I learned a lot about matchups and how to bait defenses and kite by playing a meme 1 shot build, simply because it's a lot easier to play (few buttons, you get it or you don't).
Being easier to play meant I could spend time observing my opponent and my game plan was very clear, so less to worry about myself translated in a better understanding of other builds.
Later on I enjoyed other more well rounded builds because what I learned this way stayed, and I could worry about better rotations.
Vallun already stokes my terminal altoholism, this vid is probs the last nail in my poverty coffin 😭
It's really fun to see all these "out of meta" weapons being used in such an effective way.

omg thank you - i'm just starting the video but am excited. i get one shot all the freaking time whenever i enter wvw and it gets really really depressing. i'm a noob and these builds kill all my enthusiasm for the game mode. it'll be nice to learn a bit more about them to see if i can either compete or survive better for once.
Do you have full exotic gear yet? WvW is more end game tbh. If you do not have full exotic gear, you will die quickly and often. I suggest finding a commander or a tag to follow and zerg wit
@@growingoaks Hey thanks, yeah I always go into WvW fully equipped with exotic equipment and ascended trinkets, but it doesn't make much of a difference no matter what build I use, I'm very often dead on arrival. I am having a little better luck with a Cele Willbender and am about to take a Cele Mirage into the field soon. Still everything else I try just dies.
@@samuelvine hmm i see. What class are you? I get wrecked sometimes as thief but ive mostly been using a 1 shot soulbeast for wvw. Thinking if switchin that up to Druid for wvw though the cc is insanity.
@@growingoaks I actually go through spurts and rotate between all the classes except Thief lol. I kinda did a little better than usual with a Trailblazer Untamed but it felt a bit tricky. Haven't tried Druid in a long time because I'm terrible at using astral power lol, but I've seen Paper Roll wreck the world on one. I'm sure a lot of it comes down to my skill but it's kinda impossible to practice when you're always one shot in 3 seconds.

True ONE-shots are so rare though. My absolute favourite playstyle in any MMO ever is the S/F fresh air ele in GW2. It was extremely risky and technical to run but so slippery and powerful when mastered. Since then I've always stuck to glass cannon builds. I love the no-mistakes-permitted playstyle, forcing you to be super engaged. If you do it well, it's the most spectacular thing ever and nobody is safe.
my favorite 1 shot of all time was playing a 2h shadowblade in Dark age of camelot and perfing a caster.
I was completely expecting the Mesmer one shot to be the F1 volley of Virtuoso.
maybe because that is the only mesmer that can really oneshot in terms of only using 1-2 buttons for that amount of dmg. other mesmer builds have to invest a lot more cds in a well timed correct order to combo up :D

Hiya Vallun! I wanted to message you in-game, but worried it might be lost in a full inbox. I've been playing around recently with some condi Specter builds for PVE, but am struggling with them in WvW. Would you consider making a "One Build to Rule them all" about Condi Specter with all the recent updates in mind? (If possible, focussing on the Scepter?)
I kind of feel that Specter is in the situation where if the build runs well in WvW (Roaming), it's not that great for strikes and general PVE. Am very curious about your thoughts/ideas. I'm currently running a zerker/marauder Specter with Sc/D as the main set, and Sw/D when I'm in a 2v1 or I need to do mass condi cleanse.
I'd love to be able to walk into WvW and roam with a Specter condi build, and with the same build enter a Strike/Raid.

Hello i am a new player and planning to buy an expansion. I am a fighter type so i played warrior and still lvl 45. Can you suggest me the best class to play to make it my main? I got 200+ ping always, can I survive in pvp/wvw if i played as a warrior? Hope you give me tips and build thanks!

Could you explain the Holo 1-Shot please. In sPvP I always go with the sword 3+ overheat or Rifle 5 + Overheat. In this video you did it from range and I can't tell what's happening.

