I love the implication that Majima spoke to the Florist in a completely normal voice, then went back to his “Mad Dog” voice when he was talking to Kiryu.
He really just said, "Excuse me sir, would you please put Kiryu Chan on? If you don't mind that is.
I like how Majima has every bit of emotion while Kiryu is just (- _-) the whole time.

In all honesty that fits the games. As much as they sometimes have moments of "Yo boss, wtf??" they do care about him and since he's been leading them for years, they kinda 'grew into' him. Just like in the baseball scene where Majima gets hit in the face for laughs, the others know they should laugh about it and it's okay because Majima wants them to laugh, except for one (presumably a new guy). Plus there's the fact they all endured hours of Hollywood level makeup work to get transformed into zombies just to prank Kiryu, so they clearly love their boss and are fully willing to go along with his antics.
O to be one of majima's underlings 🤭

bucket of cowboys this is the greatest thing I've ever discovered
I wish we could somehow get this thing fully translated. It seems like such a fun and pretty faithful retelling of the first game with some liberties taken, but nothing that takes away from the overall experience. In fact, I love some of these changes! Majima barging right in and interrupting Shimano for example was hilarious! The cast was pretty great too. Besides Majima being perfect obviously, I like who they picked for Kiryu. He's basically how I would've envisioned Kiryu in real life.
My favorite change that was made was the character analysis they did for Nishiki. I'm pretty sure this play was inspired by the original yakuza, and in that game there wasn't much development for Nishiki. But, in the play, they added the moment where Kazama tells Kiryu and Nishiki that their parents are dead and that they are now orphans (which is where I got the clip of Nishiki crying from). This scene not only makes Kazama confessing to killing their parents more shocking/sad, but it also gives us a reason to feel bad for Nishiki and his transformation. The people who made this play were fucking brilliant.
@@bucketofcowboys4970 That’s actually amazing, considering how this came before Yakuza Kiwami, which had the Nishiki flashbacks to further develop his turn to the dark side, but as you said, the OG Yakuza 1 did not have much development for Nishiki. It’s pretty cool how a stage play did past scenes that built up Nishiki before the remastered Kiwami version came out.
It honestly feels like a flat out parody with how insane this is.
My only problem out of these scenes is that they completely gutted the menace and power that Shimano has as a character. Naturally, they couldn't focus on everything the games had or the play would be around 20 hours long at least, but Shimano really suffered from this. Casting the shortest bald dude around is one thing, but then having Majima actively make fun of him, to his face and about the fact he's bald no less, with no repercussions, that just makes Shimano into a complete joke. And it kinda kneeshots Majima too, since canonically he was TERRIFIED of Shimano despite his subtle defiance in 0.
Plus, I mean the dude was a menace just in general. He basically caused the events of 0 with the Omi attempt at landgrabbing, he was a huge part in 1 with the money laundering scheme and turning Nishiki to the dark and while he was dead in 2, his impact could still really be felt in both the Jingweon mafia as well as in the post-Kiryu Tojo.

If you already know the story you could watch the full thing with at least having a basic idea of what js going on... the only problem is that the play adds EXTRA scenes that you will be unable to understand without translation. I tried my best to translate the scenes that weren't translated lol, but idk Japanese

I love how every version of Majima is the best there will ever be, from the more serious Majima in Yakuza 0 to the Mad Dog of Shimano in the other parts and even the screenplay version is amazing. They captured the essence of Majima pretty good, from what I've seen.
