    My girlfriend just got a 2018 yesterday! Been driving it all around myself and can say that this is truly a machine. Thing is a beast. Beautiful car

    Picked one up yesterday. Amazing little machine. Pulls like my old E55 but handles better. And the interior is the best out there.

    This is a great vehicle. I’m not an SUV but if I got one this would be it

    The camera system is actually directly accessible from the parking assist button on the switch bank (4th button @ 2:31 right above your hand) and then you can choose which one of the various optional views you want :)

      I'd prefer a dedicated camera switch like MBUSA and BMW. And then I'd like to be able to set the default view to overhead as the same orientation as the vehicle.

    steve, seems you still like the older version, although the interior is more dated. Overall felt sportier?

    Great review by the way what's the name of the background music called?

    Great review Steve! Hopefully you get to retest the SQ5 with the summer tires. They make a huge improvement in handling. FYI, to make the surround view camera display longitudinally, press the “+” button on the right side of the touch pad. There you’ll see an option for graphic or camera. Switch to camera.

      Man, I tried that and couldn't get it to work! Thanks for the tip.

    What about an SQ5 w/o the sport pkg? Would it basically just be a faster version of a Q5?

    $67,175.00 gets the buyer faux exhaust cutouts

    Since you showed two Bangles songs on the infotainment screen (at 2:28 & 5:26), where's "Manic Monday", which would be appropriate on this day after Easter? Although, "Tear Off Your Own Head" kinda works too!

    • @stevehammes

      Ha!! So true. It was a Bangles kind of day.

    When will you try the traditional Q5 with the turbo-4 and 7-sp. twin clutch transmission?

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  Před 6 lety

      Hey, Billy. Probably no time soon. I've got an S5 Sportback coming next and then hopefully the R8.

    • @76carmel
      @76carmel Před 6 lety

      With the S5 Sportback, I think the BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe is on notice. Besides, why do auto makers, in this case, Audi, give you the better versions and not the volume models, like the Q5 and in the next review you’re testing, the A5 Sportback? (Most shoppers aren’t going for the $15,000 premium). Note, I’ll presume that the performance of the A5 Sportback is similar to that of the A4 that you tested.

    I like the lastest RS3 where the dash display pops out of the dash rather than looking like somebody stuck a mini Ipad to the ventilator.

      Yeah the Audi A/S/RS 3 all have that feature. I too, like that as well.

    The biggest disappointment about it has to be those fake "exhaust ports". It's just plastic covering! how cheesy. The last gen with the "quad" exhaust looks eons better!!!

    • @docholliday2754

      people complained about dirty exhaust tips so they fixed it, not really that big of a deal.

    • @jakeblack5712
      @jakeblack5712 Před 6 lety +2

      Many car makers are going with a fake exhaust. Even Mercedes. It appears to be an industry trend. I don’t like it either but it did not stop me from buying a new SQ5. It’s pretty awesome.

    One of my pet hates is touch screen displays in a car! Why everyone keeps on about them I will never know, now virtual cockpit I' like that Idea

    When you said as tested at $67,175 of an 2018 AUDI SQ5 in this video, is this the average price for consumer to purchase?

    • @stevehammes

      That's the sticker price of this particular model. Dealer price may vary.

    Audi have spoiled what was beginning to be an icon of the suv market with the first generation sq5 which in my opinion looks sportier all round which I did understand that the “S” pedigree is about I don’t think this version deserves the “S” with those stupid fake exhaust blanks and the updated wheels, Audi have done themselves no favours, the designer must be straight out of college without experience whereas the 1st generation designer got it right obviously understands what is meant by “S”

    who the hell is still ordering red leather? haven't the grandmother's who started this trend died off yet? Want objective truth to the terrible fate that is red leather? Look at resale value of ANYTHING with red leather. I think it's about 5% lower with only red leather being a difference when compared to something exactly the same.
