A 2006 aluminum framed Honda CR500 two-stroke would have been a very popular conversation piece at Honda dealerships all around the world the mid 2000. Unfortunately Honda never mass produced this unit and there are only a handful of them around today. The one we are looking at today was originally built by Pro Circuit and just might be the only one of its kind. Pro Circuit originally built this machine back in late 2005 or early 2006 to be raced at the famed Mammoth Mountain Motocross event. The chassis is a 2006 Honda CR250 and the engine was built using parts available at the time through Honda.Unlike today, the entire engine could be produced through Honda directly. Unfortunately they didn’t have a part number for a complete engine but every part was available individually.Trying to find one of these Pro Circuit clutch covers today is definite tough and the price if one is actually found will be a shock to your wallet for sure. This bike is now owned by Chris Hymas, yes that is Honda amateur rider Chance Hymas dad.

BBA loves this! Thanks for sharing! The story of the bikes is always awesome and sometimes the best part!
Its not a "Factory Honda" engine. The cases from Honda parts (That Service Honda used to build the motors) came without engine numbers for a period of time, just before the left cases were discontinued. Some of the Service Honda bikes even came with engraved engine numbers. The Service Honda engines where made from all the left over parts in Honda's parts network. It looks like it has some cool Pro Circuit parts and maybe PC ported it. Its a beautiful bike, none the less. Looking forward to more video's on it!
i have 1 of the sleeper Factory 1994 KX250's that were allotted to team G 1994. (Im the original owner) , We actually picked mine up at Ohare airport, sent direct from KHI for 94 season. The suspension internals are different, all the engine bearings were a higher grade, and many of the parts look outwardly stock(cylinder head) , but internally when compared to stock parts were noticeably different. piston, rod, crank, Trans components, all different. Deburred, balanced, smooth, perfect....Unicorn KX sits in my garage right now, runnable but unridden for 20 years ....tears. Right next to his Bro H2 750. one day they shall re arise.
Wow what a machine 😱👍
SO AWESOME!!!
I’ve got a 2022 works edition cr500r I’m finishing up now, would love to have an article or video done on it! Billet cases, built to the max
Oh man sick I remember when I must have been younger a 1994 cr500cc Honda in Canada 🇨🇦 the ticket price was 3200$ dollars so even with the rest out the door close to 3790$ stock but power band will shock you I bought a 2001 cr500cc Honda had the inverted suspension I did showa forks put a fmf pipe and fmf shorty exhaust on it some nice protapers barrs and some v force reeds airfilter was aftermarket bamm a machine off dreams
Aj Waggoner is the cr500 king..that man builds the most beautiful cr500,s I've ever seen..he has built 2 that are 100% street legal..😮
Seem like it runs good especially on top. Little more over rev then other cr500s
I understand why peeps do custom builds, especially if it is an entertainment magazine or website looking for views. Although everyone in the industry knows that the last generation of steel frames from Honda are still better than any current perimeter aluminum frame. The marketing guy’s and bean counters were the driving Force behind the aluminum frame and nothing that Honda has ever done drove more people away Red than it did. Although once the extreme lower cost of build was out of the bag there was no going back.
Steel framed bikes are much better than Aluminum. 30% flex for steel and 11% for aluminum.
❤
There is nothing like a big bore 2 stroke.
Just about everything is available by some means.
Honda needs to build new 500cc 2 Stroke bikes!!!!!! 2023😍
I have a modification to make CR500's super smooth, no ba tingle or fender flap...
Wawwwwww
If you Love them so much. Why won't you ever compare them to the new 450 4pukes??? Do a shoot-out....
500cc 2Stroke will destroy 450cc 4 strokers
@@100pyatt um I know that...
Good morning.. if someone wants to have the same machine built for them like this one here.. how much will it cost? about?
I met someone with an af 500 that he bought from someone who had payed honda to build it for him
Some of these people don't just build them for just show a lot of them are being used to race on the track
If that's the goal than a Service Honda is what you want not a home conversion
How much does this cost & how to order?
Service Honda is like $30k for this novelty dirtbike. Wish Honda would just start making them, there's clearly a sizeable market
First of all your Magazine needs to to learn the facts and Yrue History of a CR500af.. Hint Service Honda CR500AF a.k.a now Built500.. Owner and Original God Father of the 500cc two stroke AF.. Aj Waggoner..
I'm not really a Honda guy I'm only a ktm guy because ktms are seriously amazing bikes
