In the 1992 movie "Wayne's World," the 1976 AMC Pacer, affectionately known as the "Mirthmobile," is a character in its own right. Its unconventional design, with a rounded, wide-bodied exterior painted in eye-catching baby blue, mirrors the offbeat personalities of its owners, Wayne and Garth. Inside, the Mirthmobile is a treasure trove of quirky accessories, including a licorice dispenser and plastic cup dispenser for partying it up, perfectly capturing the irreverent spirit of the film. This iconic car, with its absurd charm and humorous escapades, became a cultural symbol of the "Wayne's World" franchise and remains a beloved element of cinematic history.

I was kinda hoping there would have been a mention of the stretched limousine version from the second movie.
This one was all about the first movie's Pacer only, but may get to that wild Limo at some point too, if I'm able to find anything on it that is 😉
@CarStarz42 I know the Limo was at Kings Dominion theme park Wayne's World section in the mid 90's
@@darylarmentrout252omg I remember that!!
@@darylarmentrout252 Cool👍
I'm glad Rick bought it and restored it. To hear about these icons just rotting away is heartbreaking. The people that take on the job of restoring, preserving, care taking of these timeless treasures are heros. There's no doubt about it. Because anyone that has grown up with these movie stars will always have nostalgia about them. They feel like a friend you have seen or heard from in a long time. To know they've been saved & taken care of brings a sense of happiness to us all.
Indeed 😉👍
I remembered seeing the episode of Pawn Stars
Awesome video, my friend! We will never have great movies like this again. There was something special about the 90s comedies. Maybe movies didn't take themselves so serious back then and felt more genuine and less forced. Thanks for the great content!
Thanks and I certainly know what you mean😉
Yay !! Another video. Man I love your channel, it’s so fascinating and informative. Thank you for sharing these videos 🥰😁😍
You're very welcome and glad you are enjoying the channel 😉👍
I've heard that one of the Mirthmobiles used in Wayne's World 2 was repurposed as the Burger Mobile in the 1997 Nickelodeon film, Good Burger.
After filming was complete on Good Burger, the car was sold to a private owner in Florida, who left the car outside exposed to the elements for over 20 years. Until 2021 when it was bought by a dedicated fan from St.Louis, who restored it back to it's Burger glory. It's now on display at the Hi-Pointe Drive-In.
Wow, cool 😉👍
Great video! We love getting to be the ones taking care of the screen used Mirthmobile!
We actually built our own replica before owning the screen used Mirthmobile, so we own 2 Pacers!
Very glad it's in good hands! Yeah, I saw your videos on the replica that you drive around too, awesome stuff Brandon! 👍
The mag wheels on the back and stock rims/wheel covers on the front reminded me of the very real trend amongst high school car owners on the late 70s-early 80s. Want mags but have to work for them? Buy two for the rear when you can afford them, then continue tomp work, save, until you can afford them for the front. Saw a lot of cars rolling around that never quite got new aftermarket wheels installed on the front. Instead, air shocks were usually a required purchase due to the new wheel/tire combo being a lot wider than stock.
Indeed, I too think that was idea they were trying to instill with that setup😁👍
I would love to see you do the main vehicles from the show " Chips " .
I do indeed have them on my long list already, thanks 😉👍
Beautiful job!! Got some ideas for the future, I'm curious to know, Ace Ventura's Monte Carlo, and Cannonball Run ambulance 😎😎
Thanks much, yep; those are already on my very long list to look into as well. Thanks😉👍
I owned a '77 Pacer and drove it to the theater to see the Wayne's World movie.
thanks for bringing back the memories.😊
Cool, and you're very welcome; glad you enjoyed it👍
Party on Wayne!
Party on Garth!
😁👍
I had a turquoise 76 Pacer DL. I loved it, but it had it's issues. A lot of interior bits just fell off. It did have a 3spd manual with a floor shifter though, and I've never seen another manual Pacer since.
Two things. I recall the filming of certain scenes, near where I worked. Obviously it was a movie car with the camera trucks. And in high school, during summer football, a teammate had one, leaked oils, but the a/c kicked ass
Cool 😉👍
Cool to know it's up here in British Columbia Canada
Mike Myers is from 🇨🇦 too. From what I recall, they wanted a funny Tim Hortons 🏒 tie in for the donut shop place but the execs/VPs at the chain didn't want to work on the film.
😉👍
Cool. I loved the Pacer when it came out but the quality control for the interior was horrible. The dashboard and glove box parts don't line up at all.
Indeed, had the company been in a better financial spot at the time, it would have been a better car for sure that they could have spent more time on it.
Party on Car Starz! Great video but I believe you are mistaken about AMC going under in 1979. They soldered on until being bought out by Chrysler in 1988.
