Fun fact: Vampires SHOULD be able to be reflected in modern mirrors. The reason for them not showing up in mirrors is that back in "the day," mirrors were lined with silver. Nowadays, mirrors don't have silver in them and therefore wouldn't prevent a vampire from being seen.

this is actually really interesting to think about.
there are many religious figures (such as Jesus Christ) who wear thorn crowns.
they may be hinting at The Boiled One being some sort of got or omnipotent being.
Which, would give us some sense as to why T.O.E exists. The Boiled one being a god; it may be able to bring things to its world. Like T.O.E.

@@ipissedonthemoon4066 One theory was that it is a criticism of religion, as the Boiled One is not deterred by holy texts of any kind. It is a threat to mankind that cannot be fought with words or prayed away, no matter how hard the government tells you it can be.
I'd like to point out (I'm only half way through the video at the boiled one part) that the victim claims that "it was feasting (or eating) my spine", and in the non-reversed version of the audio it claims "you will not be able to move". Without your spine, you cannot move any part of your body. So the boiled one is actually eating their spine! Cool, totally won't have nightmares tonight 🙂

Eating someone spine could mean they are making them unable to resist fear. As being spineless means easily afraid. The boiled one is able to instill fear into even the toughest of people.
@@vortdrThat’s a way to look at it because me looking at him alone is one of the only things in analog horror to actually make me squeamish. Dude may look like a pizza slice with no cheese but his height and texturing makes me outright disgusted (for good reason)

OOO is from long dashes at end and it looks like there are 3x "_ _ _ _". But if we replace "____ _____ ____" with "__ _____ ___" we get TOO instead of OOO, which matches the type of message that would be "i still see you too"

I was thinking that they've seen the tape before (they're the one who makes the comment on the victim's body later) so they turn the volume down because its a loud noise at that point

The videos are some of the most unsettling horror I've seen in a long time and then the comments sections are just people memeing. I love it.

@@brandoncraft5920 no problem, if you want to see the text for your self just put playback speed to 0.25x. Time it just right and you get a very clear view of the words but even if not the clearest you should be able to still read it.

My theory for the volume part: The person recording the tape has lowered the volume of his device to increase his chance of survival and the heartbeat is the heartbeats of the person recording the tape

Just so everyone knows, they watched the boy and the bath in the wrap up.
Another reason vampires don't show up in photos (specifically film) is because film contains silver nitride. Silver is actually the reason given for why vampires can't appear in mirrors as it is a "pure" or "holy" metal. Bc of this, some monster enthusiasts posit that they could technically appear in modern mirrors/cameras bc of the lack of silver used in their production nowadays 1:04:28

I didn’t see anyone point this out, but during the “Job” interview, right after he says he hears trumpets when he is falling asleep, it glitches and in Morse code says:

It translates to:

I noticed in the boiled one phenomenon that for a second in the beginning it said to write “I can’t see this paper. I have no hand. I can hear the laughter of thousands. I can hear the feast. I cannot move nor do I want to” which I find really interesting because it somewhat implies that the boiled one was interfering with the video from the beginning 39:15 (I had to slow it down to pause at the right moment)

For those curious, that says "息を恐れる”, which roughly translates to "scared to breathe", or "afraid of breath"

The first kanji, because it was so blurry I confused it for 息 (meaning breathe), when it should have been 鳥 (meaning bird), which makes sense in the context of the video as a whole, with the whole connection to Watanabe the Bird, so the actual translation is "afraid/scared of the bird"

The first character is bird. "Fear the Bird". It's part of the text shown later, below "Wonderful Day/The Miracle of Birth/A Fetal Fanfare":

A search for ワタナベ バード yields: Mutsuhiro Watanabe, an Imperial Japanese Army sergeant in World War II whose prisoners nicknamed him "The Bird." One of them was American track star Louis *Zamperini*.
When it shows the entity being very tall, it was paused, yet the face slowly faded in my head.

I think that the reference to Wantanabe is symbolism for how the Boiled One binds his victims and essentially tortures them, and Wantanabe follows nihilism, representing how the Boiled One stills his victims and forces them to give up and wait for the end.
And Job Zamperini is reference to Louis Zamperini, who was the one to spread word about the horrors that Wantanabe wrought.

