      @@theit-unicorn1873 In the grub edit menu, at the line starting with Linux, append the string " single" or " s" or " 1" at the end of the command line. That will boot the machine in single user mode and that means you are Mr. Root. Been a long time since I used this, maybe your method is the way to go now?

      And it looks like that is outdated... RHEL 8 uses a similar method to yours. But not the same. I just googled a couple of ways to reset the root password, but it boils down to booting into single user mode like you did :-).
