- I've used the blade attachment for the Echo SRM 225 many times over the past couple of years and thought I'd share with you the step-by-step instructions to remove the string trimmer head and install the blade attachment!
If you have questions throw them in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them!
Man I don’t ever leave comments on CZcams but this was great!!! Echo has no idea what they are doing when it comes to writing instructions. Nice job, simple, well explained, got it done in 5 minutes thanks again!
Low-Key: Please contact Echo and re-write their conversion instructions. They are awful. CZcams to the rescue.
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot my account password. I love any help you can offer me.
@Nikolai Coen instablaster ;)
@Damian Johnny I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Damian Johnny it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much, you really help me out :D
@Nikolai Coen no problem :)
Literally working at home depot right now and used your video to help a customer( 80+) put his together. Grate video very informative and you SHOWED where you put the tools thank you man saved me an hour
That’s awesome, thanks!
@@LowkeyLawnCare het buddy, I just put mine on, I put the pin in as well. Should I worry about it flying off at all? I've got a echo 225 as well
Thank you! Your's is the fifth video I've clicked on and the first to definitively say which way to say which direction to turn the head to take it off!
This was super helpful. Way better than reading the instructions!
After reading the instruction manual i was SO confused. Yours was the first video i watched and it will be the ONLY video i watch. I went from probbably not even using the blade and just retuning it to totally nailing it because of you. Thanks a ton!
Split the cotter pin AFTER you push it through the hole, then push the two pin legs apart and curl them in opposing directions around the shaft end.
That is correct.
You're correct...I just re-watched and realized I did that part wrong!
@@LowkeyLawnCare I thought maybe it was too big to go through the hole so you just used one side.
Instructions in the book very unclear and this made it very clear. Great video
This video was absolutely amazing, you can tell he actually cares and speaks well and gives really good instruction. Thankyou man
Dude, you saved my ass hours of time and about a thousand curse words. Thanks a million!
Haha thanks! Glad to help!
Nice video bro, thanks, took the whole spinning/ guard assembley off at first like an idiot
You don't need the guard.
After years of not using my blade and I had forgotten a few things about the assembly this was great. Thanks
Your video helps make sense of the printed instruction manual! Thanks.
Thank you thank you thank you, im not so savy when it comes to these things, your video demonstration was EXCELLENT
Thanks! I'm glad it helped!
Thanks. Way better then the paper instructions!!
Thanks, glad it was helpful!
Not all heroes wear capes! Thanks for the instructional video!
Thank you. The kit I bought included 3 different bottom plates and was not clear at all which model echo trimmer uses which plate! They expect you to measure the length of the shaft yet it’s buried somewhat. Best I could tell my SRM225 I bought earlier this year has a 42mm shaft. Definitely not longer and not much shorter. So I ended up using the shorter collared plate AND the small collar ring. Seems to fit well. I wish I’d watched your video before I took the string head off. I ended up disassembling mine way more than I needed to!
Newby blade user here with my Echo 225. Great instructions! Thank you!
How did it work with your 225?
Haven't used it yet, was making sure I could at least figure out how to put the blade on the 225 before I bought the kit. I'll let you know. Thanks! Just commenting because he really did have good clear instructions on how to swap it out.
Just pulled my blade kit out of a cabinet, haven't used it in years. This was great for helping get it reinstalled since I lost my original instructions. Great video at perfect pace.
This was a great tutorial brother. We didn't put the cotter pin in (we had rain rolling in and started to rush). And we noticed our ECHO GX 225 was vibrating violently. I'll hook it up tomorrow exactly the way you showed us. Hoping that will do the trick. Thanks again!
Awesome ! I have a big unkempt yard and have been looking at blade attachments- this is exactly what I wanted to know- thank you.
By the way, the shaft with the lines milled in- that is called a SPLINE. Yep, that is a cotter pin.
well done
Put one of these kits on my SRM 225 this afternoon. It was around $50 at Home Depot. Appreciate your excellent tutorial vid that I viewed before doing the attachment. The instructions included options for various other brands so was more complex than how you laid things out. Adds a bit more weight down at the end there! I plan on using it this week at one of my accounts. Will report back with analysis...lol. Cheers!
Yes!! Thanks!!! I do my own yard work alone.im 70 divorced 5 grown kids.one will help if needed.my boys know carpentry.plumbing etc.
Thanks for the super helpful video! Changed the trimmer head to the blade head in no time!
Wow! Simpler than I thought. TY for doing this.
Killer video exactly what I needed and got it done no problem following along. Great job and super happy I found this video made my life easy! Thanks a ton man
Great video. Direct and to the point . Not alot of wasted words and actions. I appreciate you
That was awesome. Great explanation! Better then any Chinese translated manual. I am totally ready to do it!! Thanks for your time.
Thanks John!
Thanks for the heads up first time home owner and first time owning yard tools very helpful keep it going thanks man
Thanks!
4 months I've been trying to figure this out. Ty🎉
Thank you for this video I found it very helpful because I bought a new trimmer and blade kit and was feeling a bit overwhelmed 😊
Thanks! For all of the other old ladies who use these instructions, I put the weed eater in a vise and used a large vintage C clamp to get a grip in order to unscrew the string holder. His instructions are excellent. I paused the video often.
