However it was common for men of crime to sow razor blades into their lapels, ensuring anyone to attempt grabbing them, would slice of their own fingers doing so
@REALLY INTERESTING VIDEOS the teddyboys definitely did the razor blades not sure about the fish hooks interesting either way
When he says "he was my great grandfather"......I got goosebumps.....!!
All jokes apart, to me it was really sad when the historian said “He’s left his mark upon me, in my looks. And I can’t hide from that, can I?” when talking about his great-grandfather. It seems like he feels a burden on his shoulders from all the people his relative hurt when he was alive. He feels sorry for them. And sure, his great grandfather was a horrible person, but I’m also sure that his great-grandson is a million times a better person than he ever was! The historian had no control over his great-grandfather’s choices, and he’s doing a good job by bringing to the surface this side of history which is hardly talked about.
Agree.
true
I dont think he feels any burden on his shoulders.
He knows that there were bad people in his family and he doesnt seems like he let history define what he is.
He looks extremely comfortable with the topic, not the other way around.
Lets be real here: The only difference is he knows one of the criminals in his family tree by name and what they did. We all had criminals in our family. Gang members. Murderers. Rapists etc. Just goo far enough back and you will find them. It just most people dont do ancestry research. And dont try to find out what they did.
I have the benefit of a half-sister who did some research so i do know a few generations back in time, one of my ancestors was convicted of beach robbery and had to build deichs. Apparently he clubbed some survivor of a sunken ship to keep the goods for himself. But all that is just history. You are only responsible for your own actions. noone elses.
“He’s a horrible nasty thug.. He’s my great grandfather.”

My heart shattered when he said that the razor in the hat thing was fake💔
Not quite ... it may be in his particular case and the case of his families Gang but ... my family told me of young RAF Servicemen ( NOT Pilots ) who would go to the Pubs during WW2 and in the 50's with razors sewn into their caps and in some cases slid between the leather toes of their combat boots ... that's a fact. So there may be some measure of truth in the razor caps as the RAF boys employed them.
