I didn't like cats as I grew up with dogs and the dogs used to chase a cat I they saw one. And after my GSD passed away a stray cat ended up at my house and I started feeding it. It was slow steps to allowing me to pet it. I eventually coxed into my house after several months as we have raccoons in the area and I was afraid a raccoon would attack it, as I did see it try to fight off one that wanted her food. After a couple of months it finally understood and now stays inside most of the time. I also got her fixed and they said she was relatively calm for a feral cat. The day after coming back from her operation she came and wrapped her arms around my arm and would not leave. Now she she sleeps next to me. She is still feisty but allow her to do her thing.
The only problem I have is she refuses to use a litter box so i have leave the door open. If anyone has some tips. Thanks.
@@Dan-xx5jq - try Cat Attract. We had the same issue, and it did help. Have patience.
Out rescued stray still preferers to do his business outside, but now if he's stuck inside he'll use the litter.
Next - make sure the litter is in a "safe" and private place. Pans should be low enough for easy access.
Try different litters. We use those wood pellets from TSC. Our cats like it and it cuts down on odor. Scoop!

I agree with all the comments about goggles and helmets , you three are precious giving this cat his best life , he seems to really enjoy the outdoor life with you both , nothing better than getting out in nature , enjoying a hike , just be careful of snakes , my cat walking in a harness and leash in England once caught a snake , I had to rescue it and send it on its way , in Ireland here we dont have snakes St. Patrick is said to have banished them from our land back in the 8th century , I'm afraid I'm not a lover of snakes ,ever since as a child there was a full page photograph of a Boa Conscricter killing a full size goat and eating it in The Encyclopaedia Britannica , it had a profound effect on me as a child , happy adventures all three of you , my first cat back in 1982 was a long haired Tabbie called Lucy , lost her young on the road ,hit by a car , but she was a beautiful cat , and still very much remembered to this day ❤😊
