    I just had this done to my yard today and am watching this video for emotional support. "Trust the process, you say...." OK, I'm going to try! Thank you for including the daily progress videos, it really helps.

      Give it about 12 to 18 days for full recovery. That will change based on how hot it gets.

    Should you aerate first? Awesome yard by the way!

    When you did your sand after you put your pool in (new sod), how long did you wait to do the leveling? Mine is only 1 month out, but it's driving me crazy

    • @TheALG
      @TheALG  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I did light sanding about 1 month in the growing season. The key is to go light

    do you know how long after seeding can I 100% smother it with sand? I seeded Monaco early may. I basically have a full lawn already, of course I have weak areas but the biggest bare spot is less than a foot circle. This stuff is tough, I thought parts were dead from lack of water but they came back 100% lol Monaco looks like a hybrid and super dark green

      1 full growing season. Since you're dealing with warm season turf and leveling should only be done in late spring to late summer, I would wait till next year in your case. It's not worth taking the chance to do this to newly seeded turf.

    I'm still confused why you don't fertilize before you put the sand down. Does it make a difference?

    • @TheALG
      @TheALG  Před měsícem

      My reasoning is because to minimize movement of the fertilizer. Putting it down first before then putting the sand down and using the leveling rake will not only make the sand move but also the fertilizer. Even if you water it in the day before, there will always be some granular particles left behind. This is just from my personal experience but whichever way you decide won't make a huge difference, just a minor difference.

    New subscriber and new home buyer, wanted to know if I can buy any Bermuda grass seed to fill in my not growing lawn. 1/2 if the yard is not growing. The builder had sod placed but 1/2 grew and 1/2 didn’t. All I see is mushroom, moss and very wet moisture. They told me to fix it will cost 10 grand. (Hell no!). I bought La prima Bermuda seeds and royal txd bermuda seeds. Even paid $1000 to someone who said he could fix it but still nothing. Any tips? I am getting tired, never knew taking care of a lawn can be so damn draining. I am watching so many you tube videos about lawn care and learning quite a few things.

    • @TheALG
      @TheALG  Před 3 měsíci

      You typically don't need to seed bermuda because bermuda is self repairing. You need 3 things to happen for bermuda to thrive. It needs 7 to 8 hours of sun, heat, and good drainage. Sounds like you may need to look into the drainage situation. If you see puddles of water that stay for a long time after it rains and if it stays wet for over 24 hours after the rain has ended, then you have bad drainage. Maybe something to do with the grading of your land or your neighbors may be higher than you. If you just seed without solving what is causing your grass to not come back, it will keep happening.

    Should we treat for weeds 1st or does that matter?

    Wouldn’t fertilizing first be more efficient?

    • @TheALG
      @TheALG  Před 3 měsíci +1

      My only concern with that is if I have to move the sand around, some of the fertilizer may also move when I am using the leveling rake.

      Try Q4 but you will need a sprayer. If thats not for you, try homeowner grade ortho weed b gon hose end. Read the directions carefully.
