    Hi Chad thanks
    Great info for pool owners, I have learned to stay out of the pool stores just to get wrong information
    and spending money on chemicals that I don't need, I live by your E-book I Love My Pool this is indeed the holey bible for
    the pool maintenance, now when I go to the pool stores for my chemicals I tell them what I want and how much I want, I have been using your E-book since 2014
    No problems with the pool since the summer of 2014
    again Chad thanks lots for all your info and saving me lots of money

    San Diego- Intex above ground 18 ft. made two 4x4 solar boxes with 200 ft of black hose in each one covered with glass. Water gets very very hot . Have 4 layers of clear 4mil plastic raped around it to help keep the heat in. Got it running through my intex sand pump and then turn vale to switch back to the pool. Last couple of weeks it has been warm and I have the pool temp around 86 to 88. Keep solar cover on when not in use.My ph is to high and chlorine is up there. Just me and my old lady use the pool ( retired ). Overnight water turned green. I try and brush or sweep my pool every day and this time a cloud of green smoke filled my pool. ( algae ). Watched your video on How to clear up a green pool. Going to Wall Mart tomorrow and get 4 gallons of liquid chlorine and put the fire out. Thanks for your help.

    I’m agreeing with you 100%. I am not having any problems with my pool and this is why I think I’m not. The pool pump/filter runs on low 24/7. I also have the Frog system that keeps the minerals and chlorine going 24/7. I also clean out the filter cartridge once a month no mater what. I also don’t let any debris stay in the pool at all. Thank you for all your help. Ps. When we have a pool party I dump in some liquid chlorine after everyone leaves. My question is in your opinion does the mineral pack really do anything at? If I just use chlorine would that work or keep both going.

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  Před 4 lety +1

      The mineral pack has minerals that kills bacteria on its own so by using it you still need chlorine but only half of what you would normally use

    Thanks. Yes. I have the green pool problem every year and super shock and algaecide like crazy never seemed to work. We are getting a new pool this year so I am really hoping to not have that issue again. We like our water temp to be about 85 but sometimes it does get up to 90. When you say add a little extra chlorine, how much are you talking? Our pool will be about 17 thousand gallons. I guess that bags of shock will tell me how much to use for my sized pool but I am wondering how much extra you are talking about. Would I still add more shock/chlorine even with the Frog Leap mineral system? Your videos are a great help. Thanks.

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes you'll need to increase your chlorine use even with the Frog. You'll just have to increase it and stay on top of testing your water to keep your levels around 3 or 4 ppm. Then you'll find out how much you will need.

    I just wish we had the intense sun we had for a week in June..today 14 C (57 F) and raining, water temperature going down fast. Welcome to Finland!😄 Still waiting for the air-source heater to come. Thank you for your videos, they are great for a newbie learning how to maintain a home pool. 👍

    What type of chlorine? I just bought a Coleman 22ft round pool. 1st time owning an above ground pool. What advice do you have? Also do you know the best way to level for a pool. My yard has a slight slant in my backyard? Should I also cover my pool every night?

  • @richvarga
    @richvarga Před 4 lety +1

    Hi Chad, love the videos. This makes sense and I understand the concept but can you explain the dosage a bit more? For example, when summer rolls around and you're in the thick of it come June and July, are you saying put in that larger amount of shock all on the same day? From say 1 lb. to 3lbs on a Sunday? Or do your regular amount and then a couple days later another dose? The reason I ask is because on your green video you said to practice proper maintenance because high amounts of chlorine can fade liner and damage plastic.

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  Před 4 lety

      The spirit of the idea is not specific numbers of chlorine but just a boost in chlorine through the hotter periods. And yes I recommend you keep on your once a week schedule. And also yes over using chlorine will bleach out your liner however as it gets hotter and you use the pool more and more contamination in the water that extra amount of chlorine that you put in goes away quickly before it can damage parts of the pool

    Hey Chad, I put chlorine in my water last night and when I woke up my whole pool is cloudy and bubbly. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if it was the chlorine itself. I’m not sure... please help Chad.

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  Před 4 lety +2

      chances are if you use the cheaper brand of chlorine it was probably the chlorine that did it. Or if you used a gallon algaecide at any point that could have something to do with it too. Usually it'll clear up if you just keep the pump running.

    Great videos. Thanks. Question!!! After every rain and/party I will add some shock. After adding shock to pool. Do I have to turn on my pool sand filter and run it??? And if yes for how long ??? Or just throw shock right into pool??? Thanks again.

    When you say to add more chlorine during the hot summer months, does that mean we should have a a higher level of chlorine than normal while people are in the pool.

    We had a lot of rain a week ago and I've been putting chlorine in almost daily. Still have algae and chlorine tests high :-( Also, can not find tablets or anything else, only chlorine. The store owner said a factory burned down that made the tablets ?? What is one lb. if you are using liquid chlorine ?

    Hello chad
    I have a 16ft x 48in round above ground summer waves pool (just a cheaper walmart pool) but we upgraded to a sand filter and we r using a chlorine floater in the pool but was wanting to upgrade that as well wondered if a in-line or a off-line chlorinator was better. thank you. Love the videos they have really helped me be able to keep a clean pool

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  Před 4 lety

      An inline chlorinator is what I would choose. It's so much easier and you don't have to mess with it near as much and it does a much better job than the floater.

    Would you reccomend adding more chlorine on your scheduled maintenance day during the hottest part of summer, or maybe shocking twice a week instead of once?

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  Před 4 lety +1

      I would still shocked once a week but yes you definitely want to use more chlorine the hotter it gets and the more the pool gets used

    Hi chad when you say to increase chlorine during summer months are you referring to the tablets? That’s what I use. Should I add two tablets instead? Following your suggestions I already shock the pool after pool parties etc... I’m just not sure what type of chlorine You’re referring to please help 🙏🏼

    sooo I shocked my 18ft round(algae 2lbs all gone) 4 days later my chlorine is still showing high on my aqua strips. is it now a waiting/testing game. I suspect I should be ok and not adding anymore chlorine for weekly maintenance.

    Your videos have saved me and my pool, thank you! What is your view about using bromine v. chlorine in a floating dispenser. I was told by a pool tech I had to hired that even though I have a sand filter and am putting in weekly Pooltec, which is an algaecide clarifier chlorine boost, I need to also use bromine or chlorine tablets each week.
