Re tr😢the drey
Only just watched this back from start to finish. Thank you everyone for the incredibly generous and heart felt messages.
Thank you for your strength and resilience, I hope this interview gives power to others in similar situations and encourages them to speak their truth in the hopes that in the future children in all environments can be protected. 💙
Wow Ian, this is a really powerful interview - your words about what the brain holds onto and how it shuts down etc, just yes. I’m really glad you are healthier and happier 😊
Amazing fella, I hope anyone suffering any abuse can take strength from your open and positive attitude to speak out.
This interview can't have been easy, Ian. It'll help raise even more awareness of a huge issue. Thank you so so much
@ianackley9516 Hopefully there is robust overview of others in football. Pedos look for loopholes how they can circumvent restrictions. classes need to be given in how to feel comfortable enough to say something straight away. .
15 months for ruining a child's life, absolutely disgusting
They apparently don't give long sentences to anyone in the uk. I've noticed of the thousands of cases I've read or watched that almost zero get life. Even extremely short sentences for murder.
So strong to talk about these things, I can't even imagine what he's been through.
Very tough for men to talk about this kind of abuse.
This is possibly the bravest man I’ve ever seen, to be able to talk about this and hold it together is incredible.
what a brave man. very difficult I imagine to retell the abuse that he suffered
Thank you, Ian, you are an inspiration to me as a father to ensure my boys are always kept safe from these vile people. I only wish your Dad had made you comfortable enough to have said something straight away. You have made something so positive out of a negative, and you stepping forward will help so many, in was we will never know.
I will forever be proud of this man for this, as a survivor myself of sexual abuse, it takes real bravery to talk like this.
As a man. It's more difficult. It's hard for women, but men tend to not talk about their issues. I hope it gets changed in the future.
Hats off to this man for talking openly and honestly about what he went through , it’s not easy to relive some of your most traumatic memories , many young boys watch CZcams and if they see this and are in the same situation hopefully it helps them also open up to someone and know they are not alone ♥️
Such an articulate and brave interview Ian,I grew up in the same area at the same time and crossed paths with Bunnel so I know how manipulative he was ,he befriended my family ,my dad thought he was the bee's knees but luckily enough my mum saw right through him .
Im open about the fact i was sexually abused, im not ashamed about it. However, i cannot imagine talking so openly about the acts themselves, i just cant bring myself to. Ive been with my husband since i was 14 (1993) & im 44 now & he knows everything about me, yet ive never even told the details of my abuse to him. The thought of talking details makes bile rise in my throat & gives me mouth sweats. I commend him on being so open about his abuse, I couldnt.
Therapy is the best answer for this. I had the exact same thoughts, sharing details of what happened is very hard but it CAN be done, I promise. Therapy has helped me incredibly, if you do go this route (I hope you do) you'll find your strength and peace. I wish you the best
@pilarcastaneda2355 I was also abused as a child and have been in consistent therapy since I was 17. I'm 21 now and can genuinely say that although my time in therapy is short in the grand scheme of things, it has forever changed me in the most positive way, giving me a proper framework to manage my life. It's never too late for things to get better x
@@pilarcastaneda2355 I did get therapy for a while back when I was about 23 after a REALLY good suicide attempt (not bcoz of the abuse but that def played a part in it). I guess I'm at the stage in life now where I'm kinda past it. I mean I know it's def 100% changed who I am is a person (I often wonder how diff I would be if I hadn't been SA) but it's not something that bothers me like it used it. I've accepted that it's a part of me, a part of who I am & my life experience & I've accepted - after many many years - that there's no shame attached to it anymore & that I'm 100% NOT at fault. I still wouldn't go into details tho lol. I have before with professionals but I just don't feel the need to hash it all up anymore, if that makes sense? It's not something I think about really, unless something brings it up like something on tv for example.
Therapy isn't my thing, never has been, but it's absolutely the best thing for some people & some situations. I did get intense therapy after finding a friend's 16 yr old niece hanging. That was EXTREMELY traumatic & I couldn't sleep for months. Imo therapy is a MUST in those kinda situations, but it's not for everyone.
Thanks for the reply tho you 2, it's appreciated xxx
You should NEVER feel ashamed! Its not your burden to carry. You were completely innocent. I am so sorry this happened to you. Maybe one day a good therapist can help you unpack it all, so it feels a bit lighter. (If you have a bad experience with 1 therapist, thats ok, it may not be the right fit. Try to look for someone specialised in this area of abuse.) Wishing you all the joy and happiness this world can offer- you deserve it!