Step one: play DD thief.
Step two: find enemy wvw streamer
Step three: ask them in twitch to show their build
Step four: oneshot them when their view is blocked by hero menu

how did he cancel his dragon hunters long bow 5 skills? dont u normally get stuck in an animation?
was buffed a while ago so that you only need to stand still for like a second then it keeps going independently

Personally, I like it when 1 shot meets Tank, the results are very interesting. I mostly am support player. I have received some heated messages as a tank.
Hello, I am planning on getting into WvW, and I also want to be a tank. Can you please share a build, or at least point at right direction, as I've scrolled the internet and came up with nothing but heated debates about who's the tankiest.
@@WingyLalka you can experiment in pvp loby and in unranked and make your build that works, I made tank/condi staff/well build for necro by myself wich works wonders in pvp.
Haha d/d thief while yes gimmicky is the hardest thief set to play. Plus its just silly fun to zerg dive playing it :D

I am only getting about 5k dps, what am I doing wrong? I have 2 missing wvw mighty infusions, but I'm guessing that isn't the problem.
you're gonna need to be more specific, dps is not a good metric in wvw
@@Vallun I'm too much of a noob to explain it. Like that f3 skill shatters clones, but you use it first so you don't have clones. I went into the LA practice raid area and when the golum you create gets to 80% it shows your dps, mine was just a little over 5k and I thought it would be at least 10k from reading about other people doing 10k dps in wvw. I'm sorry if I can't explain it good enough. Thank you though, I hope this makes sense, if not I don't know how to explain it. Also, if I understand correctly the first skill you use besides stealth and blink is that f3 skill, followed by skill2, then skill7, followed by the f1 skill then skill 3? Mass invisibilty, then blink to target, followed by diversion, then mirror blade, then mirror images, followed by mind wrack and finishing with mind stab?
Also so far I cannot cast the skills as fast as you do, maybe that has something to do with it. No matter I am going to keep practicing this new build as I stayed up all night crafting ascended armor and weapons for him :)
stop looking at your dps and work on pulling off your combos better. slow down the video if needed and see what order vallun presses his buttons
@@fretmajik777 as i said dps is not a good metric, the mesmer build does very low dps but huge burst, the golem is only to test your combos

This game make non sense at all, berserker should be the glass cannon, but instead they give a ranger this role, amazing, even a thief that should be the assassin class, lack of dmg

wvw compared to pvp isnt even CLOSE to the same. i wish you put this much into pvp. th only ones doing wvw are experainced players
I am so unsure how to feel about it on one side its kinda cool on the other side its pretty dumb

overall I really hope anet finds a way to remove one shots while not makeing everything super bunkerish
And here comes the problem: One shots are impossible to remove, even in chess you can one shot your opponent if they blunder mate in one. It comes down to the knowledge of the enemy. So if they know how to utilize their defensive abilities you won't be able to one shot them. And everyone can learn how to use them. In the end it depends on which one put more time and effort into learning the classes and game mechanics. And there is no way any game developer can remove this from their game.

I agree. That's why I never play WvW unless I have to. It's not fun. You walk for 25 minutes then get one shot by one sweaty asshole. Structured pvp has its issues with match making but it's never that bad

Gonna be honest, as an Ele (non-bunker) main I'm subjected to far too many toxic builds, not only one-shots. It's getting old.
And as much as I'd like to be able to do so in return, at 180 ping the inputs just don't work for something like fresh air burst.
More practice or just accept that it is what it is? I'm seriously considering switching to glass cannon 3 input gank classes to relax.

you better should show some of the most annopying wvw stuff and thats classes that are undestructible. ive seen 3-4 player hammering all they have on one player and the end was 3 dead players and 1 who already left the fight after a minute. a fugfeast of cosntant blocks dmg absoprbing escapes health regens and what not plus a boon bar that is cosntantly refilling...one shot is so 2k wow. havent seen it in 6 weeks wvw now tbh. its all about mr or mrs undestructible while donking down 3 players in a dance contest

Well it's not news that wvw is broken and easily abusable. And so is pvp with meta builds but these "one shot" builds aren't one shot at all in pvp and I rarely see people playing them cuz they're poosiesss. (Other than those cheeky perma-invulnerable mesmer and ele cunts)
None of these encounters are one shot.
This the pure garbage that is GW anyone thinking of this game go waste your time somewhere else between the broken hacks used every day ANET sucks! Do not give them your money!
