Yes Derek as a volunteer Welcome Steward at the cathedral it was a difficult policy to implement politely. However most people were fine about it if you explained the policy and the reasons for it. Also there's no charge for entry to the cathedral which is good following the Benedictine rule of welcoming visitors. There's a new stained glass window commissioned by the parents of a Durham University student who died whilst studying there so it would be lovely to see photographs of that. The main tower has reopened recently with fantastic views of the city & on some days you can now also go up the North West Tower (only 137 steps) & from there you get different views of the cathedral, so it's a good time to visit. I hope you do a video of Durham as my photography is of the point & click variety! I buy the books. Happy travels.
Thank you Winifrede, it is good to learn that you are a Welcome Steward. I hope to plan a visit in September, after the school holidays, in the hope that I can produce a CZcams programme about my trip.
Just to update Durham Cathedral's policy now allows photography with exceptions such as use of flash & when services are taking place. Your video classes are wonderful. Thank you.
Thank you for updating me about Durham, that is great news, for which we could thank the smartphone as it is difficult to stop photography with that device! Will have to purchase a cheap LNER rail ticket now! Glad you like my shows.
I always love your videos and photographs! I purchased an Olympus OM1-EM1 because of your videos and I am in love with my camera! Even as a beginner, the image colours and detail amaze me! The compositions of mine do not, but I will keep trying... Thank you, again! Superb!
I am so pleased that you enjoy using your Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera. If you haven't got it already, the 12-100 Pro lens is a fabulous optic, if a little expensive. I am not sure what my next CZcams production will be, but in the New Year I plan to visit the Wye Valley on the border of England and South Wales.
I have the Olympus 12mm, Olympus 17mm, and Lumix 25mm primes. I tried the Olympus 25mm, but it made a "whirring" sound when focusing. I do want a zoom as it seems to be easier than changing all these lenses. Yes, the 12-100mm is a bit pricey. Time will tell... I look forward to your next video. I hope you don't wait until the New Year... Thanks!

Perhaps you should try the 12-50 zoom. Derek has shown how good it can be in earlier episodes, and it is certainly inexpensive (and widely available secondhand) relative to the 'Pro' range lenses.

Just watched in time to use my 12-100 Derek! Watched and saved. Thank you!
Thank you. The 12-100 is a fantastic lens. Glad the programme was helpful.

These videos are just beautiful and you share your enthusiasm and knowledge so generously it is really appreciated.
Kevin Walsh Always good to hear that my productions are appreciated, thank you.

Excellent as usual and most enjoyable Derek - please keep them coming!
I will try to keep them coming. Have done several recently and feel a little saturated! Best wishes.

The ‘whirring’ sound could have occurred if the outer ring around the lens had been accidentally moved to the manual focussing position.
