For 2020/2021 models, plug into the INJ fuse in the engine bay fuse box.
Compatible with 2014-2019 TRD Pro, SR5, Trail, TRD Off-Road and Limited models
Compatible with 2020-2021 4Runners that are equipped with the TRD Pro Grille.
I forgot to mention. The first step of installation is to pry off the plastic clips under the hood. BE SURE TO PUSH DOWN ON THE CENTER BUTTON OF THE CLIPS BEFORE PRYING THE CLIPS OFF WITH A SCREWDRIVER.
Holy crap this tutorial was tough to watch 🤣 I lost it with the damn ground wire laying over the e brake
Do not use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the plastic clips. All you need to do is push the center of them down. Once you take them out you can reset them and put them back.
Christopher O'Connor You’re EXACTLY right. I tried editing the video later because I forgot to mention that and now I can’t figure it out. Thanks for clarifying.
@@4runnerlifestyle No worries. Just wanted to make sure anyone else who watched save themselves from potentially breaking some clips. Good video, and good looking rig.
Just ordered the lights and watched the video. Thanks a ton for the tip!
Yep. Broke the first one and then realized how simple it was with the second one and the rest lol. Made it so complicated when it was in fact super easy.
How do you reset them? Probably a dumb question but I thought I was resetting it but just twirls and is loose when I put it back in. Compared to what it was before of not moving at all.
God bless these guys for creating a website, channel, and content just for 4Runners. Really makes everything so easy to shop for since it’s a one stop shop for everything for 4Runners only. Just ordered these and can’t wait to wire them up.
Well that sucks, but I’m glad it wasn’t only me. My mechanic took care of it but it shouldn’t have happens in the first place.
You must work here.
I enjoyed the video and the installation but one hick up I had is the length of the wiring. The wire I received was not long enough to go through the firewall so I needed to make alternate connections. I went ahead and connected the power wire directly into the fuse box, in the INJ slot and it works just the same. Works just the same, easier and faster.
I wish all tutorial videos were as clear and comprehensive as this one. Phenomenal job.
Pretty cool!!!. I bought my first 4runner yesterday and will be watching your videos to learn about mods and fixes. Happy thanksgiving.
Amazing product! This video makes it so easy to install! Recommended 100%
Installed mine this morning. Real easy mod that really improves the looks of the rig
hi, Jeremy, we are looking for someone to test our products: 4runner red grill lights, it's free, are you interest?
Cheng Tina I’ll test them
Good video! Just ordered the set of 3
out of all the videos for doing this.. this one, I really like. Thank you
Our pleasure!
thank you - followed your directions.
Easy install. Why not make the wiring harness long for the furthest light and short for each subsequent light, as you get closer to the drivers side? Less wire mess by the radiator.
Also could ground at the body near the battery then just run the positive inside. One less wire to deal with inside
That's what I'm saying
@@se7515this is not possible in the 2022 and later models, the fuse box outside wont close
In this setup, are these lights always on when starting the vehicle up? I was thinking that I'd see a switch for these lights.
I just bought a 2020 4runner but the front grid where this lights fits is not the same as the shown in the video. Is there other models for different grids??
Now I am even more pumped to get a 4runner
Bro same , I was so close to picking up a grand Cherokee but torn with the mixed reviews. Now I’m determined to save a little bit more for a 2015 sr5 4Runner with 4x4. It’s an investment towards a very reliable and sweet looking vehicle
@@santiago_6280 I’m loving it so far 👍🏼
Can you remake this video for the 20-21 Trd pros? The black wire in the kit I received has a gold connector on the end/ is not the same as the video. Instructions are lacking
On my 2020 trd off road. I connected to the 10a marked as tail to the left of the 7.5a DCM. Should be left column. Closest to you/the top. It runs off the switch. When you are in lights on or the setting right below.
Informative good to know all about this, i want to install this raptor lights also on 4Runner.
New friend .
installed mines from 4R lifestyle.. love em'.. Qs: what size circuit fuse tap did the lights come with? mini, micro 2, standard or low prifile? just want to know for future..
I have a 2018 limited model...can I do this still or no? I looked from in the hood and don’t have the same hole and inside the fuse box is covered
Can the Tacoma be wired this way
Or does it have be wired under hood like
Most videos show? Thanks
Hi, would they fit a 2021 4Runner? Or do I need something different? I went a bought some on Amazon and I just couldn’t install them they were loose and flimsy they were called seven Sparta 4 PCS LED.
I saw some install videos where the wiring was connected to the fuse box located in the engine bay. Is there a difference between installing in the engine bay and installing in the driver side fusebox?
Is there a way to wire directly into the fuse box or use a positap so you don’t have to have that fuse splitter thing?
