It was Sue's birthday on 27th June so I arranged to go away for a few days - our first "holiday" since we moved here 6 years ago.
We settled on a staycation and stayed at the Fuerteventura Princess Hotel on an all-inclusive basis for three nights. The hotel is located in the south of the island on Esquinzo Beach.
It was a good break but I don't think we would have wanted to stay any longer than 3 days. For a longer holiday I would prefer to rent an apartment and go out to different restaurants to eat.

Happy birthday Sue. Right next door to our favourite hotel Club Jandia princess. Back there in September to have our personal wedding ceremony near Sotavento on the beach (playa del salmo) and incorperating our honeymoon. We love your videos but this one really made our day and got us even more excited about coming back 😍
Sue says thanks. I tried to book the Jandia Princess. I found a deal for 410 all-inclusive for 3 nights and asked Sue what she thought when she got home 30 minutes later. She said ok so I hit book. Happy birthday to Sue! You reminded me of the half board package we had in Lanzarote. Almost the same food as I see it in your video. We actually liked all the luxurious food but every day I stuffed myself and I was bloated throughout the 10days we were there. Not such a nice feeling. I think that if you go to local restaurants you get to try different things and you don't overeat!
Sue says thank you. I prefer making the evening meal more of an event by being waited on and it taking more than the 30-40 minutes it took there.

Don't know how I missed this originally but glad I found it now, JP. We've booked a week in Jandia (Morro Jable) this December and are looking forward to it even more now. Sotavento beach looks like our kind of beach too. We'll definitely be going there. Beers at 9:30 am would be a bit early for me too. I like the sun to be at least approaching the yardarm when I have my first. Hope you are both OK. Have a coffee, or two, on us. All the best.

Hi JP and Happy Birthday Sue. Nice 'travelogue'. Lovely AI Resort but not my cuppa either. I think all the ups and downs would do my knees in. That's why Corralejo is our destination of choice. It might be tacky, but its flat. Lol. Awesome beach at Sotavente though. I know its AI but drinking beer at 9am?!
Sue says thanks. It killed Sue's knees and hip too. The beaches all along the Jandia peninsula are beautiful. To some people drinking is the most important part of their holiday it seems, which is a sad way to be. Thanks for watching.

I'm with you on the All Inclusive part, I like to visit different restaurants/tavernas every night, support the locals... even though with two small kids it probably costs a lot more! Over in Corralejo next Sunday, was booked in to Origo Mare which you sort of reviewed ;) in another video, but changed it as we were self catering and its in the middle of nowhere.. all the best!
haha - I am glad someone found my Origo Mare video useful then. I can see the attraction of all-inclusive for families or couples who spend their entire holidays lying by a pool, drinking and eating but that's not me. I think I drank a total of 6 zero-alcohol beers - but at least they had some which surprised me. Enjoy Corralejo Rob.

Sue says thanks. Unfortunately that implant has not worked so it has to come out next week and a bone graft inserted. More expense, pain and problems. The leak was fixed ok but AXA insurance have turned out to be crooks and won't pay for any of it. Thanks for watching Peter.

We've been there twice, last year and the year before that, we did enjoy it, hired a car and toured the island, mountains were amazing, got a speeding fine LOL no points thank goodness, agreed no parking at Playa Del Mal Nombre, don't bother with the Cafe Heidi at Playa Matorral / Morro Jable, pricey and poor quality, Must be said the island is absolutely magical, yes I could live there. Thank you for sharing JP and keep posting.

Hi! We stayed in the royal palm resort just down the road last month. The beach there was beautiful. Any other beachfront hotels with a beach that matches it in corralejo? Not too busy, no sunbeds but the odd rock to sit on?

