  • Finally a video to show how to change the Echo 225 stock 2 line trimmer head to a rotatory head that will last 15 times loner before blade changes. In this video I show how to remove the "old" head and install the new one. I also review it. Is it worth the change? Replace with the echo head with a universal head by Rino-Tuff sold at Home Depot.
The script: Echo Line Trimmer head change.
Installation and review of this universal edge trimmer by Rino-Tuff for my Echo 225
In one of my earlier 1 minute, CZcams videos I demonstrated how to insert and remove the precut trimmer lines. The problem with this procedure for line insertion is that you literally have to insert a new line after every 3-4 minutes of usage. It wears away so quickly.
But In this video, I’m going to show you how to remove this factory default head off the Echo 225 and install this universal head replacement which will allow you to cut with 3 plastic blades, these blades will probably last 15 times longer than the conventional sting insets, before you replace them. So here’s the package. And after opening it up and dumping out its contents, I realized that I don’t need all the parts that are inside this package.
The instructions were kind of vague and that’s the reason why I made this video.
I searched online to see if I could find a video on how to do the transfer for this particular model and was unsuccessful. So here goes…I figured out, the first thing you have to do is to take off the nut inside this chamber . You’ll need a 9/16” socket wrench. Some videos demonstrate that you have to undo it clockwise. But with this particular model, I actually had to unscrew it counterclockwise. Grasp this part of the device with a large wrench or insert a thin screwdriver into the shaft slot to keep it locked in place while you unbolt it. I successfully dropped the nut inside the new part shaft. Once you install the new part, keep the original nylon nut and attach it to the bolt threads. you will tighten it clockwise. Using the large pliers to hold the shaft, tighten the new part to the right. If you can’t get a tight enough grip on the part with the pliers, insert a thin screwdriver, or an Allen wrench into this hole to lock the head in place while you’re turning it tight, to the right.I wouldn’t recommend using any of the nuts that they included in the kit because they don’t have a nylon washer insert. Vibration could cause the nut to loosen after running it for a while. Now that’s it is snugged tight, let’s test the new cutting blades out and see how well it works. Is it better, worse or the same as the string line adapter. A nylon insert lock nut is hex-shaped, internally threaded with a nylon insert or collar. The nylon material prevents loosening from vibration by increasing friction between the nylon and the screw thread.
Thank you for watching. Please leave comments.

Good video and well explained. The bump feed are much better still. Just took this one off and bought a bump feed thats been used for decades. Those single string are worse though.

Great Review. Thank You! I was looking at this change yesterday. I have the GT-255 and I am tired of constantly changing the string. I actually cut the strips extra long so that it acts as 4 trimmer lines, but still break too often. On the way out of the store, a man in the parking lot said you are going to like changing the string on that weed eater. I thought he was saying it was a good thing. Now I see he was being sarcastic.