Thanks, yeah; I meant as an all original company directly producing the cars they designed and built directly, which ended with the pacer in late '79 😉
Nice video, great to hear it’s still around, really appreciate the research you do, Excellent work 🤩
Thanks much and glad you enjoyed it 👍
🍀Awesome 😎✌️
Glad you enjoyed it👍
AMC Pacer also has a passenger door that is 4 inches longer than the driver's door. To allow rear passengers easier entry. I heard Mike Myers wanted a car a teen in the early 90's would drive.
Indeed, among other oddities, lol.
Love the movie, great vid!!!!!!!! 👍🤘🤜🤛
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.😉👍
@@CarStarz42 👍👍
This was an excellent and appropriate prop for Wayne and Garth!! I love that it’s still around too!! Thank you for the info!! Keep up the great work!!
P.S. have you got the motorbike Streethawk on your list? And the Square body truck from the 1986 film The Gladiator, there’s lots of cool modifications on it 😊
Thanks much. I only do 4-wheel vehicles as that's where my passion lies, but I do indeed have that square body on my list. Thanks👍
Say what you want but those Pacers were tough! I can remember when they were common enough on the road to see every day. How many other movies have you heard of that had ONE single hero car? That's the same 258 six cylinder that was in Jeeps right up into the 2000s, not a powerhouse but tough as nails and reliable. Oh yeah and that's not mismatched aftermarket chrome wheels, those are the stock hubcaps on the front.
Lol, true enough. I know, rear wheels are aftermarket though and they don't match the front wheels of course, which is all I meant there 😉
Very cool thanks 👍👍👍👍👍😊
Glad you enjoyed it 😉👍
As always great vids, incredible knowledge! Could you possibly tell us either about the Cannonball movie Red Firebird or Navin’s Firebird from the movie The Jerk?
Thanks, yeah those are already on my list to try to look into. Thanks👍
Wow you did your research, I really enjoy the video, keep up the great work.
Glad you enjoyed it and will do 😉👍
We're not worthy! We're not worthy! Of such great content 😊
Lol, glad you are enjoying it 😁👍
@@CarStarz42 I just watched a movie I haven't seen in years but it has what is probably thee best known movie car you don't even have to see the whole car just the racing stripe is enough to identify #53 herbie . Would love to see a video on anyone of the herbie movies.
Chrysler bought AMC in 1987. AMC still sold Jeeps, AMC Eagles, and Renaults in the 1980’s.
Well, yeah; but the original self producing AMC company itself went out in '79, which is what I was talking about of course 😉
@@CarStarz42 The 4x4 AMC Eagle, which was an original AMC self produced product based on the AMC Concord, was produced by AMC well into the late 1980’s. Just trying to share knowledge. Nice video though.
Be neat to know about Mr. Rouke's red customized wagon from Fantasy Island: Volare or Aspen? Also, I believe the last vehicle that AMC produced was the XJ Jeep Cherokee platform that sadly (for AMC) went on to make Chrysler billions.
I'll add it to the list, yeah I got some bad info on the AMC company deal, sorry about that.
These videos need to be about 10 minutes longer 😏 I really do like them 🧐👍🏻
Glad you are enjoying the channel. Yeah, there's only so much info you can dig up on old movies 😉
Oh yes we have reached our paradise and it's a music store my brothers so let's rock 😂😂 incredible work there carstarz on this 76 pacer video to know that 'Mirthmoblie' is safe and secure hands so that garth can get it back to rocking with wayne in the future 😂😂😂 anyway thank you my friend so see you later bye now.
Indeed, certainly a movie all about the music and comedy, not so much the car itself, lol.
@CarStarz42 Well, that's how good a comedy is my friend having a laugh and good time with friends 😄 so see you later bye now.
2:35 the last AMC ever produce was actually the 1988 eagle wagon
Yes, we have been discussing that in the comments already. I got some bad info in a Pacer article I was reading and didn't know any better since I'm not an AMC guy. My bad on that one.
My daily driver is a '76 Mirthmobile. :)
😉👍
Schwing!!! 😁
😁👍
I had a AMC gremlin with a 258 it was pretty quick I smoked a 305 Camaro and a 71+ mustang fastback I put a few modes on it
Interesting 👍
Well you can’t help but laugh when you see it.
Definitely invokes grins at a glace for sure 😉👍
Great series and awesome episode. Maybe a CHIPS motorcycle episode? Too off-brand? Thx!
Thanks, I do have some of the main cars from CHIPS on my large to do list, but I'm not a motorcycle guy though, sorry about that.
Great video, How about the cars from the movie Cannonball with David Carradine from 1976 😊 keep up the great work.
Glad you enjoyed it; yep, I do have some Dave Carradine movies on my long list including Cannonball. Thanks 😉👍
@@CarStarz42 your very welcome, I'm building a model of thetrans am from cannonball and the duel truck 🚚 are almost done.