You are absolutely wonderful installation couldn’t have been better.. I don’t care for the string for cutting weeds. can I buy steel cutting blades for grass for the echo? Thank you for your video
Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this video. It was very helpful !
You have no idea how good it felt when I saw you have the exact weed eater I have. Thank you so much man this video really helps 🤝
Just like every other comment, thank you! Echo should send you a check! Could not have figured it out without you!!!
Best instructional video I have used. Thanks for doing it!
Thanks, my pleasure!
Thank you. Got the manual, but you make it so much clearer!
Very helpful video. I couldn’t figure out why the Allen wrench wouldn’t help lock the head when I was trying to loosen it, and realized after I got it off that it was because it was full of grass. Never knew how dirty it was. Thanks for the tips!
Hi from California! I followed your tutorial step by step and it worked like a charm! Thanks for sharing 🙂
This was exactly what I was looking for!! Thanks!!
SOOO much more helpful than the Echo instructions. Thank you!
This is the video I cam to youtube to see!...only help you need is to know that the grooves are called splines..will make you sound even more like the yard pro than you are..
Finally!!! A helpful video - Thank you! Also, the head's up to use glove was a real nice piece of advice - You're awesome!
Thanks!
Changing the echo attachments on the echo reader
Great job you are a real time saver with a great expanation. Thanks
Great vid. No Fluff just straight to the subject.
I normally wouldn't comment, but for safety reasons I will. I believe you want to spread the cotter pin only after its been inserted through the hole. In other words, put both legs through the hole, and then bend and spread them back.
Thanks for the vid brother, I was stumped without your guidance 👍
THANKS FOR THE HELP! I had no clue how to change and you made it easy!
Followed right along out in the shed, thanks for the great video!
Thanks and very good my friend. I wish every instructional video was done this well. All the required information without a stupid amount of unnecessary detail.
EXCELLENT easy instructional video! Thanks! I'm going to save this video as a reference for when I need it for the brushcutter. ☺
Update: got this blade yesterday, I installed it by watching your video but I don't see the "hole" for the cotter pin though
Thanks my friend ! your vid helped 100%.....it was not a perfect explanation that came with the machine and your video helped me finish the set up....much appreciated !! all the best !
This video has saved us once again!!!
Very helpful video, I'm like all the rest hate changing the line to trim..The bump & feed spool works when it wants to, however time is money don't need to be fussing with the string.
Excellent instruction manual!
Wow! Great explanation video. Very good teacher.
Excellent video! You're very through and clear. THANK YOU.
I agree with the other commenters: much better than Echo's printed instructions (awful! And hard to find online). I 'saved' this for future use.
One point of order tho': I have Echo's 210 and 225 line trimmers. For some reason I also ended up with two blade kits. Both require that I install the cylindrical washer (comes with the kit) below the bottom flange. When I mistakenly installed the blade without this washer the other day, the blade would not spin.
Thanks for posting this! I had the exact same thing happen and was really frustrated.
Really helpful man thanks a lot
Excellent Tutorial! Thanks.
Excellent instructions man, very well done and much appreciated.
Great video that clearly explained the process
lol, I called a nut a bolt many times, great video bro.
Superb illustration.
Thank you, you were very detailed with your instructions....
Excellent video. I just bought a SRM225. I want to convert to a blade for now. You don't mention using the green washer in the kit. Another video recommends it, and claims the washer is needed. The shaft of my trimmer head isn't long enough to accommodate the nut and then allow the cotter pin space to find purchase in the hole. How necessary is the green washer?
very good best 5 minutes of the day
Where can I order the kit with the upper/lower flange, nut and pin? Great video
Yes WAY helpful. Clear and simple for trimmer dummies like me.
Well done. Watched twice. Now go do it
In the kit I got you had a short neck and long neck part the went on first. The shaft on mine measures 42mm and used the short neck. If you ever redo this video you might go over this setp to see if you use the short or long neck adapter.
Super helpful! Thanks brother!
Excellent instruction.
Thank you for sharing this information
Igor to the point in a clear and concise way! 👍Looking forward to more content.
Thanks brother awesome instructions about to install my new blade kit! 👍
Common sense for the common man is not dead. 😊
Helped me out too.
Unit cranked right up but had an odd rattle in the shaft. By the 2nd tank of gas, the rattle was much worse and blade would no longer turn. Returning....
Excellent thank you! Exactly the video I was looking for.
You saved me from throwing the trimmer across the garage
awesome tutorial! thank you!
Great job keep it simple and clean. Thank you
The instruction book is too confusing.
This was awesome 👍
Mahalo for the experience.
Thanks!
Thanks you answered lots my questions.
this worked great with the saw blade, but as a weedeater,, it belongs in the landfill, mainly its the very complicated , almost impossible line feed,, and if you pop the cap off , throw the weedeater part in the garbage where it belongs, put the saw blade on it and it makes a very awesome reliable , easy to start machines!
Buen trabajo amigo muy bien explicado felicidades
Very helpful video! I did it myself!
Excellent, without your video I wouldn't have been able to do it... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! The Echo instructions are. beyond horrible.
AWESOME VIDEO
Thank you!
Clear and concise. Thanks 🏹
Me encanta como explicas pues muestra todo muy bien, solo que le agradecería si pone subtitulos para poder entender a un 100% ..muchas gracias
