- This has been on the bench for almost a year. Time to move it forward to completion. SO this video was moving connecting rods from the pistons that were in the "hurt" motor to new pistons, installing those pistons, and assembling the crank shaft. LOTS of little details here I didn't put in the "1.0" Johnson 70hp build I did last year. More video's to come, really the hard part is over, just nuts & bolts now to get it done and on a boat.

You did an excellent outboard rebuilding work on your 70hp Johnson , and what was a beautiful sea trail scenery on the river there! My 1989 70hp Evinrude is still ticking along every time I take the boat out cheer Sir !!
Oh. You are very good at boat engines too, not just chainsaws. Following with great interest from now on.
thats interesting the clearance on those piston r 10 thou. on my o/s v4 my clearance on the skirt was only 4 thou but could be the reason why my compression was uneven & had binding with assembly.
Manual says .007 , I thought .010" was a bit much , BUT it runs fine with little or no slap.
@@htssoutboardsboatstrains9784 the said if the cyln r oversize more than .004 it needs to be rebore. When I tore down my motor the cyln was worn & pistons were loose in their on all 4 holes. The ring Gap should of been from .019-.031. I measured. 0.038-.041. That's abt .010 over end Gap tolerance. & abt .003 cyln o/s.
You didn't put enough emphasis on the big end cap alignment.
The fracture doesn't always guarantee alignment
