I update it to the latest software and all of a sudden I can't use my pencil anymore, even though when I attach it to the iPad, the apple pencil icon comes up on the screen without the battery percentage and for some reason doesn't come up on the blue tooth.
Edit: I went to the store that I bought the Apple Pencil from and they examined it and said that it was damaged from Apple themselves and replaced mine with a new one.
Mine too and it just happened today ! But I am not sure if my iPad IOS is updated last night or not as mine setting is updating automatically. 😢

When I put mine to the magnetic thing and I clicked on my Apple Pencil in Bluetooth it said “ make sure it’s connected to the iPad” and I kept trying, and it kept saying that, so I pressed “forget this device” and now it’s not showing up anymore at all

check to see if theres grime between your pencil and the connecter part sometimes grime can sever the connection

Remove the case then it will connect but at starting battery is at 0% leave it like that and slowly pencil will charge.Dont use the case again although pencil will connect with case on but pencil battery is draining when the case is there

First i forced restart my ipad and then reset my network setting. After that it works
Removing the case worked for me. The case seems to be too thick to recognize the pen but I also reset the ipad. Thanks for your video.

I tried all of this but didn’t work but when I removed my iPad case and reconnected the Apple Pencil It surprisingly worked. Y’all should try it if you’re using a case that covers the charging area for the pen(Im using iPad Pro (4th gen)11 inch iOS 16.6)
your case may be dirty too! to much grime can sever the connection

For the ppl saying their pencil isn’t showing battery, flashing and not connecting, make sure to shut off ur iPad turn it on again and shut it off and on again then take off ur pencil reconnect it and it should work

Those who tried this and didn't work. You may Try this. I had the similar connectivity issue & finally made the 2nd gen pencil work. It is a simple trick actually. Use a hot water pack & place on the pencil covering entirely for 15 mins without any water contact and then remove and attach the pencil to the iPad. That's it. it could connect. This method revived my pencil battery and its connection.

Guys, if none of these tips worked, try this one I just found!!!!
I watched another video after this one, and they said to turn the iPad off with the pencil connected, wait 60 seconds, and power it on with the apple pencil still connected, and it actually worked.
I guess every time I restarted my iPad, I took off the apple pencil, because I wanted to connect it only when the iPad was on.
The reason my Apple pencil even stopped working was because I didn’t use/charge it for a while, which I just found out could damage the internal battery.
So make sure your apple pencil is connected to your iPad for a while charging, then try this.

When i clicked aople pencil and scribble it turned on.. battery is low 5% gen 2 pencil on 2nd gen ipad pro 11 inch . 2022
what i did was take the tip of pen off and clean the metal bit with a bit of saliva like just a touch and actually wipe it off properly and put the tip back on. started working for me

I have the iPad Air and I have the stylus pen and it’s for the 9th generation
i updated my ipad into latest os and all of the sudden my apple pencil doesnt work at all, i even went to their authorized repair provider and had my pencil replaced with a new one but still doesnt work, the staff said the problem now is on my ipad but i just bought my ipad this year and all i remember was i updated my os that week when my pencil started not working. 😢

Solved. You need to turn volume up and down, and turn off iPad with apple penci for 2 minutes or more. After that my Apple Pencil works 😊

this still didnt work for me, i did all of these steps but none of them worked, even did a full system wipe and still nothing. The apple pencil shows up and is detected but it refuses to connect after i clicked forget device.