Does this kit come with everything I need to install these lights AND operate them off of a switch installed on the dash to manually control then?
Ya you don’t need a flat head screw driver to pry off those plastic pieces in the beginning. It’s just a button you need to push. I broke 2 of em trying to pry them out with a flat head like you said
You should do an install video on the 3 light kit, as the wire provided is not long enough to get through the fire wall and you have to use the fuse box in the engine bay. I had to follow instructions on the R4T install and shorted something because my 4Runner wouldn’t come out of park and my ABS, battery and traction control lights all came on. All the fuses I checked seemed ok and driving home everything freaked out and shut off. Currently waiting on a tow truck. No fun.
Yo that happened to me too when I originally installed in the under the hood fuse box. It just completely shut off and brakes didn’t work or anything on the highway. Luckily it wasn’t rush hour and I had to push the brake hard as I can to slow down a little till I rolled to a stop. I had it towed to the dealership and they said it was the fuse that was put in was not good on these aftermarket parts. I bought the 4 lights and wired it in the cabin drivers side fuse box and I’ve had no problems since in the cabin you use a slot that didn’t have an existing fuse already. Other instal videos said take the inj fuse and put it into the add a fuse they provide under the hood which is what made things mess up.
Very Cool, but I always wished I had those style in roof lights.
Yall should make more videos!!
Do not use a screwdriver to remove the plastic clips as explained in the video, just push down the button on the center of the clips and pull them up!
For 2020/2021 4Runners plug into the INJ fuse in the engine bay.
i had the low profile fuse they give me the mini fuse tap I can’t put my fuse into a fuse tap so do i have to get the mini fuse to replace the fuse that i had?
how do you put the clips back in?
2021 SR5 and in the INJ fuse of the engine fuse box, the fuse box cover now does not close. Please advise.
@@dlumlung use a dremel tool to create a slot for the wire in the lip of the fuse box. Then match the slot on the cover. Protect wire from chafe with some electrical tape or preferably cloth automotive tape. They should advise using a grommet in the firewall hole also. Grounded sparky wires no bueno.
Wish I would've read this comment before finishing running the cable and crimping the fuse to the line 😫
Hi what do.you call that piece that you attached to the black wire and that fuse with the red wire thanks
Can you guys update video or instructions (didn't get any of those in my box) for a 2022 TRD Pro? I found another video that wired it to the fuse box under the hood but the add-a-fuse connector sits almost an inch proud of the fuse itself and fuse box cover will not fit back on. The other video I found was for a 2020 and I guess the 2022 has a more 'fitted' fuse box cover
Can you share the video you are referencing in your post? I have a 2022 TRD 4Runner. I installed then on the tail light fuse, lights new raptor lights came on but I loose my tail light and parking lights. I don’t know how to make all lights ( raptor lights, parking lights, tail lights) work together. Any ideas?
I believe it's more feng shui to plug the Double Fuse Tap into the "tail light" fuse slot. This way the raptor lights will automatically sync with the exterior lights rather than the ignition switch.
Where is the tail light fuse slot/ what is it called
@@bswen600 It's called "Tail" located bottom left in the panel under the drivers dash next to the ebrake
Does the taillight come on During the Day to make the raptor lights turn on ??? Or does it need to be turned on with Lower beam light?
@First Last they'll stay off during the day, therefore, the first setting that will turn them on will be the yellow parking lights
@@byronpitulski766 great to know. Does the fuse box under the hood have a tail fuse ?
I don’t have a 4 runner but I have a 2015 TRD Sport Tacoma will it work there ?
Hi thanks for the video bte what's the amp's on the fuse
Anyway to hook them up only when the lights are on auto or full on? Then when lights are in the off position they are off as well. Thank you.
Just clip them to the head lights cables. That's what I'm planning to do on my Ranger.
Why does my setup have a fuse on the line? I bought the lower 4 raptor light and the cable came with a fuse connected to it. Plus two fuses for the fuse box… can you please tell me how to set this up? Do I cut out that 15amp fuse out of the main power cable? Or use two 10 amp fuses with the 15amp inline fuse.
Hey! That's strange, The easiest thing is to email sales@4runnerlifestyle.com And we can get that taken care of for you.
!!!This is very important and should be checked in your state prior to purchase!!!
It is illegal to have the off road raptor lights turned on while driving on state roads especially with the LED white modifications. I just got pulled over in PA(worst state ever) and he said they must be turned off when you're driving on the road unless they're manufacturer installed.
I live in PA (outside of Philly) and never knew this. Do you have an actual reference from the PA DOT or DMV? I have amber raptor lights in both my 4Runner and Tacoma grills.
Hey bro have you had any problems with how you connected you lights?
I bought a set similar to these lights, do these come with all of the electrical connections included? If not, what sizes/gauges do you need to buy?
