  • Maurice Strakosch(1825-1887) transcribed the Yankee Doodle theme for "hyper-transcendental" piano solo piece.
    Nevertheless still melodies sound so vivid! I love this transcription.

    wonder why no one ever recorded this, obviously it's not a very serious work but it really feels like a fun one and well written.
    Maybe someday i'll play it, just for the meme, but definetly not in the near future lol

    Somehow you can tell when it's machine-played - it's just too perfect, but with no expression whatsoever. When it comes to the huge leaps near the end, somehow hearing a machine do it effortlessly doesn't thrill, whereas hearing (and seeing) a human doing it would engage you, even if it was considerably slower (as I think it would have to be) and with the odd mistake here and there.

      But it's probably playable by a human, whereas I doubt this is.

      @@michaeledwards1172 I think it definitely is, though certainly not with the tempi chosen for this rendering, which are arguably much, much faster than intended by the composer when compared to the tempo markings in the music (Var. III [4:10] being the most obvious example -- I'd hardly describe that as "quasi andante"!).

    people keep saying the last version is Mereaux on steroids but it's definitely easier. I will upload a video about ranking the difficulties of the jumps in bravura in a few months and this will be on there as a reference for the scale

    La mélodie la plus insipide et inintéressante que l'on puisse imaginer.D'une pauvreté rare.Quant à cette sorte de paraphrase exubérante sur le plan rythmique , d'une difficulté technique assez élaborée dans l'approche de ses différentes variations plutôt orientées vers un aspect transcendant , elle ne parvient pas à beaucoup retenir l'attention du fait de la pauvreté d'inspiration de sa ligne mélodique , pseudo-folklorique et vulgaire.
    Tout cela n'a pas une goutte d'aspect génial et , certes bien écrit dans l'ensemble , peut être relayé au musée des horreurs et erreurs du répertoire pianistique.
    Mais le ( ou la ) pianiste est excellent...seule compensation dans cet horrible pot-pourri !
