      Is this Sony RX100 (any mark 3 to 7) the right camera for getting habitual of photography and mastering manual settings? If not suggest me budget alternatives please (:
      backstory:
      I wanted to learn photography. So I got a used Sony A7s2. Then lens I got with it was damaged. I thought buying a zoom lens would help me practice diversely with different focal lengths. Bought the Tamron 24-70 f2.8. The thing is I don't keep my camera with me. I should have got a fixed focal length lens (which would have also been smaller) and a smaller camera so that I can keep this handy with me always. I need to practice more and more. The setup I have currently I just don't carry with me.
      I want to click pictures during evening and night after office, shoot people, street photography...get used to shooting. So I am on the lookout for a body and lens to have with me everyday and get used to shooting, with manual, playing around with all the settings and master them.

    Thank you Carter! This video is really worth it! I had an Rx100, I did a lot of photos, it was always with me, everywhere. Then I got a zv1, different focal lens, great video quality but same feel and soul.
    Talking about x100v, you r right, prices are getting crazy and it will be the same with the upcoming new one. I have a used x100t (500 euros) and it's mind blowing. They are all nostalgic about the first X100 series because in the new one there is too much sharpness, colors are different..
    We need more video like this! Let's enjoy JOMO more (joy of missing out) and let's take more photos!

  • @jaspervos4345

    I owned both.
    Owned, because last weekend I sold my RX100m3. It is a very nice little camera which i enjoyed using on a trip to NYC and on the go back home. However, I did not like some things. When on, the camera always has the fragile tube extended. For me, always having a camera on and in hand, that extension is a proper no-no. Also, I did not really like the controls and menus, even after customization. Did not really like the RAW files too much. Yes they were good, but not to the level of my Fuji X100s.
    I kept my slower, less pixel X100s. Because shooting with it is addictive, the camera is always ready to go and the RAW and JPG files ar beautiful.
    The size is a thing, though. So, in short; for all the people liking the RX100 over the X100; buy a Ricoh GR. Maybe I should done that too.

      I have the rx100ii and the x100v. The Sony is such a mood killer to me to shoot with. I just started playing with it again, hence me watching this video, but I just prefer shooting with dials on the
      Body. That feels more natural to me since I learned photography on film before digital cameras were out. Plus I also look into the evf always. It’s weird looking at an lcd screen with the camera held away from me. I’m just honestly surprised the camera turned on after being in a drawer for the last 8+ years

    • @jaspervos4345
      @jaspervos4345 Před 6 měsíci

      @@BUCKSHOTSTV One good customization is using the center button for Exposure. You hit it and then turn the ring around it. For the rest, it will always be a super quality pocket camera, with not enough fun.

    • @JessicaNeidingHaverly
      @JessicaNeidingHaverly Před 3 měsíci

      I really do wonder if the camera I actually want is a Ricoh GR with a 40mm lens. I love my A6400 but it's bigger than I want for quick travel and casual shooting. The RX100V has been good, but the smaller sensor and noise is noticeable and feels like too much of a compromise at times.

    I own an RX100 (I) for a few years now. Bought it for I think around 200 euros, just to have an edc cam. And it's stil my edc cam. I love it. Don't need a II, or III, or IV...... The I does all I want. For professional shoots I have my EOS 5D MkIII, and an X-pro1 for when I 'just go somewhere and take a cam with me'. But the RX100 in in my pocket 24/7/365.

  • @matthewroth1
    @matthewroth1 Před 3 dny

    One thing to note is there is a noticeable bump in image quality from Mark 2 to 3 and Mark 1-5 have a lower aperture than 6-7, so those are slightly better for street or landscape photos. If you shoot in daylight or sun a lot, Mark 3-5 have a built in ND filter which the 6-7 do not. Imo, the best model is the 3 considering used market prices. I bought my RX100 III three years ago near mint w chargers and strap for about $450. The 5 is good too but I’ve seen them go for $600-700 or more on MPB and KEH which is crazy to be paying that much for a “pocket” camera. With that money you might as well get a few years old M43 or APS-C body paired w a good lens for better photos to get your money’s worth.

      Mark 3-5 has a 24-70mm

    I agree with several points. The jpeg film profiles are great, but waaaaayyyy more is made of this than what is really there for me. I'm one like you who sees no point in running out to drop ~$2k on a new camera, (never mind the lenses), when the camera you have will let you do this to some extent, (in camera) or this can be adjusted in post. I agree having the biggest, baddest, sharpest thing out there has it's place but not absolutely requisite to take great photos and videos and enjoy the photography experience. CZcams and every camera manufacturer have us decided into thinking that camera or lens of yester year no longer takes great photos and you need to drop a few thousand to recapture the experience.
