    The original Coyote X from season 1 is just so beautiful to my eye. Even more so than an original McLaren M6 GT. I ignore the VW pan and engine when I say that. • @wiedapp
      @wiedapp Před 10 měsíci

      As tempting as a V8 in that car would be: A bog standard V8, even made from billet aluminum, is just too heavy. How much lead do you want to be moulded into the front bumper? Yes...
      And which Gearbox do you want to use? Porsche G50? These are getting rare as well...
      An air-cooled flat four, brought up to around 150hp will play with a tube chassis and fiberglass panels just fine. Look up what the empty weight of a regular bug is and shave half of it off. That should be a rough estimate on such a kit cars weight. You just have to put some ingenuity into the thermal management. It's enough for show and some little fun here and there. Power to weight ratio and weight distribution are the most important magic equations in car design.

      And you can't possibly mean the Maserati MC12 (it has a V12 and is based on the Ferrari Enzo...and WAY too big). Do you mean the McLaren MP4 12C with it's 3.8L V8?
      Still: A V8 is too heavy in the little chassis of a coyote, especially as a rear engine, like in the bug base. If you could somehow manage to make it a mid engine, that could be another story.

He had it built up with a custom tubular aluminum frame, a supercharged 3800 V-6 from a 2004ish Monte Carlo, painted jet black, and had a spoiler from a 2004 Impala on it. Weighed in at only 1800 pounds and, according to him, had 320HP. Too bad money was tight at the time. $9,500 was a steal for it.

    i loved that show. preferred the 1st year car the most. i could never decide if i preferred the Ferrari 308 ( magnum pi ) or the coyote car, i wanted either so bad. pissed off that someone would destroy that first year car, he could have built what he did from scratch. i knew it was a kit car back then but didn't know any more than that. great video.

      Back around 2012 I had the chance to buy a Manta Montage from a guy in Omaha. Still kicking myself for NOT doing it.

    The stunt car that was in Jay Ohrberg's Museum (which he and his cars are no longer a part of), went from the museum to Riverside, CA where it was on display at Don's Lock & Key until it sold to a buyer overseas several years ago. I put my daughter in that car in her car seat when she was 3 days old.

    I remember seeing one of the Coyote's at Disney World MGM Studios, Florida back in 1996 on their back lot tram tour. It wasn't a polished display car, but just parked outside in the elements with other prop cars from movies and TV shows. The paint was faded a bit from UV exposure.

And amazingly i did... not a cayote but a british build Ultima, based on a Lola T70 instaed of the mc laren, but similar exept for having a proper racing engine... But M&M got it a started for me...

    It only took me 40 years but finally, many of the rumors /legends I, and others,grew up (being an early teen in the show's series run) wondering about and had mainly just flat had given up ever having confirmation of, knowing even with any confidence (most of this had become known in the preceding decades lol) of but, as the first and third season opening show's theme engine and the show's sound effect for the Coyote's engine sound has always been a unicorn myth of legend most often guessed as being the Ferrari V12, usually from the 400i manual transmission variant, although f/x altered somehow, being most often stated as being the prime suspect, lol!!

    You should do a video on the "Rampage" Bronco that was used. That too, while cool to look at, was not a street runner. In fact, it was not street legal. And after filming, was retired in some warehouse. The only reason the concept SUV was used in the movie was because DJ wanted to drive a Ford and not a Jeep product. (why they did not use a Ford truck is beyond me)

    My friends and I loved watching shows with cars as a main character just to see when parts flew off of them or the frame tacoed during jump scenes. Fall Guy was a good one for the latter, I don't know how many trucks they went through but it wasn't a good endorsement for GM's full size trucks in general. I can see you did an episode about that one, it's next on my list LOL

    Grew up watching H&M. Always loved the coyote (VW version)… When I was in my teens I swear someone had 1 sitting in their backyard next to the alley.. Pretty sure it wasn’t a manta, it was red and even said coyote on it. It sit there for awhile. I was mowing lawns at the time and saving money. Was going to wait until I had at least $700 before knocking on the door asking if they would sell it. Before I had the money it was gone.
