  • In this video I detail and demostrate how I attached the pickguard material to the headstock as a veneer (similar aesthetic to National and Gretsch guitars). I also detail the planning and routing for the attachment of a Fender Dynamic Vibrato system to the Squier Bullet Mustang. I also show how to drill for and install two-pin fender locking tuners.

    Thank you, I'm planning to mod my bullet mustang, didn't research enough when i bought it so I didn't know that the body was thinner than VM or a Fender. I was worried when people told me you cant put that retro styled trem on a bullet. But then I found you, thanks man you gave hope :) great video!

      Thank you! Glad you found it helpful. I made the series of videos in part to disprove the naysayers, whether it be using Montana spray paint or the trem.

    This is brilliant! I have been planning on adding a Mustang Trem to my Squier Bullet. I worked out it was possible to do. Thanks for this!

      I hope it helps. I loved doing it, the planning of the project specifically, and wanted to prove it could be done. Enjoy!

    I noticed an unnecessary operation on the vibrato. The undremelted parts extend a maximum of 29mm into the instrument body, the electronics factory cavity is 30mm deep! It is quite possible to route it to the required depth, there is enough space.

      You are probably right. But I wanted to leave a little more wood on the body. Was getting worryingly thin. Or at least I think that is what I did, it was a year ago I did this.

    Hello, man. Nice mods and nice videos. Thank very much to share this project with us. Can you tell us which bridge did you use? I believe we can't use the original Fender Mustang one because of the different fingerboard ratio. I am planning in install a vibrato on mine and did not want to buy parts that did not fit the guitar. But once again, thank you very much for document the whole process and to share with us.

      Hey, thank you! I fretted about this issue for some time but after significant research found that it didn't matter. The neck radius (squier is flatter 12" vs 9.5") is different. But of course, each bridge piece is adjustable. I just used a cheap neck radius gauge to set each string height on the bridge pieces. Worked great for me. This guitar has really low action.

    Where did you get the routing pattern? I’m looking to do the same thing with my bullet, and I’m very nervous about cutting everything and it being perfectly lined up.

    • @tristansturm9241
      @tristansturm9241  Před rokem +1

      Hi, thank you for the interest. I used a top bearing router bit. It means you have to cut the first depth pass with a jig to get deep enough for the bearing to catch on the lip of the hole. This part is fraught. Good luck!

      @@tristansturm9241 excellent! I’m not the most mechanically inclined person, what size bit was used? Can a palm router be just as effective as a jig? Thanks!

    • @tristansturm9241
      @tristansturm9241  Před rokem

      A half inch width shank, you'll want a short length. You will need to clamp a straight board as a jig for the first pass with the palm router. See in video. After that, the bearing will keep you right.

    How did you get the string action to be at a normal height? I upgraded my bullet mustang using this same trem system and now the action is even higher than an acoustic!

      Hi, trem without the Fender Vibrato symbol on eBay (£10). The trem with the logo (ie actual fender trem product) from reverb.com. they sell them there, distributed from the east coast of USA.
