    Good vid. Just one thing (always is, right?) Use carriage bolts from the inside to reduce protrusions inside the bucket that will collect debris. Then, cut excess bolt from outside to reduce snags on vines and such. Nice tool. You just cost me $300.

      the instruction plainly state put the nut on the inside, and the supplied bolts are just long enough , to not have to cut off anything, stop being a know it all

    With exposed threads on different parts of my tractor I've started wrapping them with teflon tape. It's cheap and provides some protection.

    So the two clamps that are in the bucket are not really there?

    I talked to a Manufacture Rep about these bars. I needed something to scrape snow pack off of a parking lot. The Rep highly recommended it so I bought one. It did work great, for about an hour. The bottom of the blade started wearing off almost immediately. The more I scraped the more I had to tilt down to get it to dig. The bottom of the blade was curled up within a couple hours of use. It is a great design and worked well, but only for a short time for my use. There is no hardening on the blade at all so don't expect a long life. I called the Rep again to talk about it, and all he said was, "well I didn't know you wanted to scrape the whole parking lot". Seriously, that's it? He wouldn't even discuss it with me. Maybe at least case harden them. A+ for design, D- for durability, and F for customer service.

      thats the first negative comment i heard about these blades,was looking at buying one myself wonder if theres others out there with complaints

      todd fraser, I think it would depend on what you want to use it for. For digging soft dirt or roots I think it would work really good. If you soil is hard or has a lot of rocks I think you could expect it not to wear very well. I bought mine because I saw no negative comments, but I also didn't see anyone that had used it for scraping snow. I literally got one use out of mine.
      Depending on what your wanting to use it for you might want to look into a clamp on tooth bar that has replaceable teeth.

      @@toddfraser7025 If you ask me any bucket is going to degrade if you don't use some sort of blocks to keep the actual edge off the pavement. No steel is going to last under those conditions. If he had kept it off the surface a bit then no problems. If these were made of hardened steel like so many people suggest they would all be cracking/fracturing because hardened steel does not give under stress it fractures. Thse things are designed to give under the stress of digging and hitting rocks and hard stuff. These guys know well what they are doing. Unfortunately most people are not aware of these design details.

    Nice video. Maybe shim the gap on the side, even with washers. Taking any of the gap out will reduce the residual on the weld.

    • @CopperCettle
      @CopperCettle Před 4 lety

      the supplied bolts wont be long enough if you do that

    • @EastyUK
      @EastyUK Před 4 lety

      @@CopperCettle Maybe, looked like The part deformed as he tightened it up. Alternatively just grab some longer bolts. having residual stress in welds will certainly reduce life with the type of loads these buckets see.

      @@EastyUK I have talked with the owner and they designed the brackets to flex so that they can produce the Piranha Tooth bar with slack in case people measure a bit off and so its easier to get into position on the bucket. They put a lot of thought into their products. Great company! We also did a video showing the install and explain this issue.

    Use oil or cutting fluid when drilling through steel thicker than 1/8". Your drill bits will thank you by drilling nicer holes and a longer life.
    Too bad they don't make these out of AR-500 steel. I've been all over their website and best I can figure is they are using mild carbon steel for their blades and attachments. Which is why they cost what they do. The AR-500 steel would add considerably more to the price as would any heat treatment. Be nice if they had an option for better steel or a hard face treatment.

    • @ForestToFarm
      @ForestToFarm Před 4 lety

      They are not using AR500 because it will fracture far easier than the steel they use. The Piranha actually holds up much better the way they build them. These guys think of everything and have gotten this attachment down to a science.

    Bolt nut should have been placed on the outside of the bucket not the inside..think about they reason why and you'll come up with the same conclusion

      The intent is a removable cutting edge. There are times you need a straight cutting edge instead of a toothed edge.
