#DowntonAbbey - Zábava
"If you can't say anything helpful, Robert, please be silent."🤣🤣🤣. The look on his face😂
*NOTHING* gets past the Dowager.
she is a twin to my grandmama.
The glee with which Maggie Smith set her teeth in this role is a marvel to behold! She milked every conceivable ounce of pleasure and satisfaction from those lines, giving in turn Julian Fellows and all of us a character of nigh Shakespearean proportions! What a brilliant performance!
Well said.
Hear, hear!
Not just a Dame but a Lady 🎉 ❤
At this point she deserved to hold the title of Countess in real life.
@@christophermichaelclarence6003 Isn't she one better than that? She's a dame, right?
The Dowager Countess was quite possibly my favorite character in the entire series! So fun and full of cracking wit! :D
My favorite is Isobel -- and the interaction between her and Violet.
Spratt though,
I never get enough of Maggie Smith I hope she has longevity like I do we're the same age I'll be 90 in May2024 I don't know her birth months but I know she's the same age as I am right now maybe she already turned 90 I don't know I never get tired of watching her what a great lady and actress.😍😍
You don't look a second older than 79 ❤😊 and I hope both of you turn at least 102 years old.
I agree- she has no equal!
A premature many happy returns, and may you have many more to come.
Hope you have a long and fulfilling time ahead. Happy early 90...
Dame Maggie Smith's date of birth is 28Dec1934. As of this writing, that puts her at 89 plus a few weeks. She's seven months younger than you are. She was diagnosed w/Graves disease in January 1988. She also has a history of cancer & a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer's.
"Are we having tea or not?" 😂😂😂
Get on with it!
“Have you changed your pills?”
BEST LINE😂
She is annoying ... (to me) ..
@@clarkclarkeshe might think the same thing about you
I love the way she delivers it too! It sounds so casual and light hearted. 😂
And great delivery of that line too!
That little smirk at the end..
Maggie Smith such a wonderful treasure.
Don't you mean Maggie?
@@melaniekendall4903 Yes, your quite right. Corrected. Thank you.
Favorite line us when Maggie Smith is asked how she feels about being wrong and she responds shes not familiar with the sensation.
Laura Carmichael is trying with all her might not to crack up during the telephone scene. Who can blame her??
At 3:08. "Dr. Clarkson, I am no Jacobin revolutionary nor do I seek to overthrow the civilized world." LOL. I love how rooted in history the Dowager's language is. This exchange with the doctor took place in 1915 or 1916, before the Bolsheviks came to supplant the Jacobins as the frightening, violent revolutionaries bent on destroying everything the Dowager holds dear. Later on the Dowager hears first-hand the horrors of the Russian Revolution from Prince and Princess Kuragin.
Such a great character and so well-played. She was always so pleased and amused with herself. A joy to watch. One of the few characters that stayed true to form throughout the series. I attribute the lack of to the writing but this brilliant actress didn't let it happen to her character. She saved this show for me.
I have heard that Dame Maggie Smith doesn't like the attention she has garnered, for her portrayal of the Dowager Countess on Downton Abbey.
I on the other hand, would like to thank her... most whole heartedly.
Smith (along with Julian Fellows) created a most unusual, and endearing, character.
Smith and Fellows have opened a window into the past... and allowed us to view a life (and lifestyle) long gone from this world.
A past full of people and positions... that have ceased to have any meaning in the modern world.
It isn't an easy accomplishment... creating a character that strikes so many cords.... with so many people... around the world.
Dame Maggie's knowledge and use of sarcasm is unmatched, the casting of Dowager Countess was/is best suited. This role is epitomous to Dame Maggie's career. 💖
I love the fashion changes in the series
Me tooooo
Lady Violet was a brilliant character. Maggie Smith absolutely slayed the role
"I wonder you don't just set fire to the Abbey and dance round it, painted with wode and howling!"
"Is the family an old one?"
"Older than yours, I imagine."
They fly fast and furious in the Thunderdome😂😂😂
Maggie Smith is a world treasure
I know we all love Maggie Smith, but can I just say that Penelope Wilton is also so good in so many shows/movies. Love her Doctor Who character who becomes Prime Minister. "Yes, we know who you are..." And Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, also with Smith. Calendar Girls... Pride and Prejudice, and then Shaun of the Dead?! 😎 And they both tend to play smart, abrasive, witty women. They are so much fun to watch together!
My favorite show in twenty years!!
I just love the Dame Maggie Smith.
Love Maggie Smith !
There will never NEVER be a TV series as good as Downton Abbey. Period!!
Period
The woman who plays Mrs Crawley and Judy Dench are a delight and would be great in their own TV series
Judy Dench? The actress playing the dowager Countess is Maggie Smith.
Your Ladyship, it started as a instrument of communication and torture weaseled it way in. Most unsuitable.
4:00 So true. So true. 😅
The road ahead is vast, and everything can be expected.😊
I wonder you don't just set fire to the Abbey and dance around it. 🤣
7:33 my favourite line
That sounds like a page from my family !😮
It goes to these peoples heads like strong drink whitty❤
🙂 💯
I don't recall if I have ever seen that last scene.
❤
hilarious. I wanted her as MY grandmother
I would love for the episode season and number to be put in the description
For context the scenes in this video span multiple seasons of Downton Abbey.

@@m.layfette6249 oh I see. I’ve seen the series, but I didn’t realize that immediately
8:40 😂
Thank goodness the Dowager could hold her own ...geesh ... Cousin Violet is tiresome ...😣
I love cousin Violet! ❤ She's the only one who holds her own against the Dowager.
@@arodvaz1528 Aren't you both confused? Violet Crawley is the Dowager Countess of Grantham. Isobel is simply Mrs. Isobel Crawley, although she later becomes Lady Merton.
@@andrewjones-productionsExactly!
@@andrewjones-productions I only watched some episodes so you may be right. The one that came up with the hospital idea is who I am talking about.
the Dowager IS Violet.
What favor did Violet want from Edith?
Thank you for the birthday wishes from h a u t e0 3 that was very sweet and kind of you I appreciate that. And since the last time I put a comment a while back what did say 3 weeks ago I found out that I'm 5 months older than Maggie Smith and Judi Dench so they're just kids I'm the older person their birthday is in December that's just like that song isn't it it's a long long time from May to December how weird is that my mind wanders LOL bye-bye🤩🤩
Laugh and pour people into the city, and then laugh and pour people into the country.
They say there is 'plenty of money', but the Inner Fold in TRUTH has grudges in whom they share it with; They have kept me poor for many yearsd (as even a native to USA), when Obama was in Office I then had no INCOME for six years, and my own blood line stole my portion of inheritance in which my sister was not around for my parents; I was living with them and helping them out for many years. A sister that was out and about galavanting with all her boyfriends over a period of years then took from me and made me lose a lot more of what I had and got herself another beautiful home and she had the NERVE to tell me that "You have a lot of stuff"??? FAMILY is not your FAMILY when it comes to MONEY. In all honesty the INNER FOLD was, and still is a PREDATOR upon many lives.
you sound so bitter.. I am sorry about that.
@@mariahoulihan9483 StarEssence sounds either a bit loopy or as high as a kite on some illicit substance to me.

Why is everyone complimenting their acting? So pretentious and repetitive. Also, characters played are disgusting. Huffy puffy.
Are we going to have tea, or what??