No child should ever experience this 🥺
Man City should pay this guy the compensation he deserves. They got around it with legal jargon in court, but if they had any class, with their wealth, they would just give this guy half a million. The fact they don't shows the type of owners they really have.
Man City used Barry Bennell as a star witness in court to gaslight his victims.
Horrible club.
I am grateful it’s come full circle for him. Now helping to break the cycle of abuse. God bless him 🙏
Very strong to talk openly about this. I often fantasize about talking to my loved ones about my abuse from 6-8, i just can't bring myself to tell them about it.
Man, that‘s a terrible situation to be in! Maybe you could first open up to someone who isn’t a family member? Maybe a mental health professional could even help you in preparing yourself to tell them (if that is what you want to do)? I hope you‘ll someday find a way to open up and that you will be met with nothing but love and support♥️
an absolute inspiration to all men that have experienced anything similar
TY Ian!!! I was in your shoes myself. What you said about "going back" was so spot on!! I've never had any counseling, at this point I don't think it would help....it was a LONG time ago....and I've learned to deal with it in my own way I guess. I'm still pissed about it but it isn't going to stop me from living my life. Good for you for sticking up for the 13 year old. It's a hard thing to do and it's also the right thing! You are blessed!!
I followed this case. My brother as an 11 year old went to NewZealand and Thailand on a football trip organised by the bloke in discussion.
Fortunately my brother wasn’t touched, but in later years it came to light some of his friends were.
There is a local fella who was a professional playing for some top flight teams and even England who was victim to this nonce.
Terrible undertakings
What a remarkable man, strong, wise, empathetic just incredible. Wish you nothing but the best and thank you for using your pain to care for others ❤
So heartbreaking what this brave man went through.
Bless you and thank you for sharing I wish that more men would speak up about SA so these sick men get caught and stopped
I can't imagine what his parents felt when he finally came forward with his story
I saw the numbers scrolling up and I covered my mouth in shock and horror. So many lives tarnished simply for having talent. I wish you nothing but the best, Mr. Ackley, for standing up against this.
We’ll done Ian for talking about this. What a well spoken, intelligent, positive and brave man you are.
He coached me and my team Hanslope Hornets back in the early to mid 2000’s.
Baz was a great coach, everyone looked up to him however there soon became warning signs.
It’s crazy to see everything that came out about him and how he was even allowed to be near us young lads?!
He used to drive a blue Mondeo and live in Milton Keynes. Scumbag.
So sorry you went through this brother. 🙏🏾
Amazing man -what a difference his bravery made
Ian’s amazing. What he did took superhuman strength.
What an amazing man you are Ian to be so brave and talk about this - you come across so emotionally intelligent and strong, inspirational ❤
We appreciate videos like this. They're all insightful.
It’s called fight, flight, or freeze! To me anyway. Bless you, thank you for your story.
I am so grateful that he was willing to share his experience. As a parent, you truly trust the trainers. I can’t imagine how this can happen and how difficult it must be to have experienced this. You feel like you have no one to trust or to talk to. My heart is broken. I pray that at least my son will come to me- any of his friends/teammates will know to come to me.
really sorry to hear this honestly its crazy how much off this went on back in the day. there is a football team in scotland right now with 7 convicted former managers and not a single inquiry has been done because it has been swept under the carpet. the victims deserve more. spotlight is the name of the facebook group exposing all off this. there is current court cases live dating back through 50 years of it. there was links also from scotland to england even to trips on the usa. good luck to all survivors in future endevours
Brave man, thanks for having the courage to recall this and share. Had it been me, I’d likely be sitting in jail for Murder 1 getting revenge on this creep.
Thank you Ian for sharing your story.
Thank you so much for speaking out
As a huge football fan... I feel really naive. Had no clue this type of abuse had permeated this sport as well. How horrible.
Thank you for sharing your story.
Stay safe, be strong and be happy.
All the best for your future.
Those who harm children in any way are not to be thought of.
This guy is so eloquent and smart, I’m glad he escaped that situation and seems to be doing great😭
Brave brave man. God bless you mate
Not only did he steal your innocence, he stole your football career and your youth. If he were in prison in America, he'd suffer what you suffered again and again.
Well done for speaking out, very courageous. God will avenge the wicked 🔥
Wow look at his great statement at the end that you cant always control your life’s destiny that takes deep understanding so many people are not able to live with it and he has his a strong character wish him the best
Thank you very inspiring interview for those still living w memories of s.a.Very hard thing to come forward when not invited by the justice system.Have a beautiful life🌎☮️🙏💜💜💜🍀🍀🍀🙏💜💜💜
This is one of the strongest men I have ever seen before in my life!!!
