    I have something to share with you, my friend in 1989 I bought the first V6 available in a Toyota 4 x 4, this year I plan on buying the last V6 available both paired with a manual, great demonstration.

    The only reason ill keep my 2022 TRD off road is the v6. If the 4th gen proves to be semi bulletproof in a few years ill jump on one. For now ill stick with mine

    I like the looks of the 3rd gen a lot. The 4th gen Tacoma, i dont like the look at all! Not to mention the 4cyl engine. Just bought a ‘23 TRD OFF ROAD 4x4 in ice cap white, only 6k miles and i absolutely love it!!

    • @RaceCarFriends

      Yup if I were to buy a Tacoma now it would either be a 22 or 23 model year.

  • @AlphaDino

    You're forgetting the fact that not everybody fits in the 3rd gen even if they wanted to purchase it. The 4th gen fixed the weird seating position of the 3rd gen and added more head room. Also, it's 2023 and who doesn't have a cell phone for navigation? Not having a built in navigation is not a deal breaker when you could use something you already own and use daily.

    • @RaceCarFriends
      @RaceCarFriends  Před rokem +4

      On the 19's to 23's they already made the seats adjustable I'm 6'6" and kinda big boned and I fit perfectly in my 22 Tacoma, and I never use the built in navigation I just like seeing it there as I drive lol.

    • @janpur1417
      @janpur1417 Před rokem

      Head room remains the same: The engineer who designed it said they raised the seating by 30 mm and also raised the roof by 30 mm so there is no change in the head room.

  • @fastlife35

    In terms of reliability, nothing beats the current tacoma. I have one too and I am expecting it to last me forever, even though I may not keep it forever. But hasnt the turbo V4 been used on Lexus sedans in the past years? So I am assuming it is not completely new with unknown reliability?

    6th reason for me is the first models of the new gen of almost anything has flaws that haven't been worked out yet.
    Once released; products become available to a humongous R&D group,aka consumers, and you really start figuring out what's right, wrong and can improve.
    Example: I bought a 2015 Subaru Forester XT brand new from a Subaru dealership, I knew it was a CVT transmission, but I didn't know this was only the second year Subaru implemented CVT into the Foresters. Couple years go by and I'm getting on and off Check Engine lights. Take it to the dealership and find out Subaru put a recall on multiple parts of the 2014+ Forester CVT transmissions. But wait! Subaru didn't recall any of these cars with faulty transmission assembly, instead, they just extended manufacturer warranty by 40k miles. Leaving owners hoping their car basically breaks down sooner than later to get it fixed.
    Within a month I traded that shit in for a Civic and vowed to only buy new gen vehicles after they have been out 2+ years as they do seem to usually come out with added features as well within that time.

    Good in the 4th gen: boxed FRAME AND REAR LEAFSPRING SHAKLE is right under the frame as a HILUX as opposed to offset mounting which don't last. Bad is it is 4 banger WITH a turbo. I'll take 4 banger WITHOUT a turbo. New LC 300 has V6 turbo and consumes 1 liter of oil for every 1500 Km's. Coil spring is NOT ideal for a Pickup. Rest looks fantastic!

    Many of your reasons are the same why I stayed with my 2015 TRD Off Road Access Cab V6 4.0. The third gen just looked cheapened and the auto trans hunts. No chance I get a 4th gen cause they all come with the giant double cab. Proportions just don't look great.
