      @@Drupott68 Lol he said Procharger lied. Lied about what? He never said. Must have been an install error 😂

  • @unleavenedkaraiteplus3412

    Back like in 08 I installed a Procharger in my friend's Cherokee and not to long later it stated making a whining noise. I took it apart and found that the bearing race had pitted badly. It was never low in oil but anyway, we tried to purchase the bearing form Procharger but they wouldn't sell the parts separately. We were kind of forced in purchasing another unit if we wanted it and we did. We didn't do the exchange so I kept the old one. As a machinist I decided to make the bearing race out of better material but what I found is that the radius between the balls and the race were very different causing the balls to ride on point. (the material wasn't the best but not really the problem) This obviously killed the race (surprisingly the balls themselves remained perfect) and to see this bearing problem happening ten years later makes me wonder why Procharger haven't fixed the problem. It's like they expect it to go out, which explains why they won't sell you the parts. Built-in obsolescence? Sure looks that way!!!
    Needles to say, I made my own race matching the curve ratio of the balls and the rest is history, no more problems. It's been on my son's Comanche now 10 years and counting.
    Update: Procharger company said their unit had no problems. On the later video you explain that the slow start and intermittent charging could be a heat issue... but it still doesn't explain the noise or the shinny particles in the Procharger unit. Did they pay you off? or should we just blame the whole problem as being Supernatural? Ok, but it's too weird.
    P.D. Mama didn't raise here no fool!!!

    I'm sure Cunningham is very capable and I don't want to give you more to worry you. But, I would have them take the compressor housing off and look at the compressor wheel. I'd want to make sure the shaft/bearing issue didn't cause an imbalance resulting in the wheel contacting the housing. This could make aluminum from the wheel go through the intake and into the engine. You would want to run one of those cylinder inspection cameras down the spark plug hole and look at the pistons/walls. Maybe drop the oil pan and intercooler, clean it out well.

    Issues like this suck. My 2016 SS with a Magnuson Supercharger is being towed on a flat bed back to Magnuson because a couple went out 4 weeks after the install. Magnuson is personally taking care of it and paying for the the 200 mile tow each direction. Sucks having these issues but it comes with the territory of modifying. Hope your car is fixed soon.

    • @dirtydave82
      @dirtydave82 Před 7 lety +1

      Was it due to bad bearings? Did you have a smaller pulley on the unit? Just curious because I am running a Magnuson TVS2300 on my Silverado with no problems for about 8 months. I am sure that I am in the clear for those kinda of problems.

    I feel your pain. I had a centrifugal supercharger on a s10. The bearings went out going down the road. It shot the fins out of the supercharger into my intake and locked my motor up. I guess I should of got a kit with a front mount cooler. Than it wouldn't of hurt or made it to my motor. So be glad you caught it early and have a front mount. Sorry that it happened though. After my problems I have went twin screw and haven't had any more problems yet.

    Bro those cars have a smart charging system. Sometimes it charges the battery and sometimes it does not. This would explain the voltage meter jumping all over. My 2017 has done this before where it start kind of slow randomly but it always starts. And after it runs a few mins you can shut it off and it will start just fine. I just think the "smart charger isn't always so smart lol

    • @BlackWhiteBeast
      @BlackWhiteBeast Před 7 lety +2

      Len Whitfield My recommendation is to not supercharge your car. You will have a lot of headaches down the road after supercharging this car. I recommend an all motor build. If the LT1 is not fast enough for you with the stock cubic inches, ported heads, and a custom spec'd cam, I recommend installing a stroked LT1 bottom end. Preferably a 416 stroker.
      Naturally aspirated is the way to go with this car for long term reliability and being fast. Big motor+ported heads and cam=monster with longevity.

    • @petethehawk5186
      @petethehawk5186 Před 7 lety +2

      BlackWhiteBeast yea I sorta agree with that. When he put this in I kind of thought to myself "yea I see issues with this sooner or later". Mines got more than enough power for me so I'm sticking with light mods only. I owe way too much on this thing to risk major blow ups or voiding a warranty lol. Good luck Matt.

      just questionable tuning and business practices the usual when it comes to complaints but I heard it from a few people I trust and maybe it was a fluke or a string of bad luck. Hopefully they treat everyone like they treat lethal and not because of his 20k subs. Again all hear say they seem to be fine to lethal.

    • @tanto2farwest
      @tanto2farwest Před 7 lety

      Yeah I haven't heard much about them until lethal started blasting them. These are the reasons people get the car supercharged from the dealer. Warranties matter. Watching people blow their warranties for hp they will never or hardly use seems completely pointless.

    • @RevMatch92
      @RevMatch92 Před 7 lety

      yes and no, lol if you look at my channel I've done the same thing as lethal just different setup. alll of his stuff is still probably under warranty and most of mine is too plus if something did go wrong it's always the dealership has to prove it was the mod that did it.

    My "guess" is that the gear meshing in the supercharger was too tight creating a lot of resistance to turning the entire engine with the electric starter motor when you were starting the engine. I would get a new supercharger and have the shop run it on a stand with a belt connected to another engine or electric motor to make sure that the internal gear meshing of the air spools is OK. Your original supercharger is most likely thrashed if the air spools were grinding against each other. There might have been a lot of metallic shards in the supercharger that could have flowed into your engine with the compressed air causing damage to your valve seals and cylinder walls. I hope that's not the case. But best to test a new super charger first before installing it on your engine.

    All the haters, at ease. The positive thing is that you caught it quick and you are safe and went home to your family. Next Cunningham Motor Sports has outstanding customer service based on your experience and from what I read. Next if I lived in California I would absolutely use them. The next thing you actually hit on the head and that is anything that man makes Is subject to malfunction. You know it's funny how many people are in your corner, "nice car lethal, totally cool Matt, awesome car, kick _ss car, I can't wait to procharge mine, etc.," until this happens and then you get the peanut gallery. Continue what you are doing as I have learned a great deal from you and your videos. Your trial, error, and success has benefited many. Cunningham and procharger will do what's right I'm sure. I believe Customer service is not usually measured when things go right as that's what we expect. Customer service is measured when things go wrong and how you recover. Brad's happened on his first run. Joes was in the shop for weeks before he could drive it because of leaks. None of them are bullet proof. You are at a cross road. After this is fix, you will see how you feel. You may be back to normal unaffected and I hope and wish this is what is going to happen. but you may also start having feeling like not trusting your car or never being sure if you should floor it, things like that. If this happen, think carefully about all of this. You will find if your are built to live the tuning life. If not, sell the car and buy a ZL1. There is nothing wrong, but you must be happy at the end.

    Should've bent your hat bill. Pro charger had to fight the flat bill on your hat. Maybe you should get a squatted truck.

    That's why i don't like pro chargers. ECS is a lot better unit. And if you want to go root style Eldebrock is such a better engineered car. I personally have seen way too many prochargers go bad over time.

    I would be extremely frustrated that they didn't just Fedex you a replacement next day. As soon as your dealer/installer indicated that it was a problem with the procharger head unit, they should have sent a replacement. They can tear down the old one, refurb it, whatever, but that's way too much time spinning while your car is down. Not customer service I would be happy with.

    • @slash11lipo

      Rafael Acevedo - You are exactly right. Times like this is when you really find out how good or bad a company is. They should have a replacement unit to Matt on Tuesday if they want to shine in the customers eyes.

    • @JCunningham21
      @JCunningham21 Před 7 lety +2

      This isnt some cheap part. Companies dont just send replacements on multi $1000 parts just because the
      customer is shipping a broken one back. They need to verify that the damage wasnt caused by the customer.