It does come with all the necessary hard ware
I have the 2021 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium w/ KDSS. There are only 3 open circuit breaker slots open and only one of them fits the wire that comes from 4Runner Lifestyle. That specific breaker opening works but does not power down when I turn off my accessories, turn off lights, lock my doors, etc ... The Raptor Lights stay on. Any guidance or support would be greatly appreciated.
For the newer 4runners you have to put the add a fuse in the tail position of the fuse box.
Thanks
New to the 4 runner game. I have the trd off road premium grille with the Yota badge would I need to swap grilles?
Do these clip-in style lights work (clip-in) on the OEM upgrade grill? I have a 2017 SR5 and want to upgrade my grill ty o have the lights but i don't want to spend $600 for a grill upgrade to then find out that these lights won't fit. Anyone know?
Should fit the SR5 grille just fine. But only on top. The bottom grille holes are bigger.
How would you install these different if you want them to come on with your headlight amber lights or foglights?
I'm interested in knowing the same.
Which fuse should be used to get the lights to turn on with headlights?
does the black wire is the ground or negative? trying to figure this with a switch and a relay. Are there any videos with the same lights installed it with a switch and a relay?
We don't have another video showing this but the black wire is indeed a negative.
Got a question here, do they really add usable light or they are just for the cool look? Any idea of the lumens?
They are just marking lights. They don’t throw enough light to add any forward visibility
The real mvp
The positive wire connection you did not mentioned the connector ...
Pretty cool product, but I was shorted a fuse. Reached out via email and never got a reply, searched for a phone number, couldn't find one.
So I just assumed it only took one fuse, when lights didn't initially work, I troubleshot everything,to no avail. Went to my local O'Reillys and bought another 10 Amp, worked right off the bat. Thanks for the product, but need to work on communication.
Love your page. Do you know if it’s possible to find a fake hood scoop I can put on my 4Runner sr5 since it didn’t come with one?
The only way we know of is to find one off a lot or from another 4runner that is either the same color or have it paint matched.
We so sell carbon fiber hoods that have the scoop as well www.4runnerlifestyle.com/products/seibon-4runner-carbon-fiber-tr-style-hood-2010-2021?_pos=4&_sid=e22d38b71&_ss=r
Just installed mine. Looks nice and all, but the lights don’t turn off. Any issue with that?
Did you ever figure out how to turn them off I have the same problem right now?
How do i ad it so they will come on with DRL?
can't get my lights to come on, my fuse box is pretty full. my fusees are a little different order. Are you plugging into a blank fuse panel?
Yes, that can happen, we are going to an open position or at least one that doesnt already have an add a fuse. A way to fix this issue is with a control panel like an SPOD or an Auxbeam. They help organize all the wiring and make it more streamlined when adding so many lights

Do headlights have be on or will the raptor lights work with just the daytime running lights on as an option
No... if you put the fuse connector in the fuse socket shown it will illuminate when the ignition key is turned on.
@@synth505 so essentially its always of the car is on?
@@PocketManga yes... if ignition is on, lights are on
Why do you bypass the fuse box under the hood and use the one in the cab? I seen videos of it done both ways. Is there an advantage to one over the other?
I tried both options for my 18 sr5. Under the hood works for me but after a week my battery died. With this option my lights stayed on every time the truck is on.
I’ve tried connected inside the vehicle under steering column as shown in video but does not work for me.....not sure why.
By hooking the wire under the driver cab does that ensure battery will not be drained? Or should I install a switch?
Inside the cab. The first 10amp will say tail lights. If you use that one. Then you have some control . They wont turn on unless you select your front amber side marker lights. This way if you wanted to . You can run with them off or on with your front side markers. Basically working like a switch
@@flipmode9236 I did this on my 2021 and worked perfectly
@@jeremylusher1316 what fuse spot
did you use? my 2021 under dash fuse box doesn’t look like the one in this video. I only have one empty fuse spot and when I plug it in there, the lights stay on no matter what.
While wiring the raptor lights on newer 4runners use "tails postion" the raptor with work with parking lights head light high beams but not drls not abig issue
Did u take out the fuse that was in the tails position?
@@houselannister3871 yeah and put the extra fuse in you Engine bay fuse box, they will turn on with parking lights and low beams
What trim model is this 4Runner?
Wire them with an add a fuse to the box under the hood, way quicker and easier
So I didn’t go through the firewall, instead went directly into the fuse box under the hood. I’ve found two configurations. One will turn the raptor lights on only when the headlights are on. The second configuration will turn the raptor lights on whenever the engine starts. Looks like the configuration in this video turns them on with the headlights too… I think I like having them on without the headlights as an option- just thought I’d throw out that thought if anyone is interested
What fuse did you use for on without the headlights?
