of thing! I tried to keep it simple and used as much as I could for parts we already have sitting in front of yeah to start! DIY Tinkering is fun as all hell! Hope a few have a blast trying out stuff like this and let me know what ya come up with if you try and if you found any improvements to the design!

    What if i use aluminum plate instead of hot rolled steel??

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes! Aluminum works fine. You need about 1/4 or 7mm thick aluminum plate so center bolt has enough thread area to hold !

    Do you think one could use a grinding wheel as a pressure plate?

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  Před rokem +4

      Probably not. Would fracture over time. But go on ebay! Buy a 3 inch 1/4 aluminum disc! Pre cut and easy to drill and tap. Like 5$

    On the clutch hub bolts you used 7 x 45 mm and grinded the heads down. So that would make the total length 50 mm or really close right? So i bought 7 x 50 mm if i cut the heads off i should have a 50 mm bolt length, the head is 5 mm. It measures 50 mm from the threads to just under the head. Is this the length i want? Total length of bolt you made is 50 mm correct?
    Great videos, i just watched your 2 hour bible video. Awesome job.

      Pretty much yes. Just few mm sticking out. Not critical.

    Hi. Is the pressure plate needed? Could i do the same job without cutting a steel circle?

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Buy an aluminum one pre cut! Has to be between sizes of 2.5 to 3". The larger the disc the more surface area for heat to dissipate away from the clutch plate itself. They are sold all over Amazon and eBay. 3/16 thick is the goal thickness

    what size do you tap spring bolts

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  Před rokem

      7mm for those springs. Newer ones I have been using 8mm springs but you need to drill the clutch plate with the correct size bit and be dead on center or kill the plate

    Can you please send me a link to buy the springs. I have tried to buy them and no luck. The ones I keep getting are way to small. Thanks in advance

      The ones that pop up are blue. Are those the right ones? Or is this the link to the right ones? MroMax 3D Printer Die Spring 14mm OD 20mm Long Medium Load Compression Mould Die Spring for 3D Printer Ender Electric Part Red 10PCS

      @@jasonmonks3883 yes they will work. Started using those while back. They hold better. You can use 8mm or 5/16 bolts also. Bit eiser to find. Still works fine with 7mm bolts without issues. Only tab longer. Red 7mm springs have been out of stock now for long time. Covid shipping stuff. They always send some oddly sized super small spring in its place. Blue springs are on my saw builds if you wanted to see them in use. Working great though!

    Hey man this video is really good my only question is so when making that circle plate you don’t have to have a dent in it like yours to work ? Would u be willing to make me one like yours if I throw you some money ??

    Hey I was wondering if I could just use the back part of the clutch basket from another clutch as the flywheel instead of cutting up a piece of metal and trying to make it perfectly circular? (I don't have a lathe ATM lol).
