I bought the RX100V back in 2016 as a backup camera for a photo trip to Iceland. Its small size and light weight and its remarkable capabilities turned it into my go to travel camera for trips where the full frame gear was just too heavy. I bought the RX100VII in early 2023 when Hong Kong and Macau came out of their 3 years of lockdown as my primary travel camaera. with it long reach and relative ly wide angle tange and the addition of the lensmate filyer holer and a range of filtes it is now my main camera. I gave all my FF gear to my daughter. I find I can get grear imafes for travel as well as it being small and light for everyday carry. I no longer need nor have to carry the weight of the FF kit. Highy recomend this camera. it is IMO the best small/compact camera on the market for photography and ovvational video.
Excellent review. Bought mine in 2023 for Alpine activities (hiking and skiing). Impressed with the photo IQ, ease of use and portability. Still worth it in 2024 (on the basis that there seems to be no viii in sight)? IMHO yes.
Its a fantastic camera, I regret selling mine. Its small ,quick and takes wonderful photos. It is inexpensive. Im getting another one, it takes night shots amazingly.
I have had an rx100 iii for many years and the entire sony rx100 line is great. It's in my pocket almost all the time, and I'm always amazed at how good it is when processing raw images in LR. I also have FF cameras and GM lenses, but the RX lags behind in quality less than you would expect.

I’ve put a Smallrig L grip on our RX100s, it doesn’t increase size or weight much but improves the ease of handling; the only trick is put Loctite on the tread otherwise the work loose.
Hi, I advise you to buy the adhesive rubber that acts as a grip, which is much more useful from every point of view, it is smaller, it always remains attached, and therefore does not change the structure and characteristics of how the small one was conceived but very powerful Sony for the street!
Is there any RX100 model that can shoot 4K @ 60 fps? Most modern smart phones can do that. Remember that picture quality is not only about static clarity, but also about motion clarity. Higher frame rates give higher motion clarity. But if we only compare still images however, then that’s a completely different story.
@@billytubesyes but then they would have to compromise with the focal length flexibility in this kind of form factor. Look at Ricoh GR III for example.

I bought my A73 first and then I bought the A7S3. Then I bought the RX100m7 and I wish I had of bought the RX100 first because I probably wouldn't have bothered with the other 2 cameras after that. I really like how compact it is. Thinking about buying a second I love it that much.
Hi, friend. I reviewed quite a lot of reviews in the English-language and Russian-language segment of CZcams, and I decided that I would buy it. I have never regretted it - compactness, image quality even at a focal length of 200mm, focusing speed, all these characteristics are worth paying $1200 for it. But in general, if you need a camera for portrait photography, it is better to buy an additional rx100 m5 - in case you need a fast lens. Some wrote that phones now take much better pictures. God bless their families.
You ok to buy a 5Year old camera ? This camera fits my needs perfectly, but not sure if it’s ok to buy a 5Year old camera … Won’t there a newer version of this any time soon ?
i bought this camera to be a backup camera for music photography and i ended up getting published more with it than my large canon 5dmkiii camera so i would definitely say it depends how you use it. it can definitely be a plus to have one especially in addition to other gear. In terms of the compact camera competition like the Canon g7 or the ricoh gr series this camera is a clear winner and way more useful than the other two. the two features that i use the most are the eye tracking and the up to 200mm optical zoom. if i had one thing to add to this camera i wish there was an additional dial to map ISO to. aperture and shutter speed are fine but i would love at least one more manual control without having to go to function button to activate it
The Va implement a newer auto focus algorithm and I think some other little things too. The auto focus would ket buy the a tho. It isn't really more expensive as far as I know.

If your talking about this specific camera in my video 🤔 yes and no. this is more of a hobbies camera I would recommend the A7iv. With a much larger sensor These stock website are very particular.
One thing that is a big shame is that even the mark VII only captures video at 30 fps when shooting 4K. We live in 2024 now and 30 fps just doesn’t cut it anymore. It’s kind of nice though to have the option to shoot 960 fps slow mo, although it does come at the cost of lower resolution.

Smartphone wont be able match the picture quality of RX100 Vii. The pictures from RX100 are very much detailed and crisper than any smartphone camera

I love my mk7 but its got to go in for service soon as has a bit of dust on sensor. However its still by far the best pocket camera available

I have the original model, and while primitive by today's standards, it still can get you quality images, you just have to work at it a bit.
