With its muscular design and powerful performance, the GTX perfectly embodies the spirit of classic American muscle cars. Under the hood, a high-performance engine delivers exhilarating speed and a rumbling exhaust note that sends shivers down your spine. I'm an avid Hot Wheels collector, and back in the day Hot Wheels did a series called "retro entertainment", Where they released movie and tv show cars. And man... To put it lightly this car was EVERYWHERE!! Every store had at least 5 on the shelf just sitting there. I can't quite remember the other cars that came out at the same time, but I do believe one of them was the Fast and Furious charger (also the first time that casting was released in all metal)
Yep, I remember that and now Greenlight makes a really detailed one 😉👍
In around 1979 I built a 1967 Plymouth Satellite that looked a lot like this car (Same paint colors, wheels). The car eventually was sold and it ended up in a TWIX candy bar ad (I know because it had the same license plate!)… I always wondered if it might have ended up as one of the cars in Tommy boy. I suppose I will never know for sure.
Cool and maybe so 🙂👍
I'd say there's a decent chance it's your old car, once in the system where it gets used for things like commercials there's a good chance it found it's way into this movie.
If you still know the VIN you just might be able to verify it.
I don’t know the VIN… But I do have a couple of photos of the car. Is there a way to share those?
Waiting a month to get a small shot of a real live deer on top of the car. Talk about dedication.
Lol, indeed.
I wondered if one of these was also in Joe Dirt, when Joe bought a 67 GTX convertible, supposedly with a hemi. David Spade is a Mopar guy.
I thought the same thing. Made him even cooler for me. Especially in Joe dirt when he was reading auto trader and griping about the prices
I love it when the hood flies up as this happened to me at the drag strip right when I shifted into second gear. There was this beautiful girl with great big knockers talking to me in the staging lanes and I left the hood pins in my pocket! HAHAHAHAHA.
Lol, classic; Amazing, and kind of scary how much a hot chick can instantly shift our attention, lol 😁
Is she 300 lbs and a religious fanatic now? LOL That's what happened to my "hot" girlfriend.
"AHHHWWW COMON DAMMIT!!! That sounds good! Melted chocolate in the dash, that's really ups the resale value!"
I remember me and friends warping the VHS tape, pausing at certain scenes to figure out what this cool car was.
Ah to be young and dumb again 😂
One of the cars is owned by a collector that has MANY movie cars. I saw it on Adam the Woo's channel.
Yea I saw that to, it was parked in one of those kinds of pole buildings that doesn't have walls all the way around and is open in the front if I remember correctly, it was in there with a bunch of other movie cars.
He also had a VW micro bus or something like that that'd belonged to a celebrity like Frank Sinatra or someone that even though I don't believe was used in a movie it was something he'd taken his family on a summer tour of America in.
My memory is vague on that one but I do remember seeing that show where someone had a bunch of celebrity and movie cars and I distinctly remember them showing the Tommy Boy car, even though I've never actually seen the movie itself.
Do you remember any of the other vehicles from that show like the camper edition VW or whatever it was I'm thinking about?
Edit, come to think of it I believe it was a camper edition Chevy van that a celebrity had whoever it was.
The gas cap was a dead giveaway that it wasn’t a true 67 GTX. They had the NASCAR style flip open cap. I grew up with a real ‘67 GTX in the driveway. 😁
And a 150 mph speedometer
Many fun facts in this one.
Glad you enjoyed it 😉👍
Loved this movie I hope the merf mobile from Wayne's world is set for a rundown. Another movie car I always wondered about was the offroad style van used in tango and cash.
Yep, they are on the list to look into. Thanks 👍
It's called the "Mirth" mobile... mirth meaning happiness, or something similar.
@@livewire2759 thank you i haven't seen the movie in probably twenty years and I was probably stoned when I did.
@@aaronmcconnell7358 😁
@@aaronmcconnell7358 LOL No problem...
Great video! I work in auto parts and Tommy Boy is one of my favorite movies. :)
Cool😁👍
Thumbs up,i,m always surprised how much they sell for, lol.
Thanks.
Another fun fact about that deer... it was actually an adolescent elk. You can tell by the antlers.
I'll take your word for that as I don't know animals. 😁
Thanks for all of the great info! Subscribed!
Glad you enjoyed it and welcome aboard 👍
Look close at the deer jumping off the car scene and you realize it is a 68 C body Newport not a Satellite/GTX just by the body lines and the square rear side marker light in the quarter panel.🤔
By gum you're right, never noticed that. They removed the skirt and it looks like the wheel opening was crudely flared with bondo. Good pickup.
OMG!!! I never noticed that!! Great eyes.
Hahaha 😂😂 how did nobody pick that up goof after 27 years.
Can you do a video on any of the cars from the movie Cannonball? Mainly interested in the blue Chevy Van, but a video on any of the cars would be cool
I can tell you there were at least three Trans Ams used and two Chargers (check how the RT tailstripe changes colours between scenes) and look out for the camera tow Trans Am which has the lower front spoiler removed and towing brackets added. The director, who hated cars, was forced into making Cannonball (originally released as Carquake! ) and supposedly decided to wreck every car that he could as a protest. That’s why the Corvette is about the only survivor. I’ve never found out anything about the Chevy Van other than it appears to be a 1965 or ‘66, I highly doubt it survived. Interesting to see it get hit in a New York alley by a Thunderbird that was parked at the start in LA…
I always wondered if this was the same car featured in the joe dirt movie.