He abused around 1000 kids only 746 came forward 😢
What a hero you are! I’m sorry for your experience.
This goes deeper than anyone would imagine… a lot of payoffs for silence allegedly
Respect to you mate, this makes me sad to listen to.
What a brace and articulate man!
Remember watching the tv series about Andy Woodward who had the same abuser and so sad how many talented players he abused
Not to pile on this lad's parents, but........WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F????? I am flabbergasted that they seemed like they weren't even in the picture whatsoever. It's the parents duty to be as vigilant, proactive, and involved in their children's lives that this should never happen.
This is a very hopeful story for any victims out there. Your life isn’t over after abuse, you can get your life back. There is no need to feel ashamed, you did nothing wrong.
I'm guessing there is a statute of limitation but still what a travesty of a justice system to only give this garbage of a human being only 34 years for 1000+ victims. He severely impacted these kids for life, so he too should have been given life in prison.
They shouldn't be allowed to live. Death penalty.
Thankfully the statute of limitations doesn’t exist in UK except for areas of law such in contract law which means that he could still go to prison for it.
Such a brave guy, so sorry for what you’ve lost!
I went for trails for northwest Derbyshire for Benal the horrible bastard never got picked and I thank my lucky stars, good luck in all you do mate hope your all good
I'm glad you avoided his evil clutches.
What a brave man!
Wish your parents were more strict. Very brave man ❤❤❤
What a brave guy.
On 10 January 2022, the High Court said the connection between the abuse and Bennell's relationship with City was "insufficient to give rise to vicarious liability" and ruled that City could not be held legally responsible for Bennell's acts of abuse.
What a brave man.
He changed the course of so many lives. Robbed them of opportunities, thier futures and broke thier hearts beyond repair
Only 34 years. Wow. Sorry this happened to you and others. Absolutely let down by everyone.
What an amazing guy
These people are allowed to thrive , should be life imprisonment.
Kit carson done the exact same in the south of the country typical abuse of power we see all to often
Man so damn sad! 741!
Hope the coach gets some prison justice
This vile man had to have his tongue removed. Couldn't have happened to a nice guy.
Brave man 🙏
Boys can be abused. Young men can be abused. Adult men can be abused. This is something that happens and they deserve justice. This just sickens me this man was able to get such a light sentence after traumatizing these young men this way.
So brave.
So many idiots in the comments using this as a trigger to get into petty club rivalries. Grow up.
Wow. It's almost unbelievable how low some people will stoop when they're hiding behind a screen.
Why do you put Man City in the title he was also a coach at Celtic and Crewe Alexandra? Anyway hope these men found peace now
City's North West rep.
I still think the same happened to gary speed
Are there talks in schools nowadays which tell kids that things like this aren’t their fault and they can speak out? I really hope so
I honestly don't think so... But having a talk like that should absolutely be in the curriculum
It is part of the curriculum in the US. But, these predators prey on the most vulnerable. It helps but a portion of parents think they’re “giving ideas” to the kids.
wow....
Already been found in court that Benel wasn’t an employee of the club.
I’m sure Man City will be getting in touch legally
Probably just an attempt to smear city. Although what happened to this man is awful ...
Doing bits those City lawyers. Maybe you should make a banner for them?
And even though he wasn't these men were given compensation by the club Uni Lad scraping bottom of barrel here.
@@yatesy117
They were dragged through the courts by City and had to endure being gaslit in court by City's star witness Barry Bennell.
He was City's North West Representative.
City knew just like how Jock Stein knew.
released this video right after City beat Everton at Goodison Park 🤔🤔
37 nil? just like the old rowan atkinson sketch ey?
Brave guy.
Celtic FC have managed to avoid justice for decades now. Time for justice.
proper horrible the way thats been handled. trying to claim to be a different club from the youth team to deny and deflect. not giving the victims justice. they should be finished imo no club with that history should be alive and running in this day and age
❤❤❤
Part 2? This poor woman….
you mean man
What a surprise its city
Arteta is just trying anything now!
Turn it in lad ye weapon

@hmorttt seems a bit untasteful mate if am honest
@scott2222 I'd have to agree with ya mate. Maybe not the best time to be making a joke. I still thought it was funny
@@hyywe240 can you delete your comment, please. It’s a kick in the teeth to those who suffered the abuse of that vile creature. Have a little empathy.

Couldn't you just said Barry Bennel? Why using Man City in the title for clout? 😂😂
Pretty disgusting isn't it Uni Lad scraped bottom of the barrel here he coached at many clubs why put City in the title?
Because Barry Bennell was City's North-West rep.
