I found that most of these weren't quite right. Also, the full saying is, "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." Meaning, the loyalty of friendship is a stronger bond than the duty of family.

The thing is, there's only one Slytherin I truly dislike, and that's Dolores Umbridge. I actually really like Voldemort's character. He just wants to be the greatest Sorcerer in the world.
In fact, I think the Gryffindor house has way more scumbags in it than Slytherin. Out of the Trio, Ron is the only tolerable one, even then he annoys me. Hermione annoys the FUCK outta me! So does Harry, himself. Neville Longbottom is the only Gryffindor I like. I do like Minerva McGonogall, Albus Dumbledore and Rubeus Hagrid, but they're considered faculty. I'm talking about the actual students, and Neville is the only student I can tolerate from Gryffindor House.
The Weasley twins are OK. A bit obnoxious at times but more tolerable than the trio. But yeah, Gryffindor isn't the best house. I get tired of people thinking that it is.
You need to understand that there is a huge difference between Slytherins in the story and Slytherins in real life. It’s not the same context.
In the story, you cannot divorce Slytherins from the history of its house and the circumstances surrounding when the story is told. The context is that this is a house that’s tainted by pure blood supremacy because of the last war and the influences of certain people within that house and how much family influence can affect children going to school.
Slytherins in real life do not have the baggage of in story history, and thus Slytherins in real life can express Slytherin traits to its full potential without it being “evil”
Slytherins aren’t typecast as evil because of ambition and wanting to achieve goals, they’re typecast in story due to very specific circumstances and history.
You in real life should not be ashamed of being a Slytherin because you are not someone that exists within a story and its set of circumstances and history.

People who don't know me says I'm cold hearted, too unapproachable and look intimidating.

Just because you are a Slytherin doesn’t mean you’re automatically evil. Just because Salazar Slytherin was a pure-blood supremacist doesn’t mean you have to be exactly like him. Sure, there have been multiple people from that house who were totally prejudiced against Muggles and Muggle-Borns, or as they prefer to call them: “Mudbloods”, however, that doesn’t mean all Slytherins act that same way. We must be happy with our own houses and we shouldn’t be enemies with the other houses. While it might be true that most of the Dark Wizards came from that house, with the exception of Wormtail and Quirrel, that doesn’t mean we must be totally against the house as a whole. One example of a Slytherin who was never bad was Horace Slughorn. He’s ambitious, determined, and fights against the Death Eaters at the Battle of Hogwarts. Harry’s son Albus is also a Slytherin. We are not supposed to hate each other just for being in different houses. Let us be happy with our houses and keep having magically wonderful lives.

I used to believe in "Slytherin scum," but a couple friends and this video are helping me to slowly overcome that prejudice. This belief was so pertinent that I honestly would not be surprised if, at some point, there was at least one wave of a Slytherin killing spree.
Sylv The way that Slytherin was portrayed in the books was mostly negative. They were mostly described as bullies, cheaters, prejudiced, and murderous people who abused those whom they considered to be in a lower rank. J.K. even stated that she herself hates Slytherin. That’s why Slytherin is way too over-hated. Slytherin is not supposed to be viewed as “The Evil House”, it’s just too harsh for one of the most well-respected houses at Hogwarts.
Especially when you take into account the fact that despite their differing ideologies Godric and Salazar were still good friends

@Hyab Negash well your obviously gonna have traits of each house but you can’t be part of more than one. So it’s the house you have the most traits of and you identify the most with.
I feel like I don’t fake being nice like slytherins aren’t generally mean people! I think if you just met me you would probably think I’m hufflepuff. But once you spend more time with me you will realize I’m a slytherin. I have strong traits of both houses for some reason but I am definitely slytherin

Pottermore sorted me into Slytherin house and for my Ilvermorny house I was sorted into Horned Serpent.
I was sorted into Ravenclaw, redid it and got into Slytherin. I retook it again after that and got Ravenclaw once more.

@@__lillie__ you could be a "slytherpuff" - JK said slytherpuffs are one of the rarest but they do exist! Also, you can Google what slytherpuffs traits are (I actually did it yesterday and found 2 really cool websites) and see if they match you! :)

Slytherin competitive trait is Snape giving gryffindors detentions during their scheduled practices so Slytherin is better trained, or not awarding house points to anyother house.than Slytherin while taking unjust amount of points form other houses; its Malfoy practicing potions and spells in his home before school starts so he has a leg up in class; its Slughorn giving special treatment to the most accomplished students; basically, its strategic decisions made to guarantee a win in life. The Slytherin way.

My friends were huge potter heads, they were the ones that introduced me to HP, they wanted me to get sorted before I watched the moves, read the books and all that. Few days beforehand I heard them saying slytherins were evil (fun fact both of the were Gryffindor) we were also on bad terms at the moment. I took the test and surprise surprise I was a Slytherin, and in fear of being judged by it, I deleted the account, created a new one, re took the test, changed my answers, got ravenclaw and then built my personality upon that while in the presence of EVERYONE including of people that did not know about HP in order to convince everyone and leave no doubt in me “being a Ravenclaw”. It was years later that I realised that this may be the most manipulative and insecure thing ever...(at least for that time). Yes they were socked when one day I decided to tell them the truth, well, half of it....

i’m a proud slytherin!! i hate that we’re known as the evil house and all the evil people in the wizarding world come from slytherin but it’s because one thing all villains have in common is their ambition to get what they want by any means necessary and that’s the epitome of being a slytherin. we’re hard working, cunning and goal oriented people. i myself do draw a line when it comes to things i’ll do to get what i want or to achieve my goals but it’s only a fine line. for example, i won’t betray a friend or family member or even go as far as to commit a crime like murder but still, i have a lot of drive and ambition and i’ll go as far as i can without hurting anyone. slytherin is one of the best, if not THE best house at hogwarts and we’re so underrated. 🐍🐍🐍💚💚
