      @@MattCange their fear and intimidation tactics don’t work on grown men. Coaches like Urban and Saban only good cause they get the best of the best college players and they play against average to ok teams. Hard to loose if your team is stack with future NFL stars. They struggled in pro cause they don’t know how to teach they players to be great without the fear tactics. Saban so beloved in college but couldn’t handle a full season with Dolphins before quitting.

Especially kicker, pat made punter relevant especially now that more and more punters made big tackle in kickoff or punt like bosher and koch did. Kickers meanwhile just get the crap.     He never should have been hired, there is an active collegiate coach, very successful in College as well as the NFL by the name of Jim freaking Harbough, he should have been brought back into the league long before Urban, because his resume included being great at all levels in football.

I'm now all about him being hired in the NFL, just to a team that I want to no longer win. His story is almost satirical. Even when surrounded by the best, still couldn't impress. But the most important thing is looking at how underwhelming he's been at TTUN. Yeah, he finally won one, so there's recency bias. But what about last year, year before, and before? He's a decent mascot, but zero good at coaching anymore. Especially now that he's like 90 percent run. I can guarantee, that elementary school approach will never work in today's NFL. He's just not very bright at all concerning coaching now, even in college game. Just rode a really heavy program until his number finally hit. But I'm seriously hoping he gets a NFL head coach spot, if for nothing else, the comedy.

    I'll never forget the Tampa coach years ago who tried treating his players like he did in college... don't remember his name, but he made a rule that everyone had to wear a suit to a certain meeting every week or they'd be fined $1,000. After the first meeting, a player handed him a check for $15,000... coach was like "What's this?" and the player said "That's my fines for the year - I ain't wearing a suit."

    I guarentee, no one back in college has stood up to him like that before, as he controlled their scholarship and future and could ruin it in heartbeat if he wanted too.     If I was that kicker I would’ve called Urban “college coach” every time he called me kicker, and if a big deal was made of it I would’ve said I’m top four kicking percentage all time and that Urban is one of the most successful college coaches of all time and I thought we were complimenting one another

      I imagine the viral video of conduct unbecoming of a person in his position, bringing shame upon the Jag organization was cause enough. I'm sure it's in contracts everywhere in the NFL that if you are found to be of low moral and ethical character while representing the organization, you're not getting paid. Imagine the owner is stuck with paying a guy for 4 years that he can't ethically allow to remain on the team. The kick was icing on the cake here.

    The kicker is an important position. Just because they are not on the field all the time it doesn't mean the position is not important. Kickers have won Superbowls. I know the media gives the QB credit when the kicker wins, but I give the kicker credit, because he could have missed, and the QB would become irrelevant. LOL

      Well, they are called special. I think if teams focused more on making their offenses less complex, they might not have to really use the kicker that much. Just make your team more disciplined and tougher than anybody else and that likely fixes the need for a kicker in an already good team.

    My guess is that Urban kicked him and then walked away too quickly for him to respond. I can see the kicker being stunned/confused by the whole situation, and, then, once he’s processed what just happened, Urbana’s already 20+ feet out of range, walking away across the field.

    I’m almost never in favor of firing a head coach, particularly a first time head coach, after one season (or 13 games) but this needed to happen. I wouldn’t have been mad if it happened weeks ago tbh. It simply and obviously wasn’t working

    My question is has he been treating college players like this all that time he coached. In assuming yes some they don't have contacts and backing from a players association. I've been taking my brain trying to think if I've ever heard a former OSU player say good things about Urban.

      I wouldn't be surprised if there's a "me too" movement that starts up due to Urban getting exposed like this. I can't imagine that this behavior just started out of nowhere and against professionals with far more resources to knock his head into the dirt and be justified in doing so.

      Just don’t kick players in general. There is zero excuse for it. I can see punching. I can see slapping. I can see grabbing of the facemask. But I can never think of any circumstance where kicking someone is acceptable.

    Urban wouldn’t have done this to another player. He took the smallest guy on the team because he knew he could. He’s just a coward. I’ve had a boss like Urban (never hit anybody but just bullied people under him for no reason).