Hey JP, lots of memories in this video, we have been to Fuerteventura 4 times,
Correlejo once about 15 year's ago and 3 times at the Fuerteventura Princess, most recently last July when we stayed in the Escencia bit too, it was refurbished over the winter, this year we stayed at the H10 Rubicon Palace in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote. It's a similar style hotel and would be a good recommendation for a quick break for Sues next treat!
Sue only gets one treat per millenium - don't want to spoil her too much. To be honest I am not too sure that paying extra for the Escencia bit was worth bothering with as I still don't know what we got that was extra apart from a different place to eat. I think they should make this bit adults only which would be worth paying a little extra for. So where to next year Steve?
@@JPinFuerteventura Agree with you about the Escencia bit, we used the main pool most of the time, and switched between the Escencia restaurant and the bottom restaurant (with the views) for breakfast.
Not sure where next year will take us yet, We were going to New York for my other half's 40th in April but had to cancel as my Dad passed away, so I'll probably have to come good on that. Got 3 days in Amsterdam in October coming up too.

I wouldn't mind having three days at Greg's - the bakers! Do you know they now sell custard slices half the width of what they used to? That's a better size for me and fewer calories to justify, although there are still a lot, of course.

It's quiet for July. I'm guessing you didn't fancy one of the big hotels in Caleta De Fuste.
It would be a cold day in Hell before I stayed in Caleta again Simon. Once, 32 years ago was enough.
We have stayed in both hotels that are next door to the Fuerteventura Princess on either side. The Jandia Princess on one side ( not that great but I think that its been done up a bit since ) and the Magic Life on the other side. The Magic Life is a brilliant hotel in every way ( if you like all-inclusive! ) and we are going there again in October. Im amazed that you even considered an all-inclusive after all that you have said about them!! A tip if you ever go again.....eat at quiet times and always outside if an option, its too noisey inside.
The thing is, if you don't go all-inclusive there then there is nowhere to eat that isn't a drive away (if you can park when you get there). We won't go all-inclusive again though. I like the evening meal to be more of an experience and to take more than 30-40 minutes. Most couples never actually eat together as they take turns going up to get food and then eat it while the other one is getting theirs. We did always eat outside on one of the terraces. It was ok for a break though. Thanks for watching and enjoy your holiday in October.

Can’t wait to come back to the Canary Islands to get away from the uk winter in November. Not looking forward to the extreme heat being forecast here in the uk. Atleast 4 days above 30c and one day forecast at 36! Thankfully not the 36 at my location however. All inclusive food makes me sick after 4 days so we are staying in an apartment this time

The shops in Morro Jable, which is the closest, are a 10 minute drive away. There is a Mercadona supermarket just along the road but that isn't quite the sort of shop you would mooch around. Thanks for watching Paul.

It would be better if you were on your own but as a couple we didn't really eat together as one ate while the other got their food and vice versa.

That was the end of June 2019. It is often breezy but that helps to stop it being too hot.
We stayed at this hotel a couple of times a few years ago. We sat in the lounge but I had to leave. The old guy playing the piano hit the wrong key every 5th or 6th note. It drove me mad.
Perhaps he was playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order
Stayed there for eight years until they got rid of the naturist complex .lovely grounds though & the hotel looks as though it has been recently refurbished
I thought it used to have a naturist area. I think it was one of the few hotels on the island that did. I believe it has been done up recently. Thanks for watching Mike.
I thought the Fuerteventura princess could use the naturist area in Jandia princess? We stay at the Jandia princess every time and always in the naturist area (which they have just renovated) and have spoken to people from next door who pop over and use the facilities. Maybe worth looking into if you stay again. If not, I'd highly recommend the Jandia princess. The naturist area is always fairly quiet, you don't struggle for a bed, the view is amazing, most of the area is grassed and they have the sauna, jacuzzi and steam rooms right next to the gated area.

Thank you Evangelia. All the beaches are naturist/clothing optional in Fuerteventura, apart from those in towns and in Caleta (which isn't really a beach anyway). I think he was playing 2 songs at once!! Sorry I just noticed that this video is 8 months old. I've also remembered that we first saw this piano player in 2004. It was a good few years later on our 2nd visit that he was still there!!!. This should have been our last day in Corralejo today. Hope this virus gets sorted soon. We will just have to look at these 4 walls for a bit longer.
