2nd trip with Alex in as many days, We headed to one of New Zealand's Best most consistent big fish rivers with hopes of good weather and some sight fishing opportunities.
We weren't disappointed catching several nice rainbow trout and brown trout on the fly fishing rods.

Hi Gareth, great videos. Curious to know how access to a section of river can be closed when you are clearly within the Queen's Chain and therefore have the right to be there under a statute of NZ law?
Something to do with riperian rights?? What ever that is
It means the landowner owns to the edge of the river or sometimes to the centre line of the actual river.
In that case the landowner has ad medium filum aquae rights. These exist in lots of places in NZ.
Thanks for that Gareth and David. Just had a look at an old NZ Herald article that came up on google. Always thought the Queen's chain applied to all of NZ. Only about 60% in reality. Cheers
