    Video Introduction:
Blinkit was founded in December 2013 by Albinder Dhindsa and Saurabh Kumar as Grofers. Having met each other while working for Cambridge Systematics during the late 2000s, they teamed up to enter the grocery delivery space. Their goal was to solve the problems (both on the customer as well as merchant end) associated with the unorganized nature of the sector. The startup was piloted in Delhi NCR before reaching other cities in India. Blinkit (formerly Grofers) is an Indian instant delivery service. It was founded in December 2013 and is based out of Gurgaon. Customers of the company use a mobile application to order groceries and essentials online. Blinkit's employees then secure the items from their warehouse and deliver the items to the consumer within 10 minutes. By November 2021, the company was delivering 1.25 lakhs order every day. Blinkit currently operates in more than 30 cities in India. As of 2021, the company has raised about US$630 million from investors including SoftBank, Tiger Global and Sequoia Capital. Blinkit primarily delivers groceries, fresh fruits and vegetables, mobiles and accessories, kitchenware, books, home and office needs, bakery items, pet care, baby care and personal care products, electronics, flowers, etc. After seven years of operations as an online grocery delivery service, Blinkit introduced express grocery delivery in India, by building dark stores across cities. In July 2021, the company reported delivering over 7000 groceries in 15 minutes in Gurgaon. A month later, in August 2021, it introduced 10-minute delivery in the top-12 cities, after completing over 20,000 under-15-minute deliveries per day across 10 cities. This video is a complete business case study on Blinkit formerly known as grofers. This video talks about why is Blinkit failing in the quick commerce space despite giving good services to its customers. This video is a complete business case study on Grofers failure and discusses various reasons why Grofers as a business succeeded but today due to heavy competiton from companies like Swiggy Instamart and Zepto the company is constantly failing to deliver service upto good quality standards. This video also covers some important business and marketing lessons which one can learn from Grofers failure business case study and implement in their own business.

Personally I believe Grofers as a brand was more well known than blinkit. They shouldn't have dropped that name. But just added prime service for 10 min delivery. They wouldn't have lost the brand recognition of Grofers.

No, it is. Being a Zepto n Blinkit customer ever since their own launches intact the Ola Dash I’ve used and many used them equally for good discounts, faster deliveries and quality of products. Ola Dash just couldn’t cut through because of lack of ordered items, delivering wrong items, missing items and the only good thing was NO DELIVERY FEE. Zepto is playing well with quite good offers but now they’re moving out from 8-10mins delivery to 15-25mins perhaps because of huge demand or scarcity of delivery boys. And sometimes lack of inventory as well. Blinkit started the game quite late when Zepto created strong dark stores and warehouses. So far Blinkit never ever threw good discounts or offers or maybe mega deal days. It is still long way for all these 10min grocery startups. Truly in metros the 10mins delivery is a lot and gaining momentum but needs to see at what cost.

Grofers started everything..Their Packaging. Bags. Discounts. Freebies. Even their own brand Mother's Choice is of good quality. Now they have gone bonkers. Delivery fee is higher than others. On top of that a rush hour surcharge at times gets added on the bill. Now the Top spot in East Delhi is Bigbasket Now.
P.S.edit: Condition became so bad that they were delivering orders without any carry bag. Every other is using paper bags nowadays. Blinkit name change was a bad idea. Along with Zomato they also got a thrashing from the public over the flash delivery idea risky for the delivery agents.
Edit 2: I remember Grofers sending free colour packets for Holi which was such a nice surprise and gesture. free coke samples, free powerbars, peanuts and so many more which I can't remember back in the days. The name Grofers was their success. Now with Dunzo and Zepto coming up in Delhi, I don't know how will it be next.

I find it funny that these startups believes that they can convert people into a habit of quick delivery of orders, when the funding will go away(they can raise money but there is limit of how much you can raise, sooner or later it will go away) & then delivery costs will increase discounts will be very minimal to zero, also remember India has value for money customers & nobody will pay higher chargers just for that sake of 10-15 min delivery because we are not a rich country everybody looks for alternative when the cost is higher than they used to pay for the same services.
so in the end this bullshit model is not really sustainable(you can make fool of people by IPO scam but sooner or later retail investors will get more knowledge as they have already burned hands with zomato & paytm)
Everybody is trying to solve problems but at the core the real problem is sustainability of any business model & nobody is trying to fix that.

Now the thing is we should understand the problems that we really need to solve.. Food delivery was happening since long time and at very big scale from companies like Domino's.. It was proven successful formula.. Only one app for almost all restaurants was needed.. Swiggy/Zomato did that.. Fact is the more country will develop.. More smaller issues will be given importance.. Like in India no one is taking Racism seriously.. Or Free education for all etc.. Because priority is to make at least India better in many other things first.. There are way more bigger issues to solve.. 10 minutes Grocery delivery is not at all necessary according to me.. As in all case people may need 1-2 things only in very urgent.. Whole lot of groceries are never that urgent.. So this 10 min thing is not long lasting.

When goofers is there my husband and myself would order all the groceries we need for month at the time of 1st date coz he recieves salary on end date of every month....but now we both became lazy after blinkit came coz they would deliver in 10mins ....i personally think before it used to be 2.5-3k for our grocery expenses but now it's crossing 5k every month ...I miss those good old days where we both sort out grocery packs and help each other in stocking them up...

Hi sir. The biggest issue with blinkit is if you complaint about product delivered. There is no response from customer support and if you protest they simply suspend your account. The biggest flop blinkit. This is also the downfall of blinkit and now Zomato is in their trap.

The premise of your analysis from my perspective is flawed.
Family in urban set up is not that big fat one where u have more than enough PPL to run around.
By the time u change ur dress come Dow n get out of your apartment, these guys are done with delivery. Why should anyone go out?
Near by kirana store s are damn expensive. Was looking for an alternative and here it is.
Hope this input helps to correct this video

Food ordering apps need to really get restaurants to refrain from home delivering stale/half cooked/unsatisfactory food otherwise they will loose their popularity too.

Grocery deliver should focus on specific geography hyper local, work on low margin, high order value and lastly compete with dmart if u can’t give cheaper than dmart u will never increase ur order value. So focus on 10 to 15 KM market with high density of population and markets where zomato, Swiggy and Ola Uber doing well…Work on scale u can’t crack this model with ticket size of 400 to 500 minimum 1000 rupees order value is imperative

Well, same is gonna happen with zepto . They no longer deliver in 10 minutes and also quality of products is not good , most of the times they deliver wrong products . In meant section lucious is the best , their quality and customer service crushes down fresh to home & tender cuts . Right now fraazo is going good , they deliver promised fresh veggies but i feel they're going down .
