You tell it like it is in the real world, and how it should be done fast! When your doing it for a living, time matters, because time is money in your pocket, and there are other contractors that need to get in the house to do their job. To get the home owners moved in. Thank You for such a great teaching experience!!!

Just exactly what I needed to know before finishing my sloppy drywall hanging job in my small 200 sq. ft. shed. I should have watched all your videos before starting ! Thanks for sharing all your knowledge with all us beginners. Any one going into the business should watch and learn as it seems now days contractors and their employees are just to busy to take the time to teach all these tricks and tips. Unfortunately there aren't enough generation x'ers that are willing to learn these trades or even want to do this type of manual labor which has made it difficult for contractors of all trades to find qualified and competent help. I'm a 65 year old that just needed a little brush up on my limited drywall experience.

The kicker is, if you want to get good at anything, is to learn as much as you can. Then you have to do the hardest part, you have to have the courage to actually take the first step, to just do it!

There were more joints than in a 21 year olds apartment! I am glad I found this, super helpful, actually found out I was doing quite a few things right (pro painter for 20+ years), but certainly learned plenty of cool helpful tips, like why the hawk has advantages over the try (catches drips, easier to keep clean, more comfortable to hold). And even the measuring of how much you need to crease ahead of time using your outstretched arm length. So many great tips! It's so easy to see you are a wizard of drywall mudding!! Seeing the father-son dynamic in this series gives me inspiration for when I'm a father. My dad, and so many other dads of a particular generation, used to "communicate" with me by getting me to "help" with a job, by proceeding to do everything while I stood around and passed him the odd tool and learned next to nothing. Then he would be perplexed when I moved out of the house and had no idea how to function and just kept passing myself tools and standing around. As a result of my lack of an education in that regard, I turned to papa CZcams, and thanks to incredibly effective communicators like the fella in this series, I can do more than my dad can do and better. Now my dad sees my skill set and thinks he taught me all that. I love the man, but I just needed to vent. Moral of the story? Teach your children, use words, and get them to do the work. Be the dad in the video.

I don't know how often you get to look at the comments but I have to say that I used the information that I received from this video and it easily cut my work, mess, effort, and frustration in half! I've hung drywall and mudded and taped before but it was always such a huge pain and frustration. I also used information from another of your videos to select the type of mud to buy - and it worked out great. Thanks and keep up the great videos.

I learned a lot of simplified techniques. Your video made this a lot easier for me to find a technique that worked for me. Thank you sir,! You are appreciated.

Bit of advice for all of you. Go to Home Depot, find the Mexicans looking for work. Find the ones who know how to do drywall. Pay them a good wage, 24 pack of beer and I guarantee you the finished job will look better than any contractor you can hire. You've saved money. countless hours on you tube (cause I can watch this guys dyi videos all day).

It comes in handy to have a soft rubber mallet, not metal, nearby when teaching someone how to mud. If they start that icing a cake bullshit, a small but authoritative tap to the side of the head will cause a lasting impression.

Hey Jeff, quick question about taping: In a previous video, you mention that you should always tape your inside corners first, and then do you horizontal joints so that the tape on the horizontal joint butts up to the inside corner tape. In this video, you do your horizontal joints first and then tape right over them when doing the inside corner. Does it matter one way or the other which one is done first and if the tape overlaps each other?

There are many great techniques and tips in this video that will make anyone better regardless of experience level. But I think the title is misleading, that this is not a beginner's class but more for someone with moderate to advanced experience who can use this to perfect the art. I can't see a beginner come close to being able to use the techniques in this video without days, weeks, months of prior experience. That is not to discount any of the content - it is all spot-on and demonstrates an admirable mastery of the trade. Great video for people of all skill levels to watch and learn. Beginners need a much simpler set of beginner skills that will help them at their level.
