    Would getting sections of a second hand one off your website work, because I have seen that the front, middle, and end section sold separately?

    • @HattonsModelRailways
      @HattonsModelRailways  Před 4 lety

      The seperate parts of the Garratt we sell are of the first batch of Garratts that were released and intended as repair and replacement pieces to the chassis components on the previous releases. We wouldn't advise ordering the parts separately to create your own Garratt as running numbers and body styles you receive may vary, as the main focus of theses replacements are the chassis which could be transferred over to a previously purchased Garratt.

    It’s interesting to read firemens’ recollections of firing these. They were brutal fireman-killers! There was no time for ‘technique’… just shovel in coal as fast as the human frame would withstand and it would all burn just as fast or faster. Great model by the way!
    When is Heljan (or anybody!) going to manufacture those very characterful BR3MT 2-6-0s? liked by Ayrshire crews who called them ‘Wee Standards’?

    Though I like my new Garratt, bought a few months ago, it cannot pull my cmx track cleaning unit: wheels slip. So, disappointing in tractive effort ability.

    whats the idea of a revolveing bunker....great model....

    • @HattonsModelRailways
      @HattonsModelRailways  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi, the revolving bunker assisted with moving the coal along the length of the huge coal bunker, rather than the 'old fashioned' method of the firemen climbing in the bunker and moving it forward themselves. As you can imagine, it went down well with firemen :-)

    • @HattonsModelRailways
      @HattonsModelRailways  Před 4 lety

      We'd love to see this if you purchase one! The Garratts do not come with DCC sounds from the manufacturer and require an 8 Pin sound decoder to work alongside the pre-fitted speaker.

      Hi King Orry. There aren't any other UK Garratts in RTR form currently manufactured from another company. There are other companies out there however that cover the international range of Garrats such as Eureka Models who produce Australian Garratts. Hope this helps!

      The Garratt is a spectacularly large locomotive. It looked impressive on our test track as we filmed this video.

  • @JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller

    Might be worth (as a sales booster) offering the correct couplings as a compatible accessory as the factory fitted ones are a complete fiction.
    That aside they are an impressive model and no doubt will be very popular.

    • @HattonsModelRailways
      @HattonsModelRailways  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi James, we don't offer any sort of coupling that would be suitable to replace the detailing coupling on the Garratt model. We do believe they may be available elsewhere so keep an eye out if you would like to swap over the couplings.
      We're glad to hear your impressed with the model overall though!

      The current range of Garratts are just above your desired price range so it may be worth trying to order one of the current releases rather than waiting/ hoping for a sale or price reduction. The original batches proved exceptionally popular so this second batch may not last long either. Hopefully you can work something out and get one you'd like!

    Features a “revolving bunker” that doesn’t revolve?

    • @HattonsModelRailways
      @HattonsModelRailways  Před 4 lety

      Hi Atlanta Man, the models don't feature the revolving coal bunker feature. This refers to the coal bunker on the real world Garratt which did have a revolving functionality to it.

    • @atlantaman
      @atlantaman Před 4 lety

      In that the models’ bunkers do not revolve, in my opinion the advertisements are worded in a manner likely to mislead. To spend £200+, innocently expecting to watch the bunker revolve only to be disappointed when the thing arrives would infuriate me and probably others.

    • @HattonsModelRailways
      @HattonsModelRailways  Před 4 lety +3

      Thanks for the feedback Atlanta Man. The revolving bunker is known as such as a part of the Garratt locomotive similarly to how a 'firebox' is known as a 'firebox'. Fireboxes don't function on models or include an actual fire but we retain the name as it is the descriptive name of that component of the locomotive. The revolving firebox is similar in this regard. If anyone does have a query on any feature of a model, they can always contact our Customer Experience team via phone and email who will help out with any query. Hope this helps!