I was originally thinking it was more surface-level like the Boiled One being the spirit of Wantanabe continuing the torture he did on others even in death, but your idea makes more sense.
@arcadepunk2628 Yeah, considering that Job Zamperini was a rather strange and specific alias to use, which matches up with Wantanabe's history, and how the Boiled One isn't exactly... Clear.
Also, I don't think one ghost of a war criminal can do ALL this, and even if he could, it would have been more obvious from the beginning and would have had to do more with what he did in life.
I think this is exactly what it is, but I believe that it's not Wantanabe's soul or something, but that this Demon is just hinting at how it treats its victims.
I also like the use of Job to add to the element that this thing is some kind of demon, as both characters are from the Christian faith, with Job being the one who had to helplessly sustain the torture of god, much like the victims having to sustain torment from instagram filter Redskull.

The names “Zamperini” and “Wantanabe” reminded me of Louis Zamperini and his story (mainly known from the movie Unbroken). I was like “oh that’s gotta be a coincidence”, but then they searched it up and made a bunch of connections to that exact story, and I immediately was so much more invested in this than I already was. It’s not at all the direction I expected this analog horror series to go

I’m surprised people haven’t caught on to what Phen-228 is referring to by “You will hear the laughter of thousands”, in the beginning videos near the end, you hear laughter. this is HIGH correlation to what Phen meant by what it said, and very much foreshadowing to what doctor nowhere is implying. As a Pennsylvanian resident myself, I can confirm that the “Tree Of Heaven” is indeed an actual thing, and recently we got an influx of bugs called “Chinese Lantern Flies” that just so happen to feed off this invasive tree.
Honestly I’m pleased to hear about stuff from my state, we’re not talked about enough despite being the keystone state :(

That was also the most unsettling part for me, because it happened inn the middle of the day. The pure idea that you aren't safe, even in your own home, in midday. It makes me feel uneasy to know that nobody is safe, even when they believe they are they aren't safe as they think they are.

A few points for anyone curious:
1. the book of Job is centered around the moral that even if you're a good, God-devoted person, you can still have the worst luck in life thrown at you on the turn of a dime. But enduring through those hardships and suffering of life will ultimately be rewarded tenfold, so long as you don't give into despair.
2. The general boiled one vibe--especially the design at 1:05:49--reminds me of the shrike/shrike tree from Hyperion, a sci fi novel with HEAVY Christian themes (especially in the sequel). I see an analog between the "locked in syndrome" here and said shrike tree, where people are in eternal agony and can't move. If the Shrike is an inspiration for this monster, that would definitely be evidence towards a more biblical explanation of what's going on.

Perhaps if I knew the full sentence I could understand, but Futanabe when translated from Katakana which is what I used above to Hiragana, it translates to two pots. Two Pots is an Aesop Fable which isn’t a biblical tale, but has a likeness to a passage in the Biblical Apocrypha, an ancient version of the bible which states that “the poor and powerless should avoid the company of the powerful.” -straight outta Wikipedia my man.

When they brought up how Phen-228 (the boiled one) can only be seen through a lens/camera, that syncs up with T.O.E. a lot too. He was only visible in the TV, and when he broke out, he never seemed to have visible parts outside of the TV screen, and when we were watching back the video when TOE was creeping through the door and the volume was being changed, that implies that TOE was only visible in the recording, and maybe the guy who got attacked by TOE didn’t even see him, that’s also probably why it made no noise and it says “The Body Appeared Untouched”

Random observation: T.O.E. presumably stands for something. At the beginning of the boiled one video, there is a mention of the "Tree of Heaven", which immediately made me think T.O.E. could be "Tree of Earth", which can refer to the mythical "World Tree". Another possibility is "Tree of Eden", which would lead to a connection with the forbidden fruit or forbidden knowledge. Another thing of note is that "Tree of Heaven" is the name of an actual plant, and that plant is classified as an invasive species.
But hey, that's just a theory.
