Not many 2strokes ever finished the Dakar rally. I love 2 strokes but they have there limitations.

There isnt a bike out there that shouldnt be reassembled with blue loctight. If your not using you should. Hey check your headset bearings. Bet theres no grease in there.
Been riding Cr250’s and 500’s for decades, never had anything come loose.
I have to go through my rm250 once a week and tighten the reed cage bolts, right case cover bolts and plastics bolts. The Kickstarter bolt comes out every time I start it. Maybe I should invest in loctite
Gun Chowder ive been on 2 strokes since 1980. Blue loctight 1 drop will totally help your issues with loose bolts. Tear it down and clean and regrease all pivots and shock ends then reassemble using the loctight on every nut n bolt. Youll be happy with the results.

That’s a sweet track. I ride my old Lt250r quadracer in my thin 1 quad only trails and it’s scary fun. The bike sounds good.
I still have my old girl CR-500. It’s in mint condition and I keep her in the living room.

I had two CR500’s in my time. Used only as trail bikes. Fantastic in Mexico. Tons of low end. Never had to wind them up. I had an 87 and a 93. I had a kickstand on both. They were both dead reliable. But, I loved my CRF450’s too. I’d ride with large groups in Mexico and everyone thought I was crazy riding a 500. No way. They are so easy to ride. When cold, rock them in first a few times to prime them and they start on the first kick. Great bikes.

I used to do a lot of motocross racing in the 80s and I'm glad that it was back then we had 2 stroke motocross bikes and it was great and much better than the 4 stroke bikes of today, plus we were as quick as the bikes of today, more skilled and bigger balls

Sweet and clean Bike. But if the duallys don't improve performance than what use do they have? Just wondering about having to buy two exhaust when I wipeout. Still cool and sounded a little grounded.
Can't wait for Ransoms kx500 to be featured on here. Love big bore 2 strokes. They're the legendary Pokemon of the dirtbike world.

gasgas uses a steel chromoly frame not aluminum, but it is a perimeter frame, so they're similar in looks. Id say this is more like a red TM

Rode CR500’s through the 80’s &90’s. Great bikes, I never had any problems with them. Regular maintenance helps what ever you ride. Looks like Hungry Valley where they filmed this. As others mentioned why dual exhaust? My last 500 was a Pro Circuit bike. You only use 2nd & 3rd gear mostly. Extremely Fast!
Got a 91 500 motor in a 06 crf450x frame in sumo trim street titled. Talk about a street killer, hard to stay out of trouble
Cool video, but sounds nearly identical to a single silencer because all the sound is going through the exact same pipe before hitting the shorter silencers.

Not sure why you'd want a dual silencer CR500 other than to keep the decibels down and add more weight..Still a sweetbike!!! Thanks for the Raw DBM

To try to get more power out if a bike, port the intake port of the head to allow more free breathing during high speeds.
All i would do is hit the biggest jumps i could find.The best 500 i have seen in a long time.
most works cr500-s went to the crusher. company policy. a few survived. i heard tell they were about 90 hp. i had a stock 89. great for the single track trails in eastern wa.- just a twist of the wrist-- on an off day however, you could feel it at work monday morning-- lol.

Only have two problems with the CR500 one I don't have one, two why is it aluminum frame when steel is better aluminum frames are a lot more stiffer than steel and send more vibration to the rider
I mis my KX500. I wish they would bring them back. I thought about buying a 450 4 stroke donor bike and getting a 500 2 stroke engine and doing my own conversion. But I’d rather just buy one already done.

They don’t need high rpms to get power and aren’t meant to wrap up like a 250 or 125 and if they could rev up like a 250 no one would do it

I'm a long time big bore rider, B grade MX'er, from CZ 400, Husky 390 through to KTM 500 Euros, and the known Japanese usuals inbetween, except for a CR500 ironically.
I don't understand why you run so much steepness on the head rake when you have so much instant power on tap to rotate the bike. I think this is a common mistake with big bores that gives you no advantage, but loses in some fast open stuff and braking in rough where I can see you lifting as the bike gets loose.

i've had 2 inner tube failures (burst) failures without punctures. 1 time it let go mid race another it let go whilst checking the pressure (i use a shock pump).
When you get a puncture mid race its not obvious you have a puncture and the huge metal tyre-lock slices through your tyre at some point, rendering it useless with tubliss.
I reckon tubliss is fine if you aren't racing and they are great for slow slippery stuff. I've been racing on them for 2 years on enduro. Going to mousses next year.

Matt Benson The CR250s were good bikes. Cr500 obviously badass. They dont make 2 strokes anymore, so they are fuxking gay. Same for kawasaki. They dont make 2 strokes anymore, so they are gay.
