    I kept my pool so clean it looked like drinking water. I used a chlorinator. I swear by them. Putting a new pool here in this house and will definitely have an in-line chlorinator. I also ran my pump 24/7 all summer , every year.

    Great video sir, my pool is green now it's frustrating lol I bought some brand 4 in 1 stuff but since my filter that came with the pool is small or basic it does no good so tomorrow I'm draining the whole thing and cleaning it. Hopefully this time around I'll use 2 chlorine tablets a week hopefully that'll do the trick. Buying another filter pump is expensive 3-400 is the quote I got today.

    I dont know i seem to be having a problem with this . 18ft round pool , little bit of this forming on bottom of the pool. Put chlorine in it all the time . 7 day tab, sometimes 1 day tab . Algecide, bout 4 ozs or so for my pool was told that only last a couple days. I srub the pool with a brush and vacuum. What is wrong. Also 2 pool places say water chem is great . Nice and clear water. Any suggestions. I also run my pump every day. 8 to 10 hours a day.

    First off I'd like to say that your videos are so helpful and easy to understand and for that I really appreciate you! Question: I just installed our first above ground 24'X52" with the exact same sand pump as that's in a lot of your videos, I have no idea where to start with chemicals! I added 2 small bags of shock checked the water the next day and everything read good. Do I need to add any chlorine or any other chemicals? Sorry if that's a dumb question but I have 0 experience with pools! Thanks again

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  Před 6 lety +1

      That's not a dumb question but it is a huge question. I would highly recommend you take your water sample to a pool sore and let them test it and teach you what you need to know.

    We live in the desert. Think a huge cat box. Hot, windy and dusty. My pool turned green but I’m not sure if it was from the intense heat (105*) and wind (tons of sand and debris) or because I kept is it covered some of the days. Should I keep it covered when it’s super windy and if so do I up the chlorine or skip the cover?

    I don't have algae problems and I don't use chlorine. It's too harsh and poisonous. I use Baquacil. It's a hydrogen peroxide product that's easy to use with no skin irritation and no chlorine smell. Plus no fading, clothes or pool.

    • @mamahen7147
      @mamahen7147 Před 2 lety

      Denny use to buy Baquacil for years but we had a difficult time getting it here is SC. No one will carry it. Because we could no longer get Baquacil we went to Soft Swim supposedly the same as Baquacil but it is not. We had so many problems fighting algae with Soft Swim. I now just recently switched to chlorine and I am not sure I am going to like it. We will see but I loved the Baquacil for sure.

Should I just add the whole gallon or should I add half a gallon every couple of days.. It's turning a little green already. Thx

    Awesome!! Do I need pool test strips? This is year 2 for me with our pool. Last year I never tested, kept tablets in it and was fine. This year I'm battling algae, already watched your other video, but if I get it clear is it worth testing? Or just follow your tips and keep my tablets in? I have a 24ft and 3 floaters with a total of 7 tablets between them.

      You want to test the water once a week to stay on top of pH and chlorine levels. This will keep you from falling behind and having issues.

    Unfortunately adding Chlorine turns out pool water brown due to iron so we do t add chlorine- we add Algaecide and lower the Ph

    • @floridagirl386
      @floridagirl386 Před 5 lety

      Put a piece of pilliw batting into the skimner & the basket it will keep the iron back & just swap the brown batting for a new piece every hour or so. This is what I had to do for mine because I use well water

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  Před 6 lety +1

      If you still have green in the water then you're probably going to have to shock it again.

    So our pool was green last week and I cleared it using your Clearing up a green Above Ground Pool video - it turned blue over night but it never cleared up from being milky - it got better but never turned clear as I was hoping to have the water clear by this weekend to swim. We have run the pump (that came with the pool - an Intex 15' by 4' round) 24/7 for weeks now -clean the filter and the skimmer every day, vacuumed several times, I used clarifier twice with not much difference... this morning it is starting to turn green again. My problem is that we seemingly have to put chems in everyday - our ph is usually through the roof and the chlorine is almost completely dissipated everyday. We live in Az so it has been over 100 almost everyday - we did get quite a bit of rain last month (a lot for us anyway), we had some decent wind as well which in Az means lots of dust & dirt carried in the air and also the pool is in full sun most of the day because we have no trees in our back yard. We got our pool last year and it never turned green last year and honestly we were a little lax on the chems last year. I have questions - is it normal in our conditions to have to lower Ph and add chlorine everyday? and now in trying to adjust the ph level down in preparation for trying to clear it from green this evening I over did it on the muriatic acid and now it is way too low - what is the best way to raise it to the proper level? What is the best way to keep the ph at the proper level? We stopped using the the chlorine tabs in the floater because somehow our cya levels have gotten up 50-70 - is there anyway to lower it without partially draining it? I guess that's all my questions - I am just so tired of not being able to swim in our pool!

      Jennifer Thibodeau You need a sand filter. The ones that come with the pools don’t keep the water clean.

    I’m beside myself trying to get our pool clear. We just moved to the country, set up the pool, and hooked up our saltwater system. The water was dirty, because my husband cleaned the inside of the pool as the water was filling. smh We shocked it, it got rid of the dirt, but the water stayed green. Added the salt too. Shocked it again, same thing. There are no pool service businesses in the area, and I have no clue what to do now. Any suggestions on what to do, or who to call? We used the test strips, and it says high alkaline? Never had that before. In the city it worked perfect. With the salt water system, I’m not sure what chemicals are safe, or what to use. Thank you so much if you reply.

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  Před 7 lety +2

      Bleach is 5% chlorine and normal chlorine is 65% so I don't recommend bleach. The amount you use would be determined by your size pool. Follow instructions on the chlorine.

    can you use Clorox as a shock treatment?

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  Před 8 lety

      Clorox has such a low chlorine content that you end up putting a lot of junk in the pool and little chlorine, which will cause problems down the road, so I don't recommend it.
