I think Windows Backup wants you to use your Microsoft Account. It does in version 10.0.22621.

Ya, go to Linux. But, Linux will not install on some PCs like mine. I tried four times with different USBs and reload of the ISOs, and it still won't install. After much advice from well-meaning Linux forum experts, it still won't install. So, I went back to the good ole Media Creation Tool and Windows 10 installed perfectly. Buying a new laptop for we who live in a Third World Country, buying a new PC is not an option. There are people in the world who are not as rich as Microsoft, America, or certain IT guys. So, the Windows for unsupported hardware sounds like an option to me. Meh!

This did not unlock the microsoft account at all. It just creates an account. So really all software installed in the microsoft account is not accessible. As you can see utilman is the best way. We dont need to buy your USB.

Honestly, now is a great time to learn linux, with so many flavors intended to be user-friendly and easy to use linux is in a far better place now than it was even a mere 5 years ago. Yes linux does have its caveats, but it beats creating more e-waste.

All of the windows PoS (point of sale) sytemsI know uses ltsb/ltsc and in fact, I consider it better than standard/oem/pro Win10 as it's lighter, don't install new bloatware and spyware without asking. I think, everything which is removed in this version is in fact unwanted software.

i really hope that something will be done to save all those perfectly decent machines from going to the landfill - like people in every location hoovering them up, installing linux and selling then off for a fair price to those that cant afford to throw money at MS

baffles me how they can get aways with it - so they offer extended support for a price, that means they are still doing the work but they just want to bill you. I have 3 machines - two can run windows 11, which i will do even though i find it a downgrade ... the third is a perfectly decent old dell 7010 that runs great - that would be for the tip thanks to MS. But. i have just loaded Linux Mint onto it and find it great ... plus i will look into that 0patch, which will allow me to still run windows 10 for those things i need to for. Linux can handle 90% of my requirements. So, thanks for the heads up - I think I have a strategy now

Excellent video! I've been trying to figure out how to add a custom OS that isn't listed in the PINN OS selection. Would love to add FydeOS and/or OpenFyde to the mix. I suppose that would have to be added to a 'ProjectSpace' partition somehow. If you manage to figure it out / make a video that would be amaaaaaaaaaazing :) Until then, I'll keep trying. Security updates are mostly just Windows Defender virus and malware scanner updates. Using third-party virus and malware scanners will fill this void. The risk is mostly fear mongering from Microsoft pressuring people to pony up for Windows 11.

I upgraded to 11 like a month ago and I was very surprised how painless the process was. I think i clicked like 2 buttons and did a restart. That's literally it. I always put off upgrading windows until they force me because historically I have hated the process. This has not been the case with windows 11 at all and I am kind of kicking myself for not taking the plunge 2-3 years ago. I love windows 10 just like I loved 7 before it but if I'm being honest 11 is just plain better in every way.

I switched my laptop to Zorin OS to start using Linux for when the time comes, I will see... I might change to Pop OS or other distro, we'll see... for now I'm getting my feet wet in Zorin OS. The laptop had previously running Windows 11 for the same reason, but Zorin feels way faster and smoother than Win 11. Windows 11 was sluggish in comparison. My main PC still runs Windows 10.

As my computer will not support windows 11. I guess my only option will be Linux.

I'm on Linux Mint and Ubuntu for systems I do anything sensitive on. I have two systems running Windows 10 - one mini pc that I use to run retrobat, and another one for modern gaming. The former doesn't need to go online, so I'm fine if it doesn't get updated. For the latter, I'll need to see where the gaming industry goes.

The linux twits need to sit down. Linux for gaming, is just as bad as intel video is for gaming. Since windows 11 fails to support any dedicated sound cards i care about, ive not been interested even halfway at all. The requirement to run 11 was a defining point _against_ any of the hybrid core cpus from amd and intel for me.

I tried windows 11 for a year and went back to 10. I'm much happier with 10.

Until widows has a zero user interaction hack that can't be blocked by any means that allows code execution people will stay on 10. The wifi hack that floated around a few weeks ago, would be about the class of exploit. Although turning off wifi or not having it was a work around. Almost no one will switch to Linux, trading a potential security issue for the nightmare of trying to get Linux to do what you want is not a sales point. People will switch to some version of 11 before Linux. Maybe a 3rd party butcher job on 11 will make it useable.

The biggest problem is that many (many 100,000s of them) computers that run fine windows 10, and could run windows 11 great. Are unable to upgrade to windows 11 because of arbitrary cpu and TCP requirements. This will force many with functioning computers either throw them away or run them unsupported. This is a horrible example of Microsoft greed.