@@jamesharrington4923 Nice 👍
I"m not sure where you got the information that AMC shut down in 1979. Before being purchased by Chrysler, largely for their Jeep subsidiary, AMC continued making cars until 1988, before being renamed Jeep/Eagle following the purchase by Chrysler. Renault was a part-owner through the early to mid 1980s, but they definitely still existed, producing mostly Hornet and Gremlin-derived models such as the Concord, the Eagle, and the Spirit.
Yeah, I got some bad info on that and we've already discussed it on here at one point, sorry about that.
Do a video on the gto from my science project!!!
Yep, that one is already on my list to look into. Thanks👍
Thank you!!! One of the coolest movie cars ever !! Id love to know about it and if it still exists!! Possibly purchase it ! Thanks for doing great videos!!!
The rusty movie car is not a replica, it's one of actual cars from Wayne's world 2, I use to own it!
If so, whoever repainted it didn't do the flames right as they don't match the second's movies design correctly at all.
Who told you that AMC folded in 1979? The last AMC cars rolled off the assembly line in 1988 after Chrysler bought AMC in order to get jeep. Also the pacer wasn’t the last car they made that would be the AMC eagle. There were other cars sold right up until the end but they were just re badged Renaults.
Yeah, it was in a Pacer article I was reading, but it apparently wasn't 100% correct on that particular note; my bad for not double checking it elsewhere I suppose.
Cool! You Can make a video on Days of thunder car please ? ;-)
Glad you enjoyed it. I do have that one on my list to look into as well. Thanks 👍
@@CarStarz42 yes !!! Thanks !
Im not americain but if one days travel in usa , go to Peterson museum and NASCAR race maybe Talladega and finish for Rick Hendrick's museum for watch lumina 46 of Cole Trickle .
My kid Dreams car ;-)
Had to back it up a second. Wouldn't the license be F3B 359? The plane crashed on Feb third. Just checking, otherwise, great channel! Glad I found it.
The plate is "F3B 259", I guess the first "3" was for the date apparently
Never really cared for the pacer! And when I was younger didn't like the gremlin either! But I would actually love to have! A Gremlin all custom!
Lol😉👍
Do you have the semi/helicopter rig from the short run T.V. show, "The Highwayman" from 1987 on your to do list for upcoming videos?
I haven't seen that one, but will put on the list to look into. Thanks
Please do the Simon and Simon camaro, the yellow trans am from wraith, death proof charger, drive Angry charger, Nash bridges cuda, Rockford firebird, Dukes of hazard 00 mustn’t fastback, Lucifer fastback and fastback from the Johnny Knocksville movie
Yep, those are actually all already on my massive list of ones to look into. Thanks👍
Nice Car! 😃
What’s about the stretchlimo in WW2?
👌🏻🤘🏻
Yeah, I may look into that one at some point as well.👍
My mom always said these cars were trash and laughed when they were using it in this movie, which was the point I suppose
Lol, yep; certainly was just there to add to the comedy factor for sure 😉👍
Nothing on the limo from the second movie?
Might look into that behemoth at some point too 😉👍
I was about thirteen years old when those Pacers hit the streets,
I thought those things were butt ugly.. but , after all these years later …
They’re still , butt ugly !
Great movie Though,
Great Video .
Lol, I won't disagree with that 😉 Thanks and glad you enjoyed it👍
@@CarStarz42 BTW, what I like most about the videos you produce, is the editing., a lot of information , in a short amount of time. Also , the great research details . Thanks !
Not sure 🤔 if you have these movie cars in your long list, the Pontiac GTOs from The Faculty & Roadtrip or the Le Mans convertible from the second Jurassic Park movie 🎥.
@@streetsmart1164 Thanks much, the research and editing certainly take the most time and focus for sure and I'm glad it is appreciated 😉
@@johnchurch4705 I do indeed already have those on the list as well. The "Roadtrip" movie is called "Sex Drive" here in the states though. Thanks😉👍
The pacer ended production in 1979
True, but the last year attached to the model is 1980 anyways 😉
Jack Reacher’s SS Chevelle?
Yep, the Jack Reacher cars are already on my list to look into. Thanks.
Why would the person that won this AMC Pacer from MTV not take good care of this movie star car ?! 😡
Yeah, guess a lot of people don't know how to take of cars well or maybe they treated it particularly bad since they got it for "free".
The blue torpedo from Stoned Age did it better!
I believe the blue torpedo was a Volkswagen Squareback, not a Pacer 😉
@mikeandre9052

I’m sure you’re correct; I just meant Joe and Hubs had a cooler and more true to life party mobile than Wayne and Garth. But the Mirthmobile did it first and is great too. Thanks for posting.
@@mikeandre9052 Ah, ok 😉👍
Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?
😉👍
great video but there is nothing cool or interesting about a pacer.
Lol, fair enough. Thanks and glad you enjoyed the video anyways 😉
@@CarStarz42 👍
There is a coffee shop in Chicago that has a replica mirth mobile hanging from their ceiling
Cool 😉👍
