Hi Mac, my Grandfather was the main foreman during Battersea's hey day, when he retired he got a replica model of one of the turbines. This building lay in ruins since the mid 80s. I visited last year with my Daughter, I was impressed with what they had done to rejuvenate the building and the surrounding area.

Early video tours ignored the shops because they were few and far between, so you did a great job bringing them to notice. However, I think you should do part 2 to highlight the turbine, control rooms, and incorporated beams and gantries. Not to forget the amazing chimney lift experience. The children will love that.

I was hoping you'd take the lift that goes up through one of the tall chimneys and comes right out the top to give a great view of London. Tge kids would love it.

What I enjoyed about Battersea Power Station is the views of it from the river side. At night its full art deco beauty is stunning when it's illuminated. I also loved the cocktail bar in the original power station control room and of course the crazy Lift 109, a glass elevator up one of the chimney to the sky! Very Charlie in the Chocolate Factory!

I’d love living in a walkable neighborhood someday! Currently living in a car-dependent suburb, which is pretty isolating, especially for my dad, who is unable to drive himself around. It would be so convenient for him to live somewhere where he can walk to places instead of having to rely on someone to drive him.

The office lobby you were talking about is actually the entrance to Apple’s UK HQ - Apple’s biggest single office complex outside of the US. It replaces 7/8 different office locations across London into one central location.

God this place has changed. I lived not too far from here (in Stockwell in the mid to late 90's), and worked at the Battersea Dog's home right around the corner from the power station. Absolutely shocking to see the transformation of this place, which, to my knowledge was like an abandoned, derelict empty buildings area. I know there was talk for many years of renovations and development; but I didn't hear anything for years. Haven't been over near that area for at least 12 years. I am stunned.

I'm originally from battersea but like you I'm further from home now, up in Scotland. So I haven't been to the power station since it opened. I would of favoured the eighties plan for a theme park attraction there rather than essentially a shopping mall.

I remember about 10 or 15 years ago, working for an extremely wealthy family in their country house in Hampshire .It was a huge house with swimming pool, tennis courts, stables, gardeners cleaners. Housekeepers. It was only a weekend house. Speaking to the owner one morning she told me she had bought three off planapartments, in Battersea Power Station, probably a good investment would imagine she has made a extremely large profit

Some lovely piano there - from a fellow pianist!
Don't know if you've seen it, but Chelsea almost converted the power station into a stadium. If you google the concept art, it would've been pretty amazing.
It's an impressive place now for sure... I wasn't so impressed by the prices. It's really trying to be Dubai-on-Thames.

Hey Mac. I explored this when it was abandoned and photographed it! Spotted a hole in the fence and took the opportunity. Was in there till the early hours many years ago. When I visited the shopping centre on the first day it opened; one of the staff told me “I could get up close and personal to the control panels in the bar”. I said it wasn’t the first time! Confused he let us in to look around the bar with the panels (B side)

Shame you missed most of it, including the space age lift all the way up the chimney stack. Look on the cover of Pink Floyd's 'Animals' album and you will see a giant pig floating over the power station.

You look great! I find this building obnoxious personally. Luxury development while all public services are crumbling. It's a manifistation of the growing wealth inequality in this country. It's built for tax dodging luxury businesses and as investment for international finance, but meanwhile there's growing child poverty in the UK and the NHS is falling apart. I think we need to tax wealth and flatten out the inequality.

actually, it has regenerated an entire area which had been derelict for about 25 years. It is a manifestation of trying to create jobs and new areas in central London.

It's a catastrophe. No wonder the local council got thrown out after 36-years (for what they did to that area).
The whole place looks like Dubai-on-Thames or some other generic international location.
Housing density is obscene. Private land with public access permitted but controlled.
No sense of community. Just awful. I used to live in Battersea. It just makes me sad. Sorry.