I have a 2020 and my fuse box looks nothing like the one in the video, where should I plug it in?
Would be nice if they updated the instructions for newer 4Runners. The harness they provided doesn’t just fit into the INJ slot like the updated “instructions” do below.
John we recommend for any newer 4Runner to put our add a fuse into the tail position of the interior fuse box, or KDSS position.
@@4runnerlifestyle can you make a video on this?
@@justinwiley4261 As soon as we can get a hold of a new 4Runner yes
@4Runner Lifestyle
Happy to bring my 2021 to use in an updated video. I have purchased the lights but can’t get them to work correctly. The tail location did not work for me.
@@4runnerlifestyle looking for guidance on where to install the add-a-fuse for 22 4runner Off Road as the lights stay on all the time. Thanks
Install appeared to go smoothly, but lights will not turn on. Tried different fuse locations in the cabin, re-checked connections, but nothing. Awaiting return communication from 4Runner Lifestyle.
Just did the install, same with me. Did you get it figured out? Thanks in advance.
So do we just leave the hole in the firewall unplugged? Cant plug in the grommet with the wire there.
what i've done in the past on other vehicles is i remove the grommet and drill a small hole through (slightly smaller then the wire diameter to make it a tight fit), then pass the wire through the grommet and leave the grommet sitting in the middle of the wire. then when the wire is done being fished through the firewall i simply slide the grommet back into position and pop it back in. easy way to seal it back up.
Putting it in the TAIL position. DRL no longer works and my lights don’t turn off automatically when locking truck.
I’m considering getting a 2020 4Runner, but im curious if the radar device on the bottom grill is going to make it difficult or impossible to install a heritage grill. Anybody have any thoughts?
I just picked up a 2020 and ordered my heritage grill. They made a new one with different brackets for the 2020 model. So all those cheap grills you see online don’t work for the 2020. The only place I found it was through the dealer until aftermarket companies come out with an updated version.
As noted below the knockoff ones are not cut out for the 2020 radar sensor. That being said, all you have to do is dremel out a notch for it if you want to same some money over OEM. I just order the OEM version to get a good fit. Part numbers are PZ323-35058 & PZ327-35056
I have a 23 limited. Does it fit?
So I put it in the INJ fuse in the engine bay and my 4runner would not start. I had to go back to the original 10A red fuse and it worked again. So not sure what to do
It sounds like you don't have a fuse or a blown fuse in the harness thats in the kit possibly. We can figure that out for you and get it taken care of if so! Sales@4runnerlifestyle.com by email will get you connected with our guy Andrew and we can open a case to see what the issue is!
How to install on 2021 4runner trd pro?? The fuse box is different on this car vs the 4runner trd pro 2021.
Same here. Only have one empty spot and when I plug it in there they stay on when the car is off.
Do I need to disconnect car battery for this??
Mine came with another inline fuse. Couldn’t figure out how to get that fit through the hole under the hood.
I’m In The same boat. Do we need that inline fuse?
And what did you do to make it work?
Can this void your warranty?
is it ok for the fuse box to stay uncovered? Sorry...im new to this

Any suggestions what's to do.

Off topic question. What roof rack is that?
Gobi Stealth
on this install will the raptor lights work without having to put the DRL lights on?
If you put the ad-a fuse in the correct position the raptor lights will turn on and off with the car organically no switches or light toggling needed.
Does anyone know of an install video that shows me how to do it if I want the option of turning the lights on and off?
You would need to link it to the cabbing with cables OR use search for a led switch with on and off remote. Like those rgb ones.
Just cut the positive line and put an togle switch for on and off.
@@BENHAWAIIVLOG better to do it on the ground side.

@@by350 do these lights blind users during a day? I know its not that bright but foes it annoy drivers?
I’m assuming since these are on all day and night whenever the truck is on, these will die fairly quickly? How long do these lights usually last?
Thats the beauty of LED lights. They use less power, are brighter and last longer. Many LEDs have a rated life of up to 50,000 hours. This is approximately 50 times longer than a typical incandescent, 20-25 times longer than a typical halogen, and 8-10 times longer than a typical CFL. Used 12 hours a day, a 50,000 hour bulb will last more than 11 years. Used 8 hours a day, it will last 17 years! I don't know what type of LED they are using for this product but I'd bet my bottom dollar they last longer than any halogen bulb I've got on my vehicle.
I wish the lower grille had a ‘how to’ video. The fact that the top grille lights snap in and the lower grille lights have to be screwed makes it difficult for short arms. Why couldn’t they be made the same?
Because of how the lower grill is set up there just isn't a current way to snap them into place, I will add that video idea to the list so we can get that out for y'all