Look mommy, the rhino’s getting too close to the car! Him too afraid to get out. He just a little guy!
Hey buddy i dont know if you saw my last reply to your message but there is 1 more movie id like to request. A 1967 Camaro steals the movie when it comes on screen. The movie is BETTER OFF DEAD starring JOHN CUSAK its an 80’s flick. U wont regret watching it. Dark comedy and so good. Im askin ya please sir. Thanx!!!!
Yep, that one is already on the list to look into; a great movie indeed 😉👍
@@CarStarz42 stroker ace and better off dead!!! I can die happy!!! 🤘 lol.
@@New_Jax_Citystroker ace the plucked chicken.
@@CarStarz42 I’d like to know what happened to the Camaro and the Falcon too, for that matter.
@@johndean2110 haha Yes!!! Cant wait.
Epic car guy movie is Fast Company. There's an awesome street racing scene you have to see.
I'll have to look into that one as I haven't seen it. Thanks👍
Made in Canada about drag racing by some guy called David Cronenberg… 😮
My first car was a hopped up 383 66 Satellite, practically the same as a 67. It was hard for me to watch Tommy Boy as he wrecked that beautiful car. That is the same body style Richard Petty drove to countless wins in NASCAR.
Is the Plymouth Satellite the equivalent of the Pontiac Lemans, in that they're frequently used to clone the division's more desirable cars?
Kind of… yes, that’s fair. But that’s less common than it was 20 years ago. More people are enjoying them now for what they really are and I’m glad to see it.
Yes, base model car…
The Velvet Collection May be in possession of one of those auctioned
Interesting.
The car definitely appears in Joe Dirt, painted orange. It also appears in David Lynch's Lost Highway, this time painted black.
I'm pretty sure one of the cars was used as the orange "hemi" in Joe Dirt.
I agree.
How about 007 cars, The Monkee mobile, Adam 12. Great videos "Subscribed"
Welcome and yes, those are indeed already on my mega to do list Indeed 😉
If you haven't done the Fury from Christine, that would be cool.
That's one of my favorites; I'm just saving that one for the Halloween season😉
About time there was another ‘it’s a Fury in the book but not in the film’ debate 😂
I really like this channel. Do you take request for future car/truck ideas?
Thanks; indeed I do and already have hundreds of cars on my list to look into. Which movie are you thinking of suggesting?
@@CarStarz42I'd like to see something on the Mercury used in the movie Cobra with Sylvester Stallone.
@@1320fastback Yep, that one is already on my massive list to look into indeed. Thanks 😁
@@CarStarz42 The Bonnie & Clyde 1934 Ford sedan from the movie (1967). John-boy's cream-colored ford coupe from the Walton's tv show. Both Kenworth trucks from Smokie & the Bandit movies. The yellow 1957 chevy from the movie, Return to Macon County Line. These are just a few that I can think of at the moment. 😉
@@canipetthatdog1005 Yep, most of those were already on my list to look into; except for the Bonnie and Clyde one, but I'll add it to the list to look into as well. Thanks! 🙂👍
The car in the scene where the deer jumped out was a big 68 Chrysler New Port or a New Yorker
You are right!!!
I always heard that David Spade owned this car.
Nope, but he does own a real Daytona Charger along with a lot of other cool cars in his collection 😉
The deer is standing on the trunk of a '68 Chrysler Newport in #6.
Yep, seems to be and discussed prior. The scene that the deer was trashing the car was one of the four Satellites however 😉👍
Please make a video on the custom Chevelle Dwayne Johnson drives in Faster!
I'll add it to the long list to look into. Thanks
You should do Robbies Chevy Caprice cop car from black sheep
Yep, that one is on my list to look into as well. Thanks
Fact #11, in the deer jumping off scene the deer jumps off of a 1968 Chrysler Newport.
Indeed and has been discussed a bit on here already 😉
I believe the satellite was used in one of the newer children of the corn movie's.
Possibly, I've never watched any of those, but I think someone else mentioned that some time ago as well 😉
What was the year, make, and model of the one in Joe Dirt? And not the Charger Daytona (yes, I saw that episode).
I thought this was the same car in Joe Dirt painted orange
Would love to know whatever happened to the Porsche from the 80s movie Bachelor Party.
I'll add it to the list to look into. Thanks 👍
Talk about a movie car that nobody really talks about
I know you already did a GTO, but there was also a GTO in the movie Sex Drive.
Yep, that one is already on my to do list; I do loves them GTOs 😁👍
The most wackiest road trip ever done by two guys in order to save big companie while going through many insane moments that no one should do at all but unfortunately that's what happens to 67 gtx as it ends up becoming nearly junk for our guys trying get to airport at the end of movie well then carstarz i finally can say that no mopar car should be destroyed on film but its hollywood way or the highway ok then i see you next time bye now.
Indeed 😉👍
That was great. Lol.
Is that the same type of car he had in Joe Dirt ???
If you mean that orange car that wasn't on screen much that he called his "Hemi", yes. But the main Joe Dirt car was a Dodge Charger and there is a separate video on that one on here if you want to see that.
@@CarStarz42 cool thank you !!!
Can you do 10 facts about the trucks from Joyride and Joy ride 2 Dead ahead and joyride 3
I'll add them to the long list of ones to look into. Thanks.
